There are plenty of proof and well documented proof that the thieves in the U.S. tried really hard to make sure Vietnam stay backward and a colony of the French and later of the U.S. The only difference between the thieves in French and the thieves in the U.S. is that the ones in the U.S. use a lot smarter tricks. But they still couldn't win in Vietnam because the thieves racists view toward the Vietnamese exposed them the way they were.

Read, Daniels Ellsberg's book on "Vietnam Memoir and the Pentagon papers". Also read, "A people's history of the U.S" by Howard Zinn. Read the chapter on Vietnam. The fact is if you are a few that benefited from the thieves control you will resort to protect the thieves who feed you and pay you to enslave your people. But if you are like the majority of the Vietnamese people, you will oppose the thieves and fight for freedom instead. These people normally support the revolution and its leaders.

The VN War was the hot battle in the Cold War between Capitalism (led by USA) and Communism (lead by Soviet). It was too bad the VN patriotism had been misled in to the non-sense bloody war. Pre-WWII there was three super-power (USA, Soviet and UK) in the world and post-WWII there was only two (USA and Soviet). The UK was dropped out because their colonism policy. The VN had to be independent country but HCM with supporting from Soviet and China wanted VN to be under a nation ruled by communist.
