  • It's amazing what a little 'ol AMC could beat with just a few simple tweaks. I'll always remember guys bragging about their extra add-ons and they still couldn't tangle with an AMX.

  • " 'Cuz, I beat him with my AMC!" Words to live by...

  • really a nice looking car. Are you in Arizona? I get out there from time to time and would like to see it run. You have done a great job with it.

  • I don't know how anyone has room to talk shit about Tim. Man dudes would come from 100s of miles away to Winchester VA to race him in his white javelin only to get beat buy bus lenghts ! duooe how many of youre cars did johnny lightning make ? They made the car I speak of into a match box size repop............

  • Hurray for the underdog!

  • Why don't you give list of the ideas he has "stolen"?

He did not buy the car done, and built his own engine. Now why don't you tell us what YOU have done and how fast your car is? Or are you just another internet hero who hides behind a screen name.

Man up...My name is Tom Fiddler, I believe Tim's name is here. Who are you?

  • My Dad worked for AMC in the late 60's he said the AMX with the 390, was blowing every other car away in the 1/4 mile. AWESOME cars....somewhere I have an original AMX racing team jacket he gave me

  • It funny no one knows how good the 1969 AMX "super stock" where

These cars were running 11:20s to 10:70s at 125-30 mph right out of the Hurst shops and were a serious threat on the drag strip. They were a real surprise to the competition during the 1969 racing season wining lots races! In 1970, the SS/AMX won it class at the Winternationals, setting both e.t. and mph records during the season.

still thinking of my next car :)

  • Sounds like you have a nice collection of AMC's. It's a lot for me to keep up with the few that I have...I don't see how you do it. LOL

I own the 69 AMX in the video along with a 74 AMX that was my high school car. My one project car should be completed this coming year and it's a 65 Impala convertable that was my dad's. You sure know your AMC's so keep up the good work and keep'em going!!!

  • Good to see a devout muscle car enthusiast that knows how to put his time into his car. Unlike most of the 'new-muscle' kids running around in Mustangs with body kits and exhaust thinking their car is unstoppable.

  • Keep the dreams alive! Wonderful cars and the people who keepem going. Thanks for the VId!

I had a 71 that was stolen and I miss it more than than my mother.

  • I have a '70 AMX and have owned a '69 AMX and a '69 Javelin SST. It's always great when people ask what's an AMX??. Nice to be different in the world...nice ride there too buddy..keep beating those Chevys and Fords.

  • They picked a high 10 sec. group for the 16 car shootout. We ran low 9's at the event so we didn't get picked.

The engine is a stroked AMC 401 with aluminum heads and some laughing gas. Best ET 8.81 @ 156. We always run street tires & exhaust.

The car is street legal with tags and insurance.

  • amxtra1

    check your youtube mail

  • Did e win?

  • Great

Got the specs on that AMX?

  • Cool Vid!

  • YESSS. very cool. I'm glad AMC is getting the respect it long deserves. Tim, you make a good point about restoration/working on an AMC. I have a 73 GremlinX factory 304. It's not easy. I wrote sort of a poem a while back:

For an easy restoration, go for the big 3.

But if you want a real challenge, restore an AMC!

That about sums it up. Keep up the good work.
