  • my cockateils eat from our plates like humans :/ even eggs o.o

  • @MichelleCommentsYou We've tried to get out birds to eat egg too, but they thought it was going to kill them, and flew round the room instead of eating it! It feels a bit weird, giving a bird egg to eat, though I suppose in the wild birds often eat eggs, or other birds. I think the only animals cockatiels eat in the wild are insects though - we've tried that too for ours, without any success...

  • @mikepepler isnt it kinda wrong to see your pet eating its distant cousin though? :/ i know its weird for me... my birds actually eat anything that they cant find. Their weekly diet includes: Egg, bread, variety of soups, chicken, red meat, fruit, vegetables... ANYTHING... except for cheese. They do eat their seeds everyday as well.

  • @MichelleCommentsYou Yes, I agree, the whole 'birds eating eggs' thing is a bit weird! That's probably why I've not persevered with ours...

  • @mikepepler whats the daily diet of your bird?

  • @MichelleCommentsYou Our birds eat a mixture of seeds, and also have toast, cooked rice, cucumber, lettuce, dandelion leaves, grass seeds, hawthorn leaves and occasionally carrot.

  • @mikepepler my birds favourite is rice :) we just clipped the wings today sadly :(

  • I had a lot of fun watching your video :) I miss having a cockatiel! Quite noisy sometimes though. Have you gotten yours to eat "healthy" food as well, such as fruit?

  • @grobanite3388 Yes, they certainly can be noisy! We've not persuades ours to eat fruit, but they do eat cucumber, carrot, lettuce, dandelion leaves and hawthorn leaves, so they're not too bad on their healthy foods.

  • @mikepepler Oh that's not bad! My parents' bird is afraid of anything that has a weird color or look, so he doesn't eat anything but seeds. We've tried to get him to eat healthy food but he went on a hunger strike, lol!

  • @grobanite3388 Our birds are scared of new things too, but we have a place on their cage where we peg things for them to eat, and if you leave the new stuff in that place they get used to it after a few days and then go to try it.

  • @mikepepler That sounds like a good idea, we should try one specific item and leave it there, exchanging it when it gets too gross, and probably eventually he'll eat it. Thank you for the tip!

  • wow pete having fun:) he is adorable.

i got two cockatiels and it seems mine two never rest..

they never in the cage, none of my birds in the cage and they always lookin how to get them selves in the trouble.

i love pete he has such a nice manners:) go pete

  • Ours shout too when they hear a video playing of a cockatiel, even if it's just themselves being played back! They also shout at certain kinds of birds they can hear outside. So they still do it even with two of them there! We got two so Pete wouldn't be lonely when we were out, but the downside is that he doesn't spend as much time with us as he has to keep Tom under control! They're both great though, and give us a lot of amusement!

    Mike

  • I just got a cockatiel today! Hes still a little frightened because of the new surroundings but he was happily singing out to your bird. Great job!

  • Pleased to hear they get on! :-)

  • Interesting story. Two months on (Today) i was showing him random videos of cockatiel's singing on youtube but my bird seemed uninterested. As soon as i played this one he started singing back to Pete.

So, so far this is the only vid that my bird responds too :).

  • Have you got any videos of yours singing? If you upload one I'll see what Pete and Tom make of him!

Oh, and Pete's very pleased to have an audience ;-)

  • just need to find my long lost video camera :P..

  • I enjoyed your movie you are good people remember birds are the eyes and ears of heaven I have two birds like you have inyour movie and they eat lunch with me and we take naps together in the afternoon
