  • This is Gearwire. How come they didn't show the box and explain the warrantee card?

  • The original came with KT66 power tubes. EL34's??

  • I like how he explains the history and design of this amp. Alot of work goes into recreating these amps.

    Keep it up bra!!!

  • They started making these in 1965 NOT 1966. Wow marshall doesn't even know when they made their own amps.

  • Take a Les Paul and do this Test once more PLease :) but a , It is still an Amazing Amp , with an Outstanding Tone , for me the NR1 Amp .

  • the last guitar i would chose to try that amp

  • sure is a perty lookin amp - still trying to find someone playing a strat/tele thru one tho... :-\

  • I like the first few minutes of talking, its good to know a bit about what youre about to listen to

  • Are you an English teacher?

  • Beautiful amp, however, would the Class 5 be almost the same, minus the tremolo circuit for the most part? Sorry for being cheap guys, but I'm looking for great tone without a ton of dinaro

  • 5:28 too skip his insightful talking

  • wow, 65k views nice!

  • demo this amp with a ibanez guitar, what a retard. get a les paul or at least a fender

  • ... talking , okay , 5 minutes , ... and an ibanez .

i'm done , i'd rather watch some simpsons episodes thant hearing that guy slaughtering some hendrix like some smash baby seals on the head . brutally . the amp is good though , the guitar is not bad and the player can do something as a salesman , but the combination of three even if it might sound quite correct , is actually awful . like , 5% of the potential of the amp demo-ed .

  • @GroovyGuitar02 He Reviews amps... what do you expect. And he's one of the best players ive heard.

  • @GroovyGuitar02 Thumbs up for your comment - since this option is not available for me (don't know why)

  • bla bla bla bla....... play!

  • Anyone know what model Ibanez guitar he is using?

  • For a fraction of the price, I would choose the newer Marshall Class 5 for 97% of my playing (personal choice of course). Also, just a tip for demos, it's best to keep the dialogue brief, followed up by some sound examples of what you are discussing. Also more playing is helpful too. Otherwise, an just an Ok review.

  • A clasic Amp need a classic Axe Les Paul plus Marshall is like bread and butter they go together

  • Handy info tho!

  • Five and a half minutes of yakking.....some disjointed guitar wanking almost as an after-thought in the last minute or so.......way to go.....

  • silly demo... play a Les Paul through it to hear what it's supposed to sound like. Do not buy this amp to play jazz..

  • Nice classic amp should have been demonstrated by a classic guitar. Thanks for the info though.

  • Should have played a Les Paul through it..

  • That's what Brian Kahanek's videos are for :D

  • Any 1000$ Ibanez blows away any 3000$ Les Paul especially those 2008 standarts which sound like Korean made crap and have glue stains all over the nut, which is unacceptable for Gibson....but for the people outside of US American made guitar seems so perfect....

  • No, not really. Ibanez is good for high gain, heavy saturation and that's it, there's no life to it, no character. A good Les Paul, Strat, Tele, the classics, all have their own thing going on that makes them the timeless classics they are

  • the guitar does not the player make.......guitars and pickups are much less relavent to gain or tone than an amp does.........i dont think theyres any less life in an ibanez than in a fender...ill take em both and play em both the same

  • Nice amp ad guitar playing. If I didn't know better then this guy was playing Timmons at first.

  • They missed another thing in this: the channels can be bridged giving a wider variety of tonal shaping. Each channel is voiced a little different and they interact. This is one of the biggest features of this amp.

  • If you are planning to post a comment, please read the description on the side for information.

  • "one other thing I'd like to mention..." 4:05

"Why don't we give this a listen?" 5:26

"and you can also get your great Hendrix tones..." 6:13

  • I love that fact that he talks for 5 minutes before he even plays the amp...not. And also that he straight rocks out. haha dude...your doing a demo of the amp...not on stage melting faces.

  • I wrote the time there for a reason. Also, he's just having fun, you can tell he loves his job when he starts playing the guitar. lol.

  • Haha oh I would love his job as well. I just think its funny thats he's rocking out in the demo. hah

  • agree.

  • i wish he was using a slightly more classy guitar with such a classy amp.

  • I thought jeremy mcgrath rode dirtbikes not played guitars..

  • A couple of years ago, I found one of these at a local pawn shop, all original but with 30 years of wear and tear, for 400 bucks. Man, I wish I would have bought it. I'll never find that kind of deal again.

  • OMG 400 dollars!! You would be very happy today if you had that amp.

  • really 400dollars!! oh man..i wish i was you on that day..

  • Address the Power Transformer problem with this model. Be honest, has the problem been fix?

  • Is this amp the same as the Marshall Bluesbreaker amp or is this something all together different?

  • is a 1 speaker 18 watt version of the 30 watt

    bluesbreaker

  • you cant really demonstrate a marshall classic and go for a marshall classic tone wiht an ibanez i love them but you cant i mean you need a gibson guitar or a strat if your playing some cream related stuff(bluesier)

  • That's exactly what I thought

  • A truly fantastic player... His playing sounds very classic even with the Ibanez.

  • yall all say it sounds great now, but imagine if he played something besides and ibanez, like an SG or prs

  • hi. does this mean , if we use a Marshall amp, there is no need to use a ME 50 processor. I am confused. Does Marshall amp comes along with effects ???? Please clear my doubt. Thanks.

  • Marshall tube amps come without effects...The MG and AVT series got effects on them. When u buy an amp in this price class, u choose your own analog effects, so no build in stuff.

  • The Marshall 18W has a whole range of clean and distortion tones, full of rich harmonics, which come from the tubes. So you can throw away all your fuzz pedals, because this amp does it better. It also has the built-in tremolo. With an 18W, my pedals are gathering dust now.

  • That's amazing. I'm gonna get one when I graduate.. Getting a tweed blues junior tomorrow though lol...

  • great demo...

will this amp get any more volume if you plug into a second 12" spkr cabinet? will it decrease or increase? I used to have a Carvin Nomad and when I would plug an extra Carvin spkr cab, the volume would decrease. I have a 1974x but haven't gigged with it yet. I am a little tentative on if it would be loud enough.

  • The volume never decreases. You just think it sounds quieter because the speakers displace sound a little differently through a 4x12 cabinet.

  • This amp does sound louder with the extra speaker. The power level is the same, but it spreads the sound more efficiently. Alternatively, you swap the stick Celestion G12M Greenback speaker, for a Celestion G12H-30 (like Hendrix used) and it will get quite a bit louder.

  • it won't get louder it is an 18 watt amp and it will put out 18 watts of power adding another speaker or changing the speaker will only change the tone of the amp if you plug it into a 30 watt speaker that doesn't mean it will suddenly change to a 30 watt amp

  • True, 18 watts will remain 18 watts no matter what speaker is used, but different speakers have different efficiencies / yields... For instance, V30's sound quite a bit louder than a Greenback played at the same volume/settings because it handles the incoming signal with a higher efficiency. Not just because thay are voiced different.

  • It wont get any more powerful, but it might move a fair bit more air.

  • what an awefull guitar. Those super hot wound humbuckers do not match the vintageness of the amp. he should use a strat or lp for best comparisons in a demo. Not too bad of a guitarist though

  • Yeah, what's with the Ibanez? Break out an ES-335 or something.

  • honestly this is the exact same tone you can get from a carvin legacy amp, watch steve vai in g3 tokyo the audience is listening its teh exact same tone

  • now think what that would sound like with a strat or a les paul or a prs guitar ! sweet tone though

  • how would this amp sound using a pedal for the distortion? or as an overdrive?

  • amazing i was able to try one at my music store and they let me plug in a vintage tube screamer and i just basically boosted the signal by turning the drive and tone down lower and the turning up the level if you have a tube screamer and an eq pedal it will be very easy to get a wide range of sounds out of this thing!

  • Thats a shame to demo this amp without a gibson standard, they were made for each other.

  • Man whatever that amp sounds dynomite! I could take a bite out of that tone. No offense to anyone intented but if to your ears that sounds fat & flabby but a Epi jr sounds better you should only be allowed to play air guitar or maybe a tennis raquet.

  • Man thats probably the best that Ibanez will ever sound. Its the amp obviously lol. I would have demoed that amp with a guitar that could achieve the 74 tone. Cant really do that with an Ibanez metal guitar.

  • this is so true. that's a ridiculous choice. anyways, why does he speaks for 4 min and a half when he cuold just play? i'm not a marshall fun at all but this amp is a killer..

  • I guess he did'nt have a Steve Vai Jem or Michael Angelo Dean around to get that warm vintage tone!!

  • i could listen to this guy play all day.

  • odd choice of guitar

  • he should of used a les paul or a strat.

  • he plays great and he explains well

  • I was goign to build a kit amp based on the marshall 18 watter but I've come to the conclusion that, based on the clips I've heard.. I don't like this amp. Whether it's the reissue of the kits based on the circuit, they all seem to sound a bit flat and dull and flabby. I'll need to hear one in person but right now I think my $120 EP valve Jr sounds better.

  • This is a totally unbeleivable comment - go and try one out first, and then you go back and enjoy your Epi Valve Jr!

  • i just bought this amp used, LOVE IT.

its a 2006 with the good transformers. Its just a great amp for blues or rock.

  • What are the years to avoid the bad transformers?

  • that's what I'd like to know. I actually went with a Rocky Top 18 watt clone and it sounds fantastic. It's got Heyboer trannies. I hear the Marshall reissues had trannie problems but don't know the brand.

  • Rob Math is a great player, BTW. Also does good job reporting the products.

  • odd choice of guitar, for this amp..

  • Yeah, no kidding. It's like someone plugging a Tele into a super high gain Mesa Boggie or something.

  • tele's are acutally very common in hardcore music these days. like in band like Heavy Heavy Low Low, and underoath.

  • really good amp

  • And you are a great guitar player?

  • I'm so so, but not as good as this guy.

  • @joeb0 Haha. Humility is what I like to see :P Thanks for posting sir.

  • kool amp

  • are you Rob math?

  • No.

  • this guys is definitely funckin'awesome, he can do every kind of music, really good blues licks ! some rock ! shred ! jazz !

  • that is TONETONETONETONE

  • thanks for the post! beautiful tone, and i don't mind hearing all about the construction of the amp one bit.

  • dude ur tryin to explain the amps features not sell it to a customer get on with it next time

  • I'm not Rob. watch the DSL 100 one, he plays a lot more in that video.

  • "A killer combo amp for any player that's experienced that wants to have great clarity in their playing... and if you're NOT a great player, you're just not going to be NOT a great player but with incredible tone."

    Well said!

  • @gibby1117 Correction...... He said , "and if you're not a great player you're just gonna be,. not a great player with incredible tone..... you said you're just not going to be .... BIG DIFFERENCE....
