  • I like Izrael Kamakawiwaole's version

  • Wow I wish one of my video's was that popular.

  • I saw the original it's classic!!!

  • My brother got me a 78 of this off ebay. He wouldn't say how much it was, but I cherish it; almost as much as the memory of a balmy summer evening concert by Nat and getting to meet him afterward. (Long ago, celebrities did that sort of thing,,,,,gentlemen and ladies).

  • I watched this for a woman I care for deeply and she looks like Her , the Mona lisa, I really must visit the painting

  • ciao belle

  • Number 1 song in the USA the day I was born, August 3, 1950

  • Great song by a great singer. It kept playing in my head, don't know why but I just had to hear it. Must be one of those spirits hangin' around me that wanted to hear it too...LOL

  • i can play this song on my saxophone :D

  • I stumbled upon tis randomly...and I'm glad I did!!

  • This...being REAL MUSIC will always be the choice of Retirees at their Retirement village meets until the end of time. I visit many...and not a soul ever wants hear RappKrapp.

  • @hattonhall i love how your trying to make a valid point to show your superiority in taste etc etc ..yet'you statement is over ridden with ignorance and hypocracy...of course people wouldnt want to hear rap .the generations now.it wasnt theres and to jumble a whole genre together is just plain ignorant.theres tons of garbage rap;but there plenty of amazing hip hop and before u spit the cliche that its all degrading women and blin bling..i despise commercial rap.open your mind to all music. peace

  • I did not say it was "Better" only that it was genuinely MUSIC and SINGING. Rap is not and is MOSTLY spoken and often profane. The older generation regularly tell me that disgusts them about Rap.

The term "RapKrapp" is not of my making. I heard it from a group of retirees while discussing modern day music in general.

Don't make the big mistake of ASSUMING that you know how others come to choose their positions on anything.

ME deriding others? Read your OWN WORDS Dr.APE!

  • Suggest u read all the posts proving that the REAL MUSIC AND REAL SINGING of Nat King Cole brought them to tears, touched their hearts and very depths of their souls over a lifetime.

It will only be when you can humble yourself to think at that level that you will understand the position of others on that.

"That Hip Hop Rap song full of profanity brought me to tears and touched my very heart and soul" ?

I have yet to hear that from anyone.

  • @hattonhall AGAIN.IGNORANT.PROFANITY.DO YOU BELIEVE EVERYTHING THE MEDIA TELL YOU .youre a puppet.search brother ali writers block.

  • @hattonhall tells you*

  • Nat has always been one of my personal favs. He has much more melody than Sinatra, I think and he's much more consistent!

  • My favorite crooner from my childhood and backed up by another great Lou Rawls!

  • Don't forget he was also one of the greatest Jazz pianists of the 20th century. Buy his trio albums to appreciate the full range of his talents. A genius musician who was also blessed with one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.

  • the words and music are so silky ,never seems to date ,top notch from all those years ago.

  • why this song sounds like cinderella soundtrack 1950??

  • So sad he had to die so young...what an amazing voice.

  • QUANTAS VEZES,VC CANTOU PARA MIM,

  • great song, the singer? a LEGEND !!! --- thanks for sharing

  • Attended George Benson's concert at the Kennedy Center honoring Nat King Cole last night. Now I know who influenced his singing. One of the best parts of the show was the tape playing of Benson singing this song at seven years old.

  • Wish I had been there. Saw him in Sydney 20years ago. A knockout!

  • Nat King Cole... a wonder of the world.

  • beautiful^^

  • it is one of my favourite song from my childhood

  • Love NKC the first time i heard his song n that was 35yrs ago.

  • Concam....It is humorous! But She's a sweet lady and it made my day! Thanks for the reply. I am glad you also like this music.

  • @avdreader1 ye im playing this for my grate gran who sadly pased away a couple of months ago

  • Wait, haven't I heard this in a mobster movie before?

  • I LOVE Nat King Cole! I am 54 and I have an elderly neibor. I played this for her, and she gave me a kiss on the cheek.

  • @avdreader1 Good for you! : )

  • @avdreader1 lol

  • amazingly uplifting, gentle on the ears!

  • Beatles critic says: Beatles and their successors drove this kind of music to extinction, Thanks to payola and boppers. And nobody writes poetry anymore, or poetry in songs. OH WELL, when you are HIGH you don't appreciate the good stuff anyhow.

  • Used to sing this song while driving my dad to family get togethers. He would tell me to shut up, then we'd laugh and do a duet. Memorable post. Thanks.

  • major swooooooooon.............

  • this song was played at my grate grans funeral RIP granny (Liked this vid btw)

  • I have been a fan of Nat King Cole since about 1950s and I am still a fan in 2011. I have been watching him on U Tube tonight. Superb.

  • love it

  • Goes to show that good articulation and vocabulary can overcome even racial barriers, even 40 years ago. Maybe "the hood" aint down with it but this is one of the greatest artists of all time.

Such a waste of those who keep trying to see a difference between all the people.

  • I think he had the best voice of anyone - ever. Just a few words and I melt!

  • We aRE singing this in the barbershop chorus and I love it. I never knew who sang it until I saw the title. I really like this. I like the way Cole was. The way he moves the music and how powerful his lyrics are

  • nice song to hear i love it!

  • *Bella*

  • I think I'll change my name to Nat King Cole.

  • I've seen the ending part of the movie wherein this song was rendered after 3 decades past. That's when I know that this was the theme of a movie.

  • Great video, thanks for the upload!

  • Good thing they finally found the identity of Mona Lisa!

  • Nat King Cole NEVER DIES.

  • @discouniverse hello KKK supporter you're not wanted around here

  • @discouniverse live us alone and go listen what you want, fuck out of here, why are you here if you dont want to listen this song... fucking idiot

  • @tschagaraga you may say just live us and go too another film

  • 3 minutes and 18 seconds of which can only be described as pure serenity.

  • No such class comparable to him to day , not buble , not connick jr , nobody , non at all :(

  • my father sang just like him. he too is now gone on to greener pastures, but the songs remain. thanks nat, thanks dad x

  • in 1975, young and risk-taker that i was ... i took a picture of the mona lisa on display at the national museum madrid, spain. i waited until all the guests left the room (less than a dozen of them), then i took the shot ... no flash, just natural lighting ... no taking of pictures was allowed, but i was able to do it. how cool was that. i still have the picture until today.

  • the6 people that dislike this are artists that didnt get a song made for their paintings. its an amazing song. an amazing singer. but they are just jealous..

  • Nat, Dean Martin, Engelbert, Tom Jones, Al Martino. I am missing lots too. Is there even one person in that class today?

  • paborito kong singer at awit

  • What was up with that old guy that pops up?

  • we danced to this song 50 years ago while we were dating each other

  • my late father used to sing this song too,.he died last august 15 2011,.missed him so much

  • @nacordable I am sorry! R.I.P

  • I took a painting of the Mona Lisa, then turned it black and white and then made it into a negative. After I did that and then turned it upside down. Guess what I found next to her face? Leonardo Da Vinci Himself. Take a look at my videos and see it for yourself.

  • Pure class.

  • Such a poetic song. Just wonderful, beyond words.......

  • I had no idea this was an Oscar winning song. I'd only heard it in Rear Window. Very interesting.

  • i know who Mona Lisa is....anyone wanna know?

  • Beyond words , beyond any kind of expression.. Thanks

  • Hard to believe he was "just" a piano player at first. Incredible song and voice.

  • Mona Lisa and Ramblin' Rose are two of my favorites by Nat King Cole. The sound is excellent !

  • What a great voice Nat had!!

  • :) Father of All Sciences : Leonardo D Vinci's unconquerred painting for ever :)

    A great tribute!

  • :)

  • leonardo da vinci 's MONA LISA......... most treasured painting on this planet....

  • i love it :D

  • thankyou for posting this beautiful song

  • This song brings me to tears , it's beautiful , tender and emotional . A true classic from the American songbook !!!

  • A song sang by a singing god.

  • wonderful song- what great music is all about.

  • Mmm~ <3

  • Now we know who mona lisa is. It is a boy, it was Leonado Da Vincis assistant and gay lover. Da Vinci was gay. lol

  • I'm not sure why, but this song reminds me of Christmas, but it's still such a great sing

  • a cold and lonely, lovely work of art.....

  • thank you so much

  • How on earth can 3 people dislike this. What planet do they come from. This is as near perfection as it's possible to get.

  • 3 people needs love in their lives...

  • why does this remind me of tom and jerry?

  • @littleengie lol because the show used a lot of the same types of instrumentation?

  • Life is like a mona lisa smile so vibrant yet a mixture of misry mixed with moments of escatsy slowly moving towards death hoping for ever on etenal life

  • I've heard this song hundreds of times and it still brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it. His voice is priceless.

  • Nat did not want to do this song, but his wife convinced him that it was something special and so he recorded it. Ever since that day the song and the special artist

who sang it have become a one of a kind jewel in the world of music.

  • I love this song. His voice is really warm, and the chord progression is intoxicating.

  • I have all of Nat's albums I can never find a favorite.. But The Christmas Song will be in my heart forever

  • music used to be so...real

  • @wayla711MJ829 It still is. The only problem, is that revered music nowadays isn't. Music has, and will always be sentimental and pertinent to us; we just have to know where to look. Fortunately, this music has been revered over time, but even society's esteem of this song specifically doesn't compare to one of Pitbull's views.

  • Thanks, Dianavblog!

  • You can just feel the love that Cole has for Jazz music itself whenever he sings.

  • My name is Mona...Nat was my Moms fav...she wanted my middle name to be Lisa...my dad put his foot down said no so middle is Elizabeth..pretty close...I hate being called Mona lisa...but love Nat and this song....pure enjoyment in his voice...no

    one can compare....

  • The movie "The Freshman" brought me here!

  • i sang this song this morning and my teacher asked me: "what is that?"

  • This song is slightly disney to me for some reason. Not the lyrics obvoiusly but you know the meldy and tone of his voice.

  • beautifull tune there is specualtion that leonardo based her smile on an adolecent boy who he was in love with for many years.

  • @hargohargo2 Please continue with your speculation. Which adolescent boy was Nat King Cole in love with?

  • @57highland leonardo da vinci was in love with two adolecent boys not nat king cole

  • @hargohargo2 da Vinci was in love with TWO adolescent boys? Were you one of them?

  • @57highland yes but unfortunately im 516 years old today so i have lost my ''boyish looks''

  • @hargohargo2 That's OK. I'll set you up with my mother or father. But I gotta dig 'em up first.

  • So beautiful...I was born in 1990, but my father was born in this era of music. He has a huge room in my household with literally 1000s of records and he would play various older music on the weekends. I don't understand why my generation doesn't appreciate music like this...it's just so angelic.

  • @NeedleOnTheLue One word....media hype about nothing music....pop culture..you don't have to have real talent..just do something outrageous...and your a shoe-in

  • Such a beautiful song delivered with such heart and sincerity pure genius.

  • I was named Mona for this song was my Moms favorite singer...pure perfection in his voice...although my father stopped at giving me the middle name of Lisa...chose Elizabeth instead...but this song will allways remain dear to my heart because of my Mom

  • My father used to sing this song, in the younger days. When he went into a coma I played the tape of this song and he would actually open his eyes for a few seconds. When he came out of his coma I asked him if he remembered hearing this song. He said he didn't remember this song, but he remembered that something woke him up and he wanted to find out what it was. He has since passed, and everytime I listen to this I have such fond memories of my father.

  • Nat King Cole is like a fine wine. Only gets better with age.

  • Beautiful song. :-)

  • wow... i didn't know music this true and this beautiful existed

  • <3

  • Music itself is timeless. The only effect of age has is the amount of exposure you have to different genres. I pity people who only listen to one style of music. There's so much out there that you're only hurting yourself by not exploring. I went to school with a lot of people that strictly followed the trends, but I never understood that. How can you hear a voice like Nat King Cole and not be affected?

  • Cóż, czy twój uśmiech ma kusić kochanków, Mona Lisa?

Czy jest to sposób na ukrycie złamanego serca?

Wiele marzeń zostało przyniesionych przed twój próg

Tam zostały oszukane i tam umarły.

Czy jesteś ciepła, czy jesteś prawdziwa?

Lub zimna i samotna, (jak) piękne dzieło sztuki?

  • OK thanks for your reply tc

  • what difference does it make if they mention their age? Scraping the barrel for something to whinge about aren't we?

  • @scoppio07 I didn't really mean it maliciously. I had just been browsing a lot of videos from the 20's-50's and noticed a trend of people saying "I am x age and enjoy x artist." it just seems odd that people feel that need to identify themselves as "that young person who likes old music."

  • @gandletron Its interesting you say that, when you go into a lot of these peoples profile they lie. There are some people who say I'm only 15 and I listen to (fill in the blank) when you click on there profile it says there 30 years old, lol.

Nat King Cole, what a beautiful voice, he would have been a great narrator =D

  • It would be nice if everyone stopped advertising how young they are and how much they love nat king cole, billie holiday, louis armstrong, etc. You can leave out the whole "I'm only 15" part, and instead just say, "I sure do love Nat King Cole"

Speaking of which, I sure do love Nat King Cole.

  • @gandletron

You should be happy that my generation still listen to real music and not that bullsh*it Lady Gaga poison!

  • @DWOY Respond to this video... I am, and I understand because I'm part of that generation. All I meant is that it's odd that people identify themselves as "that young person who listens to old music." Why even think about that and instead just enjoy the music?

  • im 18 and im in love with Nat king cole and his daughter. his voice is so beautiful. And on the colabo for when i fall in love she sounds like a female version of him.... they just touch my heart. Todays music doesn't compare

  • heartbreaking! the song's so beautiful! thanks for posting!

  • smooth. thats the only word that comes to mind.

  • i am in love with this voice forever angie

  • You don't hear songs like this anymore. I could listen to this over and over again; this, and Ramblin Rose.

  • im only 19 years old....i love this man songs lol my frinds make fun cause this is what i like to listen to in the car

  • @kekenew09 well youre friends are stupid, no offense. maybe they should learn what real music is? make them listen to this :)

  • @kekenew09 My friends used to also. Don't worry about it. Just enjoy this beautiful song

  • 60 years old and still going strong; this song will FOREVER stand the test of time. In 40 years, when this song turns 100, it'll still bring tears to peoples' eyes

  • ahh the memories

  • I am 53 and my dad used to sit me on his knee and sing this song to me.....I also remember my mom playing her 78 records and Nat King cole would be singing so velvety and we would dance....they are both gone and I miss them but have many many fond memories.

  • My mother listened tro Nat "King" Cole as long as I can remember..until the day she died...Every Sunday like clockwork I'd stop by my mother's home and we'd have coffee and Nat would be on her cassette player..She's gone now but those memories linger on. I still love listening to him..

  • my dads best friend when i was a kid sang this to me as my dad loved NAT now funny his moms name was mona,,,my mom wanted to name me karen...

i want to know what was the fascination w her?

  • maybe im over looking it.......but i think that the mona lisas eye and the illuminati eye...(on the dollar bill) look like the same eye??

    hmmmm..i think it is yo!!!!

  • When I was a little boy, I used to hear my father singing this song. I could be 4 or 5 yrs old, when he talked to me about Nat King Cole. He mentioned Araneta Coliseum where he watched the "King" performed.

Now my father is old, recently I bought him a set of hearing aid and CDs of Mr Cole, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. We are thousands of miles apart, but I want to have my father feel that I love him and I cherish the moments when he shared his music with me.

  • so cool

  • a pure heavenly gift thats what that man was!

  • Im pretty young, I listen mostly to current music but I would say that is the purest voice I have ever come across. Cole's voice all the way through that song is simply breath taking. Wow.

  • @biggles132 For a female voice like that, check out Keely Smith

  • that was a reply to mrmcnam1 btw

  • you mean that time when it was on display in the us, and that mobster stole it, replaced it with a copy, and that now the mona lisa is in on a mantlein a fancy mansion in queens owned by an "olive oil importer"?

  • Bravo , bravo
