  • Vai playing one of Adrian "Godsmith" Smith solos...i can die happy now!

  • Brilliant, I wish they'd done a Vai song. Or that Vai had just played on more.

    Was a great show though.

  • aha this is a surprise! great:)

  • STEVE VAI ROOOOOCKS!!!!

  • I WAS THERE!!!!!!!

  • I wish i was there but i couldnt really travel from newcastle to london...

  • its weird that everybody was just standing there... I was jumping with my mates on the front row at the left

  • ... yehhhhh

  • Who was that? Does anyone know? They had a guy with blond spiky hair in the 2007 show (it's on several videos here), but I presume you can't be referring to him, as that was Pete Eldridge.

  • Vai was brill. (I was there on the Saturday). I was a little unclear, at times, where people have commented on Pete's singing whether they are commenting on the clip or the live show. He sounded fine from where I was standing on the Saturday.

  • you should shred more vai ;) you're good at it. anyone ever told you?

  • vai playing maiden eh? whoda thunk it

  • Great!!

  • its funny that it has a peavey backdrop. but no-ones using a peavey amp.lol

  • Fuuuuck!!! That was really nice.... and I guess... Steve's solo was sounding a little bit like Dave.... does anyone agree with me!?!? I dunno, maybe it was just me.... but I really had this impression... anyway....

    nice video.... loved it.... 5/5

  • Phil Hilborne is an outstanding guitarist and instructor here in the UK and the Guitar Techniques magazine would of been jizz without him in the beginning cause he did everything, I especially loved his killer lick part in the mag. I would love a lesson off this lad and I've been playing 20+years, can do all the Satch/Vai/Malmsteen stuff but Maiden are by far the best band in the world

  • The Best guitar player with the best drummer of the best band ever!!!

  • I liked the solos version =D

  • Whooooo i was there steve vai is amazing happy birthday nicko! ps andy todds gay lol

  • thnx son!!!!!

  • The singer sounds japanese. I was there

  • respect to the singer! not the easiest vocals to "imitate"! Great performance!! But of course, Steve, you "Vai-onize" the solo ;-)

  • In his defence - this show was on Sunday afternoon - the singer Peter Eldridge did not know he was going to be doing the song at all until late Thursday night!........He had already sang stuff like Neon Knights and Stormbringer that day as well - not easy at all!

  • Hey Phil, got to say thnx,i was there on the Sunday,(Happy birthday Nicko )I was the good looking guy stood at the back near the mixing desk, lol, Took my 15 yr old son , made his year me thinks.Seeing Mr Vai was a pleasure(i play the drums but know what a genius he is.Anyways thnx to you n all who played . Loved it. ps if steve ever needs me to play on his nxt album i,m ready, as long as it includes the attitude song .

  • 4 days to listen and then sing 'the trooper'? haha too much, dont you think?

C'mon pal, If the man is a vocalist, no matter of singing neon knights, stormbringer and then the trooper. I'm singing a full set of 24 tunes higher than that.

  • Good for you then..... Put a link up so we can see?

  • Can post some in a few weeks but actually I got nothing to prove. Just thought your defence (in a good way) to the singer was not 'convincing'

What's up, the man is a vocalist! Can't handle three high songs in sequency? Maybe his performance would be better if he'd sang it his own way, just like the other members of the jam..

  • Actually, that version of the Trooper was the 10th song in the set - not that, that is the point really.

My 'defence' was honest.....He is a great singer - it is just that I know for a fact that you are commenting on a version of a song that was only the 3rd time he had sang it.....He was even reading the lyrics off the floor for godsake...... Why is it going to take a few weeks for us to hear you? - surely you have toured and done albums etc - you talk like you have - that's for sure...

  • Nope, I'm no rockstar phil.I'm just that kind of musician that keep working hard every day and surely would sing my a** off if I had an opportunity like that to jam with such legends (and wouldnt take more than 2 days to learn the songs and the lyrics). Sure your defence was honest, the singer has a nice tone, but hard working musicians on the run can't take it as 'a fault'.

  • i so wanted to trek down to london for this, but sorry phil...download/donnington got in the way...... do you forgive me? how did vai get on playing maiden? wonder if he's a fan - always heard dave murray thinks the world of his guitar playing.

  • the singer killed the vocals

  • ah come on...you're stepping into bruce's shoes. thats a tough game for anyone. ask blaze ;) he did ok i think.

  • I know. But not everyone is able to pull it off. I have heard maiden covers where the singer does it just fine.

  • Great effort by the band but the singer is hideous.

  • Steve Harris?

  • Steve Vai

  • I Tought the bassist was Steve Harris, he looks like him.

  • The bassist is Andy Frost.

  • Yaaaaaaa! Git It Steve!

  • Was great! shame this song was a little high for the singer, because he was really good on all the others!

  • That was awsome watching those guys play some great songs and i would love to go and see them again. well worth watching, and you got to love nicko's comments between the songs. love it!!
