Who tells the truth?? Mr Brugger or mr Tijssen ? I'm from Denmark where the movie had some nice comments from the press. If I had the money I would travel to mr Tjissen and film him at he's work, and then show the true story!! I believe in you Mr. Tjissen
As a documentary enthusiast, we often like to think we are doing amazing work making or watching docs that have the top statistics and talking heads – or engaging the ‘chicken little’ syndrome. This film is a deep sociological study, mixed w/ humor, suspense, and the amazing access to places no conventional documentary could go. If one does understand this film, then I would blame his/her lack of knowledge about imperialism, colonialism, race, and hegemony more than the director.
I just heard an interview with Mads Bruggar on the radio (TheWorld), which prompted me to find out as much as I could about this incredible project. It seems highly intriguing, and I hope to see the film in its entirety one day.
In THE AMBASSADOR Mr. Brugger Cortzen falsely accuses the Liberian Government and consultants of bribery and corruption. Neither the Government of Liberia nor its employees nor any external consultants have ever received or been paid any bribery for corruption, nor have they sold diplomatic passports or honorary positions; neither to respected citizens and most certainly not to criminal individuals as Mr. Brugger Cortzen implies in his project. He received where he came for.
@willemtijssen Either you must be working for the Liberian government or the Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize Committee, as they are the only person ignorant enough to really believe your statement above. In which world do you live?
@willemtijssen Are you living in clud cuckoo land or are you being sarcastic ? Hard to tell. Your almost implying there is no corruption in Africa (corruption amongst the brutes running some African countries; and the corruption between the brutes and Western & Far Eastern corporations & states
@JusticeNature Of course there is corruption in Africa. I don't deny. But Brugger hits the wrong nail on the head because he filmed with a "tunnel vision" to proof the non excisting and made that a reality. He is the one who intented to bribe as he confirms in The Ambassador. That is a crime. Or does that not count for Brugger?
@willemtijssen I suppose I will need to watch it before I can make an assessment. I tend to lean towards anything that highlights these kinds of problems. It sickins me to the stomach when i see and hear of corruption, wars, fake politicians and greedy/inhuman businessman from around the world abuse Africa. If people can think of creative ways to highlight problems that may be the spark needed to help make changes (however small).
@JusticeNature : We did not corrupt or bribe any one but only paid external consultants for recommendations. The Lib. government followed the legal procedures via Interpol and the Security Agencies. Brugger got his official appointment in July 2011 but does not tell his viewers. The money he gave to the lawyer he got back forgets to mention. Hidden cameras, signing secrecy/confidentiality agreements, and no adversarial response to his victims. That is underhanded. Now you!
Blood Daimond but than in real life - Love this guy! He really goes as far as possible in his role, even if he has to be a comical bastard. Sublime :-D
