Beautiful amp, however, would the Class 5 be almost the same, minus the tremolo circuit for the most part? Sorry for being cheap guys, but I'm looking for great tone without a ton of dinaro
... talking , okay , 5 minutes , ... and an ibanez .
i'm done , i'd rather watch some simpsons episodes thant hearing that guy slaughtering some hendrix like some smash baby seals on the head . brutally . the amp is good though , the guitar is not bad and the player can do something as a salesman , but the combination of three even if it might sound quite correct , is actually awful . like , 5% of the potential of the amp demo-ed .
For a fraction of the price, I would choose the newer Marshall Class 5 for 97% of my playing (personal choice of course). Also, just a tip for demos, it's best to keep the dialogue brief, followed up by some sound examples of what you are discussing. Also more playing is helpful too. Otherwise, an just an Ok review.
Any 1000$ Ibanez blows away any 3000$ Les Paul especially those 2008 standarts which sound like Korean made crap and have glue stains all over the nut, which is unacceptable for Gibson....but for the people outside of US American made guitar seems so perfect....
No, not really. Ibanez is good for high gain, heavy saturation and that's it, there's no life to it, no character. A good Les Paul, Strat, Tele, the classics, all have their own thing going on that makes them the timeless classics they are
the guitar does not the player make.......guitars and pickups are much less relavent to gain or tone than an amp does.........i dont think theyres any less life in an ibanez than in a fender...ill take em both and play em both the same
They missed another thing in this: the channels can be bridged giving a wider variety of tonal shaping. Each channel is voiced a little different and they interact. This is one of the biggest features of this amp.
I love that fact that he talks for 5 minutes before he even plays the amp...not. And also that he straight rocks out. haha dude...your doing a demo of the amp...not on stage melting faces.
A couple of years ago, I found one of these at a local pawn shop, all original but with 30 years of wear and tear, for 400 bucks. Man, I wish I would have bought it. I'll never find that kind of deal again.
you cant really demonstrate a marshall classic and go for a marshall classic tone wiht an ibanez i love them but you cant i mean you need a gibson guitar or a strat if your playing some cream related stuff(bluesier)
hi. does this mean , if we use a Marshall amp, there is no need to use a ME 50 processor. I am confused. Does Marshall amp comes along with effects ???? Please clear my doubt. Thanks.
Marshall tube amps come without effects...The MG and AVT series got effects on them. When u buy an amp in this price class, u choose your own analog effects, so no build in stuff.
The Marshall 18W has a whole range of clean and distortion tones, full of rich harmonics, which come from the tubes. So you can throw away all your fuzz pedals, because this amp does it better. It also has the built-in tremolo. With an 18W, my pedals are gathering dust now.
will this amp get any more volume if you plug into a second 12" spkr cabinet? will it decrease or increase? I used to have a Carvin Nomad and when I would plug an extra Carvin spkr cab, the volume would decrease. I have a 1974x but haven't gigged with it yet. I am a little tentative on if it would be loud enough.
This amp does sound louder with the extra speaker. The power level is the same, but it spreads the sound more efficiently. Alternatively, you swap the stick Celestion G12M Greenback speaker, for a Celestion G12H-30 (like Hendrix used) and it will get quite a bit louder.
it won't get louder it is an 18 watt amp and it will put out 18 watts of power adding another speaker or changing the speaker will only change the tone of the amp if you plug it into a 30 watt speaker that doesn't mean it will suddenly change to a 30 watt amp
True, 18 watts will remain 18 watts no matter what speaker is used, but different speakers have different efficiencies / yields... For instance, V30's sound quite a bit louder than a Greenback played at the same volume/settings because it handles the incoming signal with a higher efficiency. Not just because thay are voiced different.
what an awefull guitar. Those super hot wound humbuckers do not match the vintageness of the amp. he should use a strat or lp for best comparisons in a demo. Not too bad of a guitarist though
honestly this is the exact same tone you can get from a carvin legacy amp, watch steve vai in g3 tokyo the audience is listening its teh exact same tone
amazing i was able to try one at my music store and they let me plug in a vintage tube screamer and i just basically boosted the signal by turning the drive and tone down lower and the turning up the level if you have a tube screamer and an eq pedal it will be very easy to get a wide range of sounds out of this thing!
Man whatever that amp sounds dynomite! I could take a bite out of that tone. No offense to anyone intented but if to your ears that sounds fat & flabby but a Epi jr sounds better you should only be allowed to play air guitar or maybe a tennis raquet.
Man thats probably the best that Ibanez will ever sound. Its the amp obviously lol. I would have demoed that amp with a guitar that could achieve the 74 tone. Cant really do that with an Ibanez metal guitar.
this is so true. that's a ridiculous choice. anyways, why does he speaks for 4 min and a half when he cuold just play? i'm not a marshall fun at all but this amp is a killer..
I was goign to build a kit amp based on the marshall 18 watter but I've come to the conclusion that, based on the clips I've heard.. I don't like this amp. Whether it's the reissue of the kits based on the circuit, they all seem to sound a bit flat and dull and flabby. I'll need to hear one in person but right now I think my $120 EP valve Jr sounds better.
that's what I'd like to know. I actually went with a Rocky Top 18 watt clone and it sounds fantastic. It's got Heyboer trannies. I hear the Marshall reissues had trannie problems but don't know the brand.

The volume never decreases. You just think it sounds quieter because the speakers displace sound a little differently through a 4x12 cabinet.
