the black catholics tear their african nation apart with their witch hunts, anti-condom, sex with aids, pro-creating aids a multitude of babies with no food around to begin with so the babies becomes emaciated. same with the brown catholics in south america and the philippines. then the white protestants from here, europe and australia go over to the 3rd world nations to help the poor colored people then are filled with white guilt- evangelism THRIVES off guilt. such a bullshit cycle!
in fact you are SO safe and secure that you have to PRETEND that you are in danger because you have gotten so BORED from the safety. you go on about your struggles, and how god is testing you, that you have the hardest life. you live in such privileged times but religion doesnt want you to feel this way. they cant sell a heaven in a perfect world. which is why for them, problems = profit. religion provides hope in a world ruined by religion. the most self-fulfilling vicious cycle ever...
we are living in the most safest times in human history. disasters are normal, the news is desperate for a story, quit watching it. if you swallowed religious propaganda of the world getting more dangerous, let me say this. neolithic era- death rate, age 20. Cause- hunger, tooth decay, failed hunting. Injured/sick hunters were cannibalized by fellow desperate tribesman. Mothers delivered on a fucking dirt patch and the baby and her usually died. They were cannibalized after death.
It's a silly username, I made many years ago on a whim but YouTube won't allow a name change, you have to create another channel. I don't want to do that. I'm a much different person now than I was back, maturity-wise.
(about my previous comment) I guess for whatever reason I reached an age where I could no longer take a "leap of faith", it doesn't seem smart to me and it seems impossible to avoid seeing that God refuses to prove His existence in a way I'd trust.
@Typho0n86 *sigh* 2012 is NOT a religious prediction, it has been marked by mulitple ancient cvilizations through observation of the cosmos that every end of a long cycle destruction upon the world will and has occured. 12/21/12 will be the end of the 13th bak'tun and the start of the 14th.
@Typho0n86 Never said everyting would come to an end. Just stated an actual astronomical phenomenon is happening on that date, a complete shift of the heavens will have happened. And somehow those ancient civilizations saw this without any tech at all. And somehow they were able to know how millenia before the Earth's inhabitants were virtually destroyed 3 times by cataclysmic events, and have those on their record. Not religion at all. I am also with you on the end of dogmatic religion.
@faithandpractice Well, a lot of us have read it cover to cover several times. What's your position, that the Bible was only written for people who already believe but not for those who do not? I fail to see how one must agree with scripture in order to even grasp what its meaning is. Please elaborate.
@PainAddict666 Good question. Lk. 24:45 Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. 2 cor. 3:15-16 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 1 Cor 2 :14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
@faithandpractice I spent the first 14 years of my life believing the Christian's "Spirit of God" wasn't foolish yet when I turned to the Lord I felt nothing so spare me the no true Scotsman fallacy. I've heard it many times, I guess some of you Christians refuse to accept that some people sincerely believed then genuinely had a change of heart based on their own reasoning and intellect. However, you're missing out... it is so liberating to be free from the mental shackles of religion.
@PainAddict666 At no point did I ever even hint that "some people sincerely believed then genuinely had a change of heart based on their own reasoning and intellect". I can accept that you believed certain things as a child. However, far from being "free" you are still trapped in the matrix my friend. But then again, I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know.
@faithandpractice At no point did you even actually say anything, you let the Bible talk for you. I have no problem with that but I will address your comment as if you said those scriptures, fair enough?
One verse said a person will not receive God's Spirit if he considers it foolish. What if he doesn't?
@PainAddict666 Sure that's fair enough. "One verse said a person will not receive God's Spirit if he considers it foolish". Actually look again. That's not what's said. It says that they will not receive "the things of the Spirit'. Those "things of the Spirit" being, 'truths of the Spirit' that Paul was talking about. Having said that, will you kindly explain your question a bit?
@faithandpractice Allow me to put it this way: based on my personal experience(s), when it comes to whether or not something actually exists or not it doesn't seem to matter if you "desire" it to be. It either is or isn't. Drugs are an excellent example of this. It does not matter if you don't "believe" pot will get you high, it will irregardless of any personal bias or convictions. Otherwise I'm leaning towards the placebo effect as the likely explanation. "God" falls within this to me. =)
@PainAddict666 Well that's interesting. I don't know that I really understand where you're coming from but thanks for sharing. Question for you. In you user name you have the numbers 666. Where does that come from and why have you chosen to have it in your user name? What are those numbers? (I have an idea but I don't want to "assume")
Why then are other faiths (Muslim, Native American) also convinced that end times are upon us? Do not let your atheism blind you. Many atheists also believe that we are in end times due to nuclear war. Religion is indeed used to control people but I have seen many atheists who have turned humanism into a religion of its own.
"As with any Christian, I am always concerned for the lost, so I'll keep praying for you"
And as a critical thinker, I will keep donating to stem cell research in the hopes that they finally come up with some recombinant DNA treatment technique that can retroactively fix the malfunctioning neurons in your head.
Dearest HerrKnitler -- As usual, you bring that special brand of enlightenment to any discussion. How often do you go out to the barnyard to scoop yourself a bucket of brains? Dude, you're pathetic. As with any Christian, I am always concerned for the lost, so I'll keep praying for you.... though I'm sure it's hopeless. If ever someone came clearly from the reject/defect pile it's you. Enjoy your misery, because you're going to be YOU throughout all eternity.
There's an old saying that fits the people behind this website perfectly -- It's better to be assumed a fool than to open your mouth and erase all doubt. They're afraid because they know Jesus Christ will judge them one day for their sins, and so they waste their entire lives lying and hoping that He doesn't exist. But, Guys, He'll still get you in the end, when you will answer not only for your personal sins but for the sins of others you've caused by this message of lies.
5:18 "I think it is important to hold religious people responsible for the previous beliefs of their own religion..."
It is hugely important and they ARE responsible.
Right now 10s of millions of people are making up whole new religions on the fly and THEY HAVE NO RIGHT to fling that shit.
If you're not from the planet Krypton you are NOT SUPERMAN and if you didn't make Adam out of dust & kill the first born in Egypt then YOU ARE NOT GOD.
If you want to know about a secret plot, read an ebook - 99 cents - 'God Stopping A Nuclear War', which not only explains God and Satan as left and right brain group minds.
Left brain group mind - verbal - more Jewish like - so tries to control media, banking, Hollywood, Facebook, search engines.

Atheists will look for any excuse to not believe. How can you deny this prophecy coming true?
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
@caf789 The list you gave has been so for all of man's civilisation. Fortunately, as societies get more secular, so does the level of safety in those societies.
The Global peace index clearly shows that the more religious a society is, the less peaceful it is.
@Adamillionaire123 well by definition, no. and even if you could show that all athiests or at least some of them are "stupid", the fact that you find humor in thier stupidity is stupid, as is the fact that you go on an athiest dominated web site and assert that athiests are stupid thus setting yourself up to be ruined.
You guys seem to be really smart. So, why would you waste so much energy on this topic? Life is finite and short. Shouldn't you just go lie on some island near the equator? Deists have no power in this age, so why give them any attention? Seriously, I don't get it.
@PalaeoTheFox Whats funny is there is a sixty year old man who is building an exact replica of stonehenge by himself using simple methods of moving the heavy stones by himself...from what i've read he's not having too much of a problem.
Knowledge and wisdom are two different things! Knowledge is acquiring facts or information, but wisdom is knowing what is true and right. If your going to trust someone with your future, would believe men without wisdom? "Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." Proverbs 9:10
Personally I choose men of wisdom and go directly to the source, Jesus. In regards to the end of the world, you can believe men (even pastors, ministers) or read the bible yourself. I would start with Matthew 24:1-44
oh yeah about that last thing it's sooo true but just look at computers haha, aliens did it :D I can programme man, but just being able to appreciate how much has been done in such a short period of time, :) i call bullshit, when you look at the ACTUAL intelligence vs the level intelligence we display, I will debate you on this until the end of time, because I'm telling you I KNOW I'M RIGHT.......it's just a working miracle, even the human body, or sub conscious to experience conscious a gift.
haha the guy that called in is a fuking GENIUS, that is EXACTLY what's been going on for the last few days/moments of our history book. But he is wrong, there's nothing clever or new or exciting about what's been said, it's actually very very lame, and I'm tired of living with a bunch of crack heads! Either prove it or you're not allowed to talk about it!
Arguing with theists is like playing chess with a pidgeon. The rules of an argument consist of logic and reasoning, which is why theists don't know how to play.
@drche420 Exactly! Most theists lack the understanding that their religion is entirely based on faith, so it's literally IMPOSSIBLE to give logic explanations of their belief. On top of that, since religion is based on faith, it is impossible for them to claim that they know FOR SURE that, say, Jesus is Lord. If they know this for a FACT, then how is it even considered faith anymore? The bible says "faith w/o works is dead faith", not "facts w/o works r dead facts"! Which is why it's fiction lol
How are the "famines, earthquakes and pestilences" of today any different from the ones occurring before those supposed prophecies were written? They are happening on a bigger scale. Why? Because we are OVERPOPULATED. What causes overpopulation? When you say that condoms spread STDs, or that you should bare more children in the name of God, or feeding/healing people in the name of God. Congratulations, another SELF-fulfilled prophecy under your belt.
@bigredphenom "They are happening on a bigger scale. Why?"
Or it could simply be that media and technology has made the dissemination of news instantaneous, as opposed to gossip and fairy tales (that took god knows how long to get around), just makes it seem like things are getting worse, or as you say "big scale".
@moopism That's a very good point indeed; the media is always scrambling to get ANY coverage whatsoever, even if it's something that may ruin someone's day. Gotta fill in tho$e time gap$.
@bigredphenom You know the old saying, "no news is good news"..... well the other side of that coin is "good news is not news", so I have doubts that human nature got any better or worse (we've been pretty savage throughout history), we're just not entertained by good news.....
@bigredphenom The Earth is NOT overpopulated by humans. The only partial scientific evidence and survey of Earthly resources, combined with a liberal use of modern technologies, shows conclusively that the human population could double (14 billion) and still have a sustainable society and infrastructure.
So before running your mouth about how dumb christians believe dumb things, perhaps don't believe in dumb things yourself and do a little research.
@Gravija1980 yup your definitely a Christian, hence a fucking retard. You are probably getting your sources from like-minded religitards spreading their propaganda. But I find stupidity entertaining, so go ahead and entertain me some more (;
@bigredphenom These things usually fluctuate every hundred years and sometimes more violently, and we are more tightly populated and we have a global media(more or less). The best way to go about this is better education for as many as possible, if not, ignorance will be the end of us all.
@bigredphenom You should read your bible to know the difference of the End of Times. In Revelation chapter there are specific events to look for: 1) A ruler called the anti-christ will step into a temple of God in Jerusalem and call himself God. 2) God's two witnesses will bring havoc (tribulation) upon this world for 3.5 years those worships him. 3) Satan himself will come and kill the two witnesses in Jerusalem. 4) They will lay on streets (dead) for 3 days; then God brings them back to life.
To say none of this can ever be tested is a tiny bit ignorant. It's possible it can be in the future. But theories are what scientists use to piece together facts, so you can't really prove a theory with observations(???).
@Mofleaker Even by just observation we have changed the outcome of everything. Mofleaker, I wish I could meet you, I think we could have some real intellectual talks. To say that Quantum Theory or any type of physical science could explain the universe just doesn't seem plausible to me, and it wont be plausible until we find a way to recreate the universe which I don't think we ever will. From a Creationist to an Atheist, I wish the best for you, peaces
@Mofleaker It's not the faith that makes it plausible, it's the when you willing to turn your back on everything else for the faith that makes it plausible. Granted, you you can have faith in Satan but that doesnt make it right either. My stand point is a stand point of God, which doesnt make sense to someone who doesnt believe in God. I'm not meaning to sound rude, or 'better than you' cause I'm not. I'm just spreading my ideas and views according to a book that I hold sacred and true.
@idgrave Many people have been willing to die for gods much different than yours, gods which have been left behind and forgotten. The fact that people are willing to do a lot for their faith doesn't justify it. My standpoint is a standpoint of no god, which doesn't make sense to someone who does believe in god. Anyways, I think we're at an impasse and I don't want to drag this on too long. Thanks for the civil conversation, glad we could keep it in hand :)
A theory never becomes fact. Theories explain observations, just like the Theory of Evolution explains how evolution occured. Natural selection and random mutation are the theory, evolution itself is the fact. Just like the Theory of Relativity describes how gravity works. Relativity is the theory, gravity is the fact.
@idgrave The Universe is expanding, that is fact. The Universe contracting IS simply a hypothesis, I make no argument with that. I don't see how having faith makes your idea any better, either. I could have faith in anything, does that make it more plausible?
@Mofleaker Actually if you're interested, go check out Lawernce Krauss' lecutre "A universe from nothing". He proposes the "flat universe" which is different that the closed or open universe hypothesies. It's worth your while.
@Newenlightenmentnow Oh yeah, I've seen that. Interesting stuff, I admire his work. Very abstract, it's something you'd never expect to hear. Some people (hint: it's creationists) scoff when they hear scientists trying to justify something from nothing.
@GoodAvatar arguing with an atheist is like arguing with a five year old: their way is right, everyone else way is wrong, they're gonna bitch and wine until you conced, and they probably still shit the bed at night.. That daaid I'm going to leave this whole thing be. My religion requires me to tell you once and after that is on your head. Peaces
@iliveon if you're going to slander me, at least do it in the right way. I'm a monotheist. I believe in the One and Only God, Jehovah. Any other atheist want to comment on this or my beliefs? Please do, I welcome everything you have to say, cause it's not going to change the way I feel or any thing about my faith, if anything it only makes it stronger.
@idgrave " I welcome everything you have to say, cause it's not going to change the way I feel or any thing about my faith, if anything it only makes it stronger."
and your proud about this? Nothing can change your mind? that is willfull ignorance.
@iliveon I'm not Muslim or Hindu because I choose not to. I know what they are, and I actually kinda enjoy the way Hindu believe, but it's not for me. It's all about choice, thats what it's all about.
@iliveon Oh man, you and your superior logic totally just trumped me and my underdeveloped ways of thinking... Any one can see you're just twisting my word to fit your own means.. That's not out besting some one, that just being a dick, which most atheists seem to be really good at. I'm a follower of Jesus, which mean, I'm gonna catch hell from people like you, I'm used to it.
@idgrave Did I say you had underdeveloped ways of thinking? No. I said you thinking its about choice is saying its ok to think there are multiple gods, no gods, spirits, ghost, horoscopes etc, because its all up to choice. If its all up to choice, why go around telling people they are damned to hell all day? That goes for any religion. Maybe if I twisted your words, you shouldn't have used the wrong one in the beginning, CHOICE. Its about truth. Its about eternal torture or bliss
@idgrave Now answer me: Why aren't you Muslim or Hindu, Jew or Mormon, Taoist or Buddhist, any of the indigenous African tribal religions. Why aren't you believing in Apollo and Zeus and the many others during ancient Greece? Surely all of these people aren't damned to hell too? Why aren't you? Just answer me that. What makes them so wrong and you so right?
@iliveon You not looking for an answer to the question, you looking to find me a bigot.. This, once again, is you trying to twist whatever my answer will be, but whatever. I'm not a Muslim, or any of those because none of those religions provide away to the Father. There was ONE man, in the history of all these religion, that said, "I am the way, and the truth, none see the Father but through me." Thats a pretty bold statement, so either he's LORD and Savior or Liar.. I choose Savior.
@iliveon As far as 'Surely all these people aren't damn' I really dont know. I dont know how God judges those who have never heard the Word of God, but I can only speculate that when you die, if you have not proclaimed Jesus as LORD and Savior, then yes they are going to Hell.. That's my answers.
@iliveon What purpose would that serve at all? To try and convince me that Jesus was the same as Jim Jones or any of those cats? There's a major flaw with your 'self proclaimed' theory but since you don't believe in God it wont make much sense to you I suppose. All it comes down to is you're wasting your time and so am I talking to you.
@idgrave No, look up self proclaimed jesus on youtube, its not jim jones. Jim jones is another person who was deluded by religion. I dont have a self proclaimed theory, i do not put a god on the reason for the universe, I see it as natural. I dont see many gods, i don't see one god or another etc. I see nature and beauty. If I deserve hell according to your religion then man I will work to get rid of such terror and fear of the irrational hell and heaven. Yes its not a waste its good to learn
@iliveon I looked up the video, and I must say, what a fucked up dude for twisting truth for his own worldly benefit.. And this can be applied to all religions, one dumb ass fucking it up for everyone else. People always want to show to the world the evil people bring in the name of 'religion', which is a good thing because con artists need to be exposed; but no one ever wants to hear about the true good other bring in name of the true Son of God.
@iliveon And as far as "I see the universe as natural and beautiful" that's fine and straight, that's is not what is going to send you to hell, your ignorance in God and His Son will. That's pretty much my entire argument when I first posted my first response to this video. But I'm not here to convince you that I'm right and you're wrong, that's a waste of time. But I'm feeling edgy today so I'll just ask it, "if God doesnt exist, then scientifically, how did we get here?"I need some hard proof
@idgrave The Universe has always existed in some shape or form. As you may know, after the Universe is finished expanding, it will retract to it's original form before the big bang. After this, it will expand again just as it did those billions of years ago. How does it get the energy to do all of this? The only infinite force there is, gravity acting upon itself. Now you may say, "You have no proof!" and I agree, but neither do you. Basically your answer is as good as mine.
@Mofleaker Well Mofleak let me just go one and tell you that everything you just said, while correct, is all theory and has never been proven cause it can never be tested.. Which raises question, "Why is it called theory if it can be scientifically tested?" as for gravity, according to certain quantum physicist, goes beyond this dimension and originates in the10th or 11th dimension, so i dunno about the expanding and contraction of the universe.. I never claimed to have proof, I have faith.
@idgrave Show me a God and I will believe in a God. Faith is not a virtue, it is gullibility. If you run your life by faith, you have no means of distinguishing what is real from what is myth. You are using an argument from ignorance claiming that since you don't know how, then God of the gaps must have done it when you don't even know HOW MANY gods there truely are. Scientifically, we have not reached a conclusion and to say that we will never just slaps closed mindedness on learning.
@idgrave How did bacteria and disease get here? So far we have good reasons to believe that they came about naturally and they try to live just like we do. If you are wondering what/who/it caused the universe, why don't you use that same logic with the gods of the gaps? What would need to cause the gods? See even you will break your own argument with that one. The fact is the universe is real, matter and energy are conserved and do not disappear. It is natural, a god is not needed to explain it.
@idgrave "if God doesnt exist, then scientifically, how did we get here?"I need some hard proof "
I think the proper response to this is that you don't have a remotely consistent standard for what you require of evidence for claims about reality. The most absurd claims, like gods existing, are embraced without a shred of evidence, even though you can't distinguish thousands of god hypotheses from each other. The simple fact that nature exists however, needs elaborate explanation.
@idgrave To even begin to have a discussion about the nature of reality, one would have to start out with the fact that nature exists, figure out how much of our subjective observations of nature that we can agree on, and only then try to figure out who's right about the places one disagrees. You simply can't regard "God did it" as your null hypothesis if you want to be taken seriously.
@idgrave The proper approach is to take the observation of nature and realize that we don't actually know that nature can have a cause. Nor do we have the property of independent observers of the universe. We will necessarily observe a universe that can support us. No amount of claimed "design" can therefore distinguish between naturalism and supernaturalism when the same "design" is necessary for our own existence.
@idgrave Now, does this mean that naturalism and supernaturalism are equally good explanations? Absolutely not. The principle of parsimony, Occam's razor, is a necessary aspect of producing useful models of reality. It is the reason we don't have a theory of gravity that includes transcendental elves pushing matter together and the like. Simpler explanations are simply more likely to be true. Naturalism has one less element than supernaturalism and is therefore superior.
@idgrave You may of course argue that we don't know everything etc and dance the creationist dance, jumping from obscure scientific area to the next asking "Why?" until one gets "I don't know" as an answer. However, that is the embodiment of switching the burden of proof. That we don't know is not an argument against naturalism or for supernaturalism. Actual evidence against naturalism might make supernaturalism plausible though. Such as the laws of nature being suspended due to ritual magic.
@GoodAvatar on again, like an atheist would do, you taking what I've said out off context and turned it for your on monitary game to try and cut me down to size. I don't try and cut YOU down to size, what a TERRIBLE thing
@roont I'm sorry, and you're right. Saying things like the 'destruction of the wicked' is exactly the kind of thing that turns people away. And no, you dont deserve to burn and be tortured because you don't believe what I do, and not because you're a bad person, but there is consequence for not acknowledging Jesus as LORD and Savior.. If you're right, then when I die all I did was waste time and was oblivious while alive; but if I'm right, when you die, you have a long time to think about it..
@idgrave So, what you were REALLY trying to say in your Pascal's Wager sentence is that you're an evil douche who WANTS people to burn forever for his amusement?
That's sick, man, that's really sick. I don't wish any harm on YOU! Why would you wish your mythical and fake and TERRIBLE afterlife on me?
What the fuck is wrong with you? Are you just sadistic? Why would you want something like that on ANYONE?? Why would you worship a God that DOES THAT to helpless human beings?
The gospel must be preached to all tribes tongues and nations, and then the end will come.
This generation will not pass away till all these things happen. Anyone notice the Jews are living in their land? Time is short!
Has anyone noticed a dead empire making a reemergence lately? The beast that was and is not and yet is, the Islamic caliphate? Don't shut your eyes just yet.
@OrthodoxDarwinist I think your outlandish claim that people like me belong in a psych ward is a tad harsh, considering the reality of the state the world at this moment. Do you not see whats going on in the middle east?
Jesus is at the door . Wake up from your sleep , time is short!
@OrthodoxDarwinist So which is it? Religion,Zionism, or the Abrahamic faiths. How can "we" be moral degenerates when atheists like yourself don't put any stock in morality? Isn't one of your ilks mantras " what is truth" and there are no moral absolutes? You aren't a very good advocate for the humanist agenda are you with your grand declarations ,holier than thou superiority and overt judgemental-ism. Calm down Stalin JR.
It's both, since Zionism is really just a consequence of the self-worship and racism inherent in Talmudic Judaism.
I don't know where you supposedly learned what the morals of humanism are, but you clearly don't know very much about the subject. You might want to look at the recent social research that has proven conclusively that the more secular and less religious a society is, the lower the crime rate, higher education, lower teen pregnancy, and even lower levels of STDs.... :)
@OrthodoxDarwinist Humanism is defined by moral relativism. There has never been a study of human behaviour that has ever been "proven" or " conclusive". Societies are far too complex and behaviour too self conscious to ever come up with a viable conclusion. You sound like you should have had enough education to have understood that. If your talking about surveys, then please, an individual is the last person to judge themselves rationally and honestly. Teenagers don't know what they believe.
"RELIGIOUS belief can cause damage to a society, contributing towards high murder rates, abortion, sexual promiscuity and suicide, according to research published today.
In general, higher rates of belief in and worship of a creator correlate with higher rates of homicide, juvenile and early adult mortality, STD infection rates, teen pregnancy and abortion in the prosperous democracies."
- The Sunday Times ref. Journal of Religion & Society
@tranquility4all "Religion was designed by some people as a means to control many people."
Right. And god was designed by terrified people who had no concept of disease, weather, natural disasters, or any of the other bewildering things that constantly threatened their primitive lives.
humans created god with their ideas of why where they born, humans are born to give continuation to their existence. if you want a nice reason why you were born is the reason to be happy.
I like the last comment. That guy with the wild hair on History Channel's "Ancient Aliens" can't even pronounce the word "extraterrestrials". He keeps saying "ex-uh-ta-restrials", and makes further gross errors in English, such as confusing "jive" with "jibe". If you are going to make extraordinary claims about ancient aliens, comb your hair, learn how to speak English, and for goodness sake PROUNOUNCE THE WORD "EXTRATERRESTRIALS" CORRECTLY!!!
How pathetic am I? That's a good question. If by me believing in something that I dont need proof of qualifies as being pathetic, then yea, I guess I'm just a hopeless sheep of the mass. Infact, there is a whole lot of shit that hasnt been proven that people assume to be factual so I guess I'm not doing anything too out of the ordinary.... What's really pathetic is how all atheist react the same.... And by the by, He's not just my friend, He's your friend too, even if you dont believe it.
@VesusSheist How can I act persecuted? I dont claim to be, but the fact that everyone seems to have a problem with my beliefs are persecution enough, and as far as the American government being '99% Christian' that has to be the biggest load of horse crap I've ever heard. If they we're Christian, we would be better off than we are right now; and I aint talking fake Christian, I'm saying real, God Fearing, Children of God.
@idgrave i would be less scared of your imaginary friend if i were you, and be more scared of the braindead religious sheeple masses. Destruction of the wicked? lmao. when the nukes fly, we all go. then thats it. game over. Why do you hate life and our planet so much?
Actually, the Christians you're talking about (aka Me) aren't looking forwards to self destruction, only the destruction of the wicked, but I can't speak for all of us.. I dont see why Atheist seem to demonize Christianity so much, yet have nothing to say about any other religious beliefs. Maybe they feel threatened? And with good cause. You may not believe in a God or Jesus Christ as the one and only Savior, but that doesnt make you right. Remember that before you die.
@idgrave I think most atheists agree that Islam is just as fucked up as Christianity (maybe more), and every religion that makes supernatural claims they are all equally unsupported by evidence. But Christianity is the most pervasive religion in America. The government here is like 99% Christian -- how the shit can you act persecuted?
I'm afraid that is exactly why we are so outspoken against religion. You think that we deserve to be burned and tortured for all eternity after we die simply because we don't believe the same thing you do. I will speak out just as much against Islam, or Scientology, or Mormonism. I dislike them all the same as Christianity.
in writing for the eons to come, except for that which he gives us personally in whichever way, because it cannot handle the test of time, all the translations it must go through, especially when their done by those in power (power breeds greed, except for the wisest of men, which there is too few to recognize) who have many a time in history used it to fill out their own selfish endeavors.
the sad thing is im a christian, and as far as i know, not 2 people have the exact same view on the bible, and theres nothing wrong with people creating theories about their religion
it would actually be less scary if they all had a date soon and they were proven wrong rather than "any day now, any day now" - that is f***ing scary because that makes them want to BRING armageddon (self-fulfilling prophecy) to bring them into "the kingdom of the lord". who knows what they'll do, right?
retroactive continuity "retcon" for short is often used in fictional stories especially comic books and star trek. Well I have a BIG problem with it being used in RELIGION because you then have to admit that people of the past had the wrong information and thus were following the wrong religious rules, in other words retroactive continuity in religion usually means that ALL or almost all of the previous practicioners of the faith ended up in hell!
Jeff Dee thinks it's "important" to hold religious people "responsible" for the discredited beliefs of previous people of the same religion. What an asshole!
“Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.” (Mark 9:1) He was saying is that some who were standing there would see the kingdom of God come with power (the crucifixion) and wouldn't taste death (they'd be born again (eternal life) in Christ in which case you never see death). Studying the bible is useless if you don't have the Holy Spirit to interpret it. You will be ever hearing, but never understanding.
@thetimothyjr2155 And the principle of religious subjectivism continues to frustrate sensible people worldwide. If all "true" Christians read the bible and interpreted it through "the holy spirit" then they'd all make the same conclusions. Guess what? There are thousands of theologians out there at each others throats, all with different interpretations, all claiming to be guided by that same "holy spirit". Question is, what makes YOU right and everyone else wrong?
How come nobody can ever interpret the word of God like he clearly intended it? This God person is just completely incompetent when it comes to communicating his intentions in a way so others can understand them.

in fact you are SO safe and secure that you have to PRETEND that you are in danger because you have gotten so BORED from the safety. you go on about your struggles, and how god is testing you, that you have the hardest life. you live in such privileged times but religion doesnt want you to feel this way. they cant sell a heaven in a perfect world. which is why for them, problems = profit. religion provides hope in a world ruined by religion. the most self-fulfilling vicious cycle ever...

we are living in the most safest times in human history. disasters are normal, the news is desperate for a story, quit watching it. if you swallowed religious propaganda of the world getting more dangerous, let me say this. neolithic era- death rate, age 20.

Thanks for the exchange.

@Scytherene122190 /sigh its not going to be the end or start of anything. Dont fucking sigh me little punk!
I would love to see the end or religion, and im just saying that if you think its going to come to an end, thats a religious belief!
Typho0n86 3 months ago
@Typho0n86 Never said everyting would come to an end. Just stated an actual astronomical phenomenon is happening on that date, a complete shift of the heavens will have happened. And somehow those ancient civilizations saw this without any tech at all. And somehow they were able to know how millenia before the Earth's inhabitants were virtually destroyed 3 times by cataclysmic events, and have those on their record. Not religion at all. I am also with you on the end of dogmatic religion.

faithandpractice 3 months ago
@faithandpractice Well, a lot of us have read it cover to cover several times. What's your position, that the Bible was only written for people who already believe but not for those who do not? I fail to see how one must agree with scripture in order to even grasp what its meaning is. Please elaborate.
PainAddict666 2 months ago
@PainAddict666 Good question. Lk. 24:45 Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. 2 cor. 3:15-16 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 1 Cor 2 :14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
faithandpractice 2 months ago
@faithandpractice I spent the first 14 years of my life believing the Christian's "Spirit of God" wasn't foolish yet when I turned to the Lord I felt nothing so spare me the no true Scotsman fallacy. I've heard it many times, I guess some of you Christians refuse to accept that some people sincerely believed then genuinely had a change of heart based on their own reasoning and intellect. However, you're missing out... it is so liberating to be free from the mental shackles of religion.
PainAddict666 2 months ago
@PainAddict666 At no point did I ever even hint that "some people sincerely believed then genuinely had a change of heart based on their own reasoning and intellect". I can accept that you believed certain things as a child. However, far from being "free" you are still trapped in the matrix my friend. But then again, I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know.
faithandpractice 2 months ago
@faithandpractice At no point did you even actually say anything, you let the Bible talk for you. I have no problem with that but I will address your comment as if you said those scriptures, fair enough?
One verse said a person will not receive God's Spirit if he considers it foolish. What if he doesn't?
PainAddict666 2 months ago
@PainAddict666 Sure that's fair enough. "One verse said a person will not receive God's Spirit if he considers it foolish". Actually look again. That's not what's said. It says that they will not receive "the things of the Spirit'. Those "things of the Spirit" being, 'truths of the Spirit' that Paul was talking about. Having said that, will you kindly explain your question a bit?
faithandpractice 2 months ago
@faithandpractice Allow me to put it this way: based on my personal experience(s), when it comes to whether or not something actually exists or not it doesn't seem to matter if you "desire" it to be. It either is or isn't. Drugs are an excellent example of this. It does not matter if you don't "believe" pot will get you high, it will irregardless of any personal bias or convictions. Otherwise I'm leaning towards the placebo effect as the likely explanation. "God" falls within this to me. =)

Arguing with theists is like playing chess with a pidgeon. The rules of an argument consist of logic and reasoning, which is why theists don't know how to play.
drche420 10 months ago 2

Congratulations, another SELF-fulfilled prophecy under your belt.

@bigredphenom "They are happening on a bigger scale. Why?"
Or it could simply be that media and technology has made the dissemination of news instantaneous, as opposed to gossip and fairy tales (that took god knows how long to get around), just makes it seem like things are getting worse, or as you say "big scale".

@moopism That's a very good point indeed; the media is always scrambling to get ANY coverage whatsoever, even if it's something that may ruin someone's day. Gotta fill in tho$e time gap$.

moopism 7 months ago
@bigredphenom The Earth is NOT overpopulated by humans. The only partial scientific evidence and survey of Earthly resources, combined with a liberal use of modern technologies, shows conclusively that the human population could double (14 billion) and still have a sustainable society and infrastructure.
So before running your mouth about how dumb christians believe dumb things, perhaps don't believe in dumb things yourself and do a little research.

@bigredphenom These things usually fluctuate every hundred years and sometimes more violently, and we are more tightly populated and we have a global media(more or less). The best way to go about this is better education for as many as possible, if not, ignorance will be the end of us all.
Oh and retire religion...
Ludd3332 5 months ago
@bigredphenom You should read your bible to know the difference of the End of Times. In Revelation chapter there are specific events to look for: 1) A ruler called the anti-christ will step into a temple of God in Jerusalem and call himself God. 2) God's two witnesses will bring havoc (tribulation) upon this world for 3.5 years those worships him. 3) Satan himself will come and kill the two witnesses in Jerusalem. 4) They will lay on streets (dead) for 3 days; then God brings them back to life.
yhenry77 2 months ago
To say none of this can ever be tested is a tiny bit ignorant. It's possible it can be in the future. But theories are what scientists use to piece together facts, so you can't really prove a theory with observations(???).

idgrave 11 months ago
@Mofleaker It's not the faith that makes it plausible, it's the when you willing to turn your back on everything else for the faith that makes it plausible. Granted, you you can have faith in Satan but that doesnt make it right either. My stand point is a stand point of God, which doesnt make sense to someone who doesnt believe in God. I'm not meaning to sound rude, or 'better than you' cause I'm not. I'm just spreading my ideas and views according to a book that I hold sacred and true.
idgrave 11 months ago
@idgrave Many people have been willing to die for gods much different than yours, gods which have been left behind and forgotten. The fact that people are willing to do a lot for their faith doesn't justify it. My standpoint is a standpoint of no god, which doesn't make sense to someone who does believe in god. Anyways, I think we're at an impasse and I don't want to drag this on too long. Thanks for the civil conversation, glad we could keep it in hand :)
Mofleaker 11 months ago
@Mofleaker
A theory never becomes fact. Theories explain observations, just like the Theory of Evolution explains how evolution occured. Natural selection and random mutation are the theory, evolution itself is the fact. Just like the Theory of Relativity describes how gravity works. Relativity is the theory, gravity is the fact.
drche420 9 months ago
@idgrave The Universe is expanding, that is fact. The Universe contracting IS simply a hypothesis, I make no argument with that. I don't see how having faith makes your idea any better, either. I could have faith in anything, does that make it more plausible?
Mofleaker 11 months ago
@Mofleaker Actually if you're interested, go check out Lawernce Krauss' lecutre "A universe from nothing". He proposes the "flat universe" which is different that the closed or open universe hypothesies. It's worth your while.

Its about eternal torture or bliss
iliveon 11 months ago
@idgrave Now answer me: Why aren't you Muslim or Hindu, Jew or Mormon, Taoist or Buddhist, any of the indigenous African tribal religions. Why aren't you believing in Apollo and Zeus and the many others during ancient Greece? Surely all of these people aren't damned to hell too? Why aren't you? Just answer me that. What makes them so wrong and you so right?
iliveon 11 months ago
@iliveon You not looking for an answer to the question, you looking to find me a bigot.. This, once again, is you trying to twist whatever my answer will be, but whatever. I'm not a Muslim, or any of those because none of those religions provide away to the Father. There was ONE man, in the history of all these religion, that said, "I am the way, and the truth, none see the Father but through me." Thats a pretty bold statement, so either he's LORD and Savior or Liar.. I choose Savior.
idgrave 11 months ago
@iliveon As far as 'Surely all these people aren't damn' I really dont know. I dont know how God judges those who have never heard the Word of God, but I can only speculate that when you die, if you have not proclaimed Jesus as LORD and Savior, then yes they are going to Hell.. That's my answers.

@iliveon What purpose would that serve at all? To try and convince me that Jesus was the same as Jim Jones or any of those cats? There's a major flaw with your 'self proclaimed' theory but since you don't believe in God it wont make much sense to you I suppose. All it comes down to is you're wasting your time and so am I talking to you.
idgrave 11 months ago
@idgrave No, look up self proclaimed jesus on youtube, its not jim jones. Jim jones is another person who was deluded by religion. I dont have a self proclaimed theory, i do not put a god on the reason for the universe, I see it as natural. I dont see many gods, i don't see one god or another etc. I see nature and beauty. If I deserve hell according to your religion then man I will work to get rid of such terror and fear of the irrational hell and heaven. Yes its not a waste its good to learn
iliveon 11 months ago
@iliveon I looked up the video, and I must say, what a fucked up dude for twisting truth for his own worldly benefit.. And this can be applied to all religions, one dumb ass fucking it up for everyone else. People always want to show to the world the evil people bring in the name of 'religion', which is a good thing because con artists need to be exposed; but no one ever wants to hear about the true good other bring in name of the true Son of God.
idgrave 11 months ago
@iliveon And as far as "I see the universe as natural and beautiful" that's fine and straight, that's is not what is going to send you to hell, your ignorance in God and His Son will. That's pretty much my entire argument when I first posted my first response to this video. But I'm not here to convince you that I'm right and you're wrong, that's a waste of time. But I'm feeling edgy today so I'll just ask it, "if God doesnt exist, then scientifically, how did we get here?"I need some hard proof
idgrave 11 months ago
@idgrave The Universe has always existed in some shape or form. As you may know, after the Universe is finished expanding, it will retract to it's original form before the big bang. After this, it will expand again just as it did those billions of years ago. How does it get the energy to do all of this? The only infinite force there is, gravity acting upon itself. Now you may say, "You have no proof!" and I agree, but neither do you. Basically your answer is as good as mine.
Mofleaker 11 months ago
@Mofleaker Well Mofleak let me just go one and tell you that everything you just said, while correct, is all theory and has never been proven cause it can never be tested.. Which raises question, "Why is it called theory if it can be scientifically tested?" as for gravity, according to certain quantum physicist, goes beyond this dimension and originates in the10th or 11th dimension, so i dunno about the expanding and contraction of the universe.. I never claimed to have proof, I have faith.
idgrave 11 months ago
@Mofleaker So doesn't that technically make my answer better than yours?
idgrave 11 months ago
@idgrave Show me a God and I will believe in a God. Faith is not a virtue, it is gullibility. If you run your life by faith, you have no means of distinguishing what is real from what is myth. You are using an argument from ignorance claiming that since you don't know how, then God of the gaps must have done it when you don't even know HOW MANY gods there truely are. Scientifically, we have not reached a conclusion and to say that we will never just slaps closed mindedness on learning.
iliveon 11 months ago
@idgrave How did bacteria and disease get here? So far we have good reasons to believe that they came about naturally and they try to live just like we do. If you are wondering what/who/it caused the universe, why don't you use that same logic with the gods of the gaps? What would need to cause the gods? See even you will break your own argument with that one. The fact is the universe is real, matter and energy are conserved and do not disappear. It is natural, a god is not needed to explain it.
iliveon 11 months ago
@idgrave "if God doesnt exist, then scientifically, how did we get here?"I need some hard proof "
I think the proper response to this is that you don't have a remotely consistent standard for what you require of evidence for claims about reality. The most absurd claims, like gods existing, are embraced without a shred of evidence, even though you can't distinguish thousands of god hypotheses from each other. The simple fact that nature exists however, needs elaborate explanation.
Gnomefro 10 months ago
@idgrave To even begin to have a discussion about the nature of reality, one would have to start out with the fact that nature exists, figure out how much of our subjective observations of nature that we can agree on, and only then try to figure out who's right about the places one disagrees. You simply can't regard "God did it" as your null hypothesis if you want to be taken seriously.
Gnomefro 10 months ago
@idgrave The proper approach is to take the observation of nature and realize that we don't actually know that nature can have a cause. Nor do we have the property of independent observers of the universe. We will necessarily observe a universe that can support us. No amount of claimed "design" can therefore distinguish between naturalism and supernaturalism when the same "design" is necessary for our own existence.
Gnomefro 10 months ago
@idgrave Now, does this mean that naturalism and supernaturalism are equally good explanations? Absolutely not. The principle of parsimony, Occam's razor, is a necessary aspect of producing useful models of reality. It is the reason we don't have a theory of gravity that includes transcendental elves pushing matter together and the like. Simpler explanations are simply more likely to be true. Naturalism has one less element than supernaturalism and is therefore superior.
Gnomefro 10 months ago
@idgrave You may of course argue that we don't know everything etc and dance the creationist dance, jumping from obscure scientific area to the next asking "Why?" until one gets "I don't know" as an answer. However, that is the embodiment of switching the burden of proof. That we don't know is not an argument against naturalism or for supernaturalism. Actual evidence against naturalism might make supernaturalism plausible though. Such as the laws of nature being suspended due to ritual magic.
Gnomefro 10 months ago
@GoodAvatar on again, like an atheist would do, you taking what I've said out off context and turned it for your on monitary game to try and cut me down to size. I don't try and cut YOU down to size, what a TERRIBLE thing
idgrave 11 months ago
@roont I'm sorry, and you're right. Saying things like the 'destruction of the wicked' is exactly the kind of thing that turns people away. And no, you dont deserve to burn and be tortured because you don't believe what I do, and not because you're a bad person, but there is consequence for not acknowledging Jesus as LORD and Savior.. If you're right, then when I die all I did was waste time and was oblivious while alive; but if I'm right, when you die, you have a long time to think about it..
idgrave 11 months ago

@OrthodoxDarwinist I think your outlandish claim that people like me belong in a psych ward is a tad harsh, considering the reality of the state the world at this moment. Do you not see whats going on in the middle east?
Jesus is at the door . Wake up from your sleep , time is short!
mutabrev 11 months ago
@mutabrev
Yes and it is religion and Zionism that is causing all the problems.
You theists are moral degenerates and cannot tell reality from fantasy. Religion is a form of psychosis and a regressive state of being.
Anyone who follows an Abrahamic religion should be in a psychiatric ward.
OrthodoxDarwinist 11 months ago
@OrthodoxDarwinist So which is it? Religion,Zionism, or the Abrahamic faiths. How can "we" be moral degenerates when atheists like yourself don't put any stock in morality? Isn't one of your ilks mantras " what is truth" and there are no moral absolutes? You aren't a very good advocate for the humanist agenda are you with your grand declarations ,holier than thou superiority and overt judgemental-ism. Calm down Stalin JR.
mutabrev 11 months ago
@mutabrev
OrthodoxDarwinist 11 months ago
@OrthodoxDarwinist Humanism is defined by moral relativism. There has never been a study of human behaviour that has ever been "proven" or " conclusive". Societies are far too complex and behaviour too self conscious to ever come up with a viable conclusion. You sound like you should have had enough education to have understood that. If your talking about surveys, then please, an individual is the last person to judge themselves rationally and honestly. Teenagers don't know what they believe.
mutabrev 11 months ago
@mutabrev
I'm not a teenager you idiot.

VENOM3RDUM 1 year ago
Actually, the Christians you're talking about (aka Me) aren't looking forwards to self destruction, only the destruction of the wicked, but I can't speak for all of us.. I dont see why Atheist seem to demonize Christianity so much, yet have nothing to say about any other religious beliefs. Maybe they feel threatened? And with good cause. You may not believe in a God or Jesus Christ as the one and only Savior, but that doesnt make you right. Remember that before you die.
idgrave 1 year ago
@idgrave I think most atheists agree that Islam is just as fucked up as Christianity (maybe more), and every religion that makes supernatural claims they are all equally unsupported by evidence. But Christianity is the most pervasive religion in America. The government here is like 99% Christian -- how the shit can you act persecuted?
VesusSheist 1 year ago
@idgrave "only the destruction of the wicked"
I'm afraid that is exactly why we are so outspoken against religion. You think that we deserve to be burned and tortured for all eternity after we die simply because we don't believe the same thing you do. I will speak out just as much against Islam, or Scientology, or Mormonism. I dislike them all the same as Christianity.

retroactive continuity "retcon" for short is often used in fictional stories especially comic books and star trek. Well I have a BIG problem with it being used in RELIGION because you then have to admit that people of the past had the wrong information and thus were following the wrong religious rules, in other words retroactive continuity in religion usually means that ALL or almost all of the previous practicioners of the faith ended up in hell!

You will be ever hearing, but never understanding.
thetimothyjr2155 1 year ago
@thetimothyjr2155 And the principle of religious subjectivism continues to frustrate sensible people worldwide. If all "true" Christians read the bible and interpreted it through "the holy spirit" then they'd all make the same conclusions. Guess what? There are thousands of theologians out there at each others throats, all with different interpretations, all claiming to be guided by that same "holy spirit". Question is, what makes YOU right and everyone else wrong?
