Having been in Law Enforcement many years it's amazing how much powder comes out the muzzle prior to the round itself. If they would have showed a video such as this at the police academy it would have helped some officers understand the science behind stipling(powder burns) in relation to how close the muzzle was in some cases such as point blank, 1 foot ,and so on. Many a "suicides" turned out to not be suicides when the reporting party had their hands subjected to a Gunpowder residue swipe.
@SilenceSlayer224 It isn't common sense, it is physics. The barrel and the slide remain locked firmly together during the firing phase. The bullet being fired, the gas pressure generated, and the bullet traveling down the barrel actually wants to pull the barrel foward. In a 1911, that force moves the barrel up and into the locking lugs. It isn't until after the bullet leaves the barrel that the barrel unlocks and the slide begins to move rearward. (Paraphrased from the Kuhnhausen manual)
@m199611 You're wrong. The slide begins to move backwards as soon as the bullet starts moving. It's not obvious in this video but look at others and it is really obvious.
fuckin useless spic let me guess the only firearm you could afford is a 12 gauge shotgun how did u afford it by stealing your moms hooker money or your dads tomatoe picking earning useless fuck ha
@tehgreatmutato Well both slide and barrel will move a tiny bit due to Newtons Third ;) but the major movements take place relatively slowly so the bullet is long gone by the time they unlock.
@tehgreatmutato It's the pressure of the explosion that forces the slide back. If the bullet left the barrel first the pressure would dissipate from the end of the barrel and there wouldn't be enough force to cycle the slide. You don't need a video to prove that.. it's common sense.

@tehgreatmutato the bullet leaves the barrel before you hear the shot.

@tehgreatmutato The slide and barrel are recoiling, the bullet leaves before the link pulls the barrel out of lock with the slide.
