@FogBuffy I'm not sure if he's bigger now...he just cuts his hair a lot shorter. Pretty sad...a guy like him would never make it today. Definitely one of the top 10 voices in country music.
Love love love Raul Malo's voice, and I've always thought he was cute (yeah, I know, he's a guy, but he is CUTE), but he has the most gorgeous eyes too, never noticed until this video. They were a grrrrrrreat band. Thanks for posting. :)
Awesome!! Raul has one amazing voice!!! Where are the Mavericks now that we need something original? Country radio is filled with all the sam sound alikes.
This was the first time I ever saw The Mavericks on tv. I have been hooked ever since. Raul has the best voice and I love the whole band and Jerry Dale McFadden is so funny.
i hear you folks i am a brit, not to sure about your grand olde oprea etc sorry if i spelt it wrong the piont i wanna make if loads of you are like me listen to the guys/girls but have never moved off your ass to learn a intrustment or een other bother with singing lessons well i cant complain i am a knee tapper love it but i do mean this you can train someome to play then they excell but a voice is given ,malo ,elvis ,jones +may i add for me neil diamond good voices
Dave sure knows great music when he hears it. Wow - Raul and the guys are wonderful. This song is really a classic now and I never get tired of hearing it. I have been wondering who wrote "There Goes My Heart". I do wish the band was still together just as they were in the beginning. All are such super musicians. Thanks for posting. - Paula
Hi Paula, I like The Mavericks as well. I think they are brillent. I have 3 of their songs on my iPOD. I'm gonna get more later. I especally love this song. I agree Dave has good taste in music. Dave is my dad's age and he listens to Green Day and Foo Fighters. I guess Dave is young at heart. What's your favorite Mavericks song?
My favorite song of The Mavericks is "There Goes My Heart". It's the first song I ever heard by them and when they put the video out on it at the time I should have taped it. I haven't seen it since. In the video all the guys had a fun "part" in it - lots of cutting up. I also like "Oh What A Thrill". Raul and all the musicians are super talented. Their style is really entertaining and most everything they do is good to dance to. - Paula
Thank you. If anyone has ever sung Karaoke they like a lot of the fun lively songs I feel. The Mavericks songs are some of the most popular with the Karaoke crowd at the American Legion Post where I am in the Auxilary. We dance a lot there and when there's no other entertainment going on we play their songs on the juke box. So often when musicians have good things going they break up and deprive us, their fans, of their talent and the joy of looking forward to their next hit. Sad. - Paula
Yeah I agree, it's hard to go solo when you were in a group like The Mavericks. They were so good together and then Raul decided to go solo and to me, it's just not the same. I love Jukeboxes!!! I wanna buy one someday when I become rich and buy my dream house. What do you like to hear on the Jukebox when you don't listen to The Mavericks. Hey save me a dance Paula.
Good luck on your future juke box. The older styles are the greatest to look at. Just like with The Mavericks I think many of us love the music of The Gatlins. Larry has a phenomenal voice (I love "I Don't Want to Cry). Always wonderful are Wynette and Jones and Merle and Ray Price sound even better on a juke box. Real country music is so special - the lyrics are easy to understand and most have great accompanying musicians. For anyone who doesn't dance, pleasure is in the sound. - Paula
Thanks Paula. I always liked Merle Haggard and George Jones as well. I grew up on country music and these two sound the most real when they sing. Actually Letterman once called Jones the best country singer ever. Which that's a pretty fair statement yes? I think he is. Right under him would be Alan Jackson and George Strait. I mean they did learn from Jones. I agree, pleasure is in the sound when you have 2 left feet.
OK - I always save the last dance for "the one who brung me". LOL Juke boxes are expensive for sure and some of the modern ones that are computerized and hang on the wall or are on a stand l have no character at all. The old beautiful ones are such a nice accessory in any place they are located. - Paula
I see Jukeboxes on Price Is Right and yes it's pretty bizarre they are so expensive. I wish they would computerize and design them like the old school ones this way we all win.
the there goes my heart music video was on here for a while but was removed, i spent a lot of time from 1994 until last year when i found it, but it was only on here for a few weeks.
I do dance classes and Raul Malo is played for EVERYTHING! pity the Mavericks broke up,they were red hot. " My faves are Something tells me" for a rumba, This for a quickstep, anyone one of his beautiful Spanish/English mixes like "Crying for You/Palabras for waltz - surprisingly " El Paso" is superb for the Vienna Waltz!
The Mavericks made listening to country music in the 90s "cool". Raul Malo, what a voice! You can't help but notice Robert Reynolds' mannerism are similar to Will Lee's bass playing (or vice versa). Great band!
I love watching Robert Reynolds play the bass - you can tell he really is "one with his music".
Do you know if he is working with another band now? What band is Will Lee working with? All the guys here in "The Mavericks" sure impressed the audience of "The Tonight Show" with their true talent and personalities. The organist for Dave is super too here. Many entertainers I've seen on there make me wonder how they ever got to be noticed. Thanks Brokentrail for posting. - Paula
Saw Raul in London last week the voice is still as great as ever
