I was 13 when this came out .. seen it at the theater when it first premiered, i give this movie & soundtrack much love .. but theres one mix i wish they would have released as a full legth 12" or an edit for something to work from, that mix was at the house party & the burning spear when double k mixed ... play that beat/globe & whiz kid with looking for the perfect beat/soulsonic force .. shame noone has that mix yet.
ive heard the rap version in the movie. this is only the instrumental version. the rap version is on youtube which i did listen too. thanks keep old skool alive brother. peace!
this is the movie that got me writing graffiti lol. is fucked up that a lot of people in this movie only made pennies compared to the producers. rocsteady is still doing though!
Man listening to this track brings back maddddddd memories, south bronx my stomping ground, knew mad heads, yea i was there throught it all, if u werent there, let me tell u, you missed out, wish i could go back, those were great times, and the dancing!!!! WOW cats were NICE, miss those days, one love too all the old school heads.
Hip Hop is not just about the music, Hip Hop is the whole package, its the music the graffiti the breakin and poppin and the clothes, Hip Hop is a culture it was a way of life for many back in the late 70s and early 80s.
Hip Hop today is not Hip Hop, its commercialised crap that has nicked the term Hip Hop to describe the so called genre and to make it sound cool to appeal to the masses.
todays rappers (if that's what you want to call them) have no imganination. they sing and singing is what they do not rappin', about an imagination life. do you really think lil wayne would actually have those hot women all over his ugly ass if thjey weren't on camera with him?
this was what u called HIP HOP. not the crap thats out today. jazzy jay respect. melle mell afrika bambatta kool herc flash dougie fresh. one love yall. these men are were the kings of HIP HOP. enuff said. i wish i could live in the bronx nyc. im from crappy west london uk. the uk is bullshit and the people too. the north east states of usa rules and the bronx is no.1 for culture music recreation art people and work. big respect from zareh77.
@zareh77 hi in my opinion hiphop has never been wack , its rap that is wack. if they just shut up and let hip hop its all good , but the version o f this song is not the full length in the original there is a rap it goes
' beat strteet the king of the beat i see you rockin that beat from across the street , a haha! beat street is a lesson too because you can't let the street beat you rah! :-}
beat street the king of the beat, gone a rock that beeat from across the street hahaha..beat street is a lesson too cause only the streets blah blah cant remember the rest
