African Americans do have beautiful hair and it is very versatile. African Americans can do so many different things with their hair that no other race can do. The problem is that African Americans are so conditioned to getting their hair relaxed because of what society says or what they are used to. With natural hair, I know that hair grows quicker and is longer than many relaxed African American hair unless your lucky. :) Embrace the beauty of African American hair because IT IS BEAUTIFUL.
I disagree when people with extremely thick hair say they don't have "good hair". I would love to have thick coarse hair! Instead my hair is extremely soft, and elasticated, with a looser curl pattern. It tangles excessively when I wash it, and sheds a lot. I would be sooo happy with nice thick coarse hair (call it nappy if you like). I would love it!

If i had taken all the money I spent on wigs,weaves and ponytails and had spent it treating and buying the products to look after my OWN hair it wouldn't have taken me so long to get to this stage. My hair now is all natural,I get fornightly steam treatments, keep it moisturised and wrapped at night and use the flat iron once or twice a week and my hair is now at the middle of my back.

The only problem is that so many women, don't have a clue about how to properly care for it with PH Balance Moisturizers, Proteins, Heat Protectors, Stretching Relaxers, etc, My relaxed hair is very thick and will be Lower BSL hair will be MBL in less than 6-months. I have started using protective styling. But my relaxed hair is still breaking on the ends. I dont know what to do. Any advice would help. I am moisturizing daily and I have tried cone-free moisturizers. I get lots of little hairs coming out on my hand still.
@kmcl11 To help to stop excessive shedding/breakage, try applying Grandma's Molasses to wet hair, then cover it with a shower cap or plastic bag for atleast an hour. You should notice much stronger and softer hair after the 1st application.
@ephiphany100 Hmmm I can try that. I did use Aphogee's two step and that helped stop some of the breakage, but I still see some. So I will start to moisturize again and even try what you say. However molasses is not really a protein. At least I son't think so.

Molasses are extremely thick and stickier than honey, so make sure to wet your hair, as well as, your fingers as you apply it generously to each section and your scalp. African Americans do have beautiful hair and it is very versatile. African Americans can do so many different things with their hair that no other race can do. The problem is that African Americans are so conditioned to getting their hair relaxed because of what society says or what they are used to. I disagree when people with extremely thick hair say they don't have "good hair". I would love to have thick coarse hair! Instead my hair is extremely soft, and elasticated, with a looser curl pattern. It tangles excessively when I wash it, and sheds a lot. I would be sooo happy with nice thick coarse hair (call it nappy if you like). I would love it!

If i had taken all the money I spent on wigs,weaves and ponytails and had spent it treating and buying the products to look after my OWN hair it wouldn't have taken me so long to get to this stage. The only problem is that so many women, don't have a clue about how to properly care for it with PH Balance Moisturizers, Proteins, Heat Protectors, Stretching Relaxers, etc, My relaxed hair is very thick and will be Lower BSL hair will be MBL in less than 6-months. I just checked my email and noticed some feeback in relation to my last comment...I NEVER ment to insult the lady in the video... she is beautiful. However, being a mixed heritage person, people often say things like "oh you are mixed that's why you have that kind of hair or length of hair". The lady in the video doesn't look mixed race, and I am assuming that she isn't...either way she is beautiful...

Hi ,I love this theory I am all about trying to grow gaining length with naturally coarse hair textured like mines. I am having a Glorious hair contest where ladies can compete to grow longer length. The cash prize is $150 starting 1/1/2011. Guidlines are on the my channel Prayerandlove.

I have started using protective styling. But my relaxed hair is still breaking on the ends. I dont know what to do. Any advice would help. I am moisturizing daily and I have tried cone-free moisturizers. I get lots of little hairs coming out on my hand still.

@kmcl11 To help to stop excessive shedding/breakage, try applying Grandma's Molasses to wet hair, then cover it with a shower cap or plastic bag for atleast an hour. You should notice much stronger and softer hair after the 1st application.

@ephiphany100 Hmmm I can try that. I did use Aphogee's two step and that helped stop some of the breakage, but I still see some. So I will start to moisturize again and even try what you say. However molasses is not really a protein. At least I son't think so.

Molasses are extremely thick and stickier than honey, so make sure to wet your hair, as well as, your fingers as you apply it generously to each section and your scalp.
