I agree with your view on the nine of coins, in that she does have expectations for financial independence, and she wants her own home. I don't see Lennie as trying to get away with anything, she doesn't have that kind of heart. I saw that she wanted a relationship that wasn't open to her, and she kept hope for that to change. She needed to recognize it as an unrequited love.
the way I read the spread is that he will end up working in an institutional place as a hospital or school, and that he'll be talking to someone soon about it and he should take a chance on it. With the 9 coins, that simply represents his desire to be independent financially from others and to enjoy his own home. The 7 swords, his attitude, showed that maybe he was trying to get away with something that wasn't entirely true, possibly on the resume', and that he needs to be careful.
