  • Way to go Tim, a much deserved cover simply showing that music is music not christian or secular or bound by any other stereotype.

  • as a Petra fan its good to see Bob Heartmans music getting sung by other people in other areas of music. This proves that Not only Petra the group but Bob Heartman as a Christian and song writer are solid and God will bless their work. Good Job Tim McGraw on a beutiful song. Well done, loved it.

  • This wasn't for the Katrina benefit, it was for the Concert for NY after 9/11.

  • Bob Hartman wrote the words and music. NOT Greg X Volz.

The song is based on Based on Isaiah 40:31

  • Tim is an awesome man! Love this!

  • Didn't know Tim was a Petra fan!! Woo hoo!

  • This song made me a Tim McGraw fan! I was in tears when I heard it. Thank you Tim for doing a good job with this song. I am a long time Petra fan, and you knocked it out of the park.

  • This is the first time I've heard Tim cover this song. I'm officially amazed. It's not everyday that someone covers a Petra song. Thanks!!

  • Tim and Faith love Jesus. So does Donna Summer! God bless you all!

  • Thanks for posting this song... hearing Tim as this benegit is the first time I heard it and have looked for it for a long time and could not find a post. It moved me to tears during the whole Katrina disaster and I wanted to learn it really bad and then learned it was actually a Petra song... so now I am a Petra fan too. See our version of More Power to Ya in vid response.

    God bless.

  • A secular country artist performing a Petra song - now that's great. And it wasn't Lucas McGraw (from Petra's 1st album).

  • @drmjr

This song was written by Greg Volz. Who was the original lead singer of Petra and one of the original group that formed the bad.

it is a very anointed song and for Mr Mc Graw to choose to sing this was in Gods hands.

  • @Bjluvs Actually, Greg Volz first sang lead on 2 songs on Petra's 2nd album in 1977 as a guest, then became a member in 1979. It was lead guitarist and founder Bob Hartman who wrote this song, but Greg Volz sang lead on it.

  • @drmjr

Thanks for clearing that up.. I didnt realize the mistake I had made.

    Blessing!!

    B

  • @Bjluvs it was not written by greg it was written by bob i have the liner notes from the actually signed record

  • Wow... this is super awesome. I didn't realize Tim had such good taste in music. I'm a new fan of his now.

  • God bless him...

  • I was a year out of high school when this Petra song came. I missed hearing it.

  • I miss when I was a young christian in a Pentecostal church youth group who had Petra come to our church, when I could believe in a loving god. I miss when I was too innocent to know that my race was in danger and that I was hated by so many others. If I could wake up in 82/83, be 14/15 again, like the last 25 years was a bad dream and I still had a loving church family to belong to. I'd be one happy little Aryan. But now I know my Country and my Race is under attack and the past is gone. 14/88

  • @ThorOdinson14 Listen, mate. Why are you posting this on every video? You're insane.

  • @ThorOdinson14 Great another man brings the truth out!!

  • Kudos to Tim for singing this song...I am a hughe Petra Fan and am glad he covered this song...The word of God will sing out or the rocks will cry out his praise...

  • I really like Tim McGraw and grew up listening to Petra. TIm does a great job on this song. Does anyone know if he has a CD with this song on it?

  • I am a huge Tim fan and I am not surprised at how good he is with this song. he always does his best when doing a cover. and he is a Baptist Christian. he does a great job with this song.this is the first time I heard this. I have never heard of this song or Petra

  • Tim mcgraw is a great artist and he did awesome with this Petra song.

  • who knew Tim knew of Patra & this song

  • I hope this song can get put on youtube under the Name Tim McGraw instead of "TIN". This missplelling is leaving people out. I have been looking for this and so happy to find it. Never saw another major artist (Secular)Perform a Petra song. Tim could have chosen any song to open the Katrina disaster Benifit concertt with and he chose this petra song. How appropriate to encourage others in there tradegy.

  • Ups! change made! Blessings! UPF

  • Wow UPF, thank you so much! Im sure Tim McGraw fans will be able to hear a new song and be blessed. I think that the Katrina relief concert was put on by The Red Cross and aired on national TV. It would be great to be able to see video footage of him. Does anyone know a way to get the video of this song that opened the Katrina relief Concert? If so, lets see it :)

  • I grew up with Petra also and LOVED them! I like their version better, not a huge Tim fan, but it is awesome he did a christian song at a concert.....now if he were to change to ALL christain music, might listen to him then....?????

  • Tim has a Christian song on his new album "southern voice" you might want to listen to. it is called "I'm only Jesus". He just felt it was time to do this. he and his wife were both raised in church.

  • I've never been a huge fan of Tim McGraw and grew up with Petra, but now I have more of a appreciation for him. Awesome to hear him do a christian song of one of the oldest and best christian bands of all-time. Thanks to Tim McGraw and his band.

  • just thought I would mention that he and his wife are southern baptist christians and try to live by His word everyday. they are both very devoted to their Christian beliefs and are raising there three girls to be that way. on many of Tim' salbums he has favored some Christian type music. he has one song called "drugs or Jesus" very good song.

  • WOW! I didn't know Tim did a version of this song. AWESOME job Tim!

  • Those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. I love this song. God bless you. 5*

  • I could take or leave Tim McGraw's music, personally. But this cover just really touched me. Well done, Tim, and thanks for paying homage to Petra like this.

  • I love the part where it says "So be strong in the Lord in the power of His might. Put upon His armor and fight the good fight. In all of our weakness, He becomes so strong. He gives us the power and the strength to carry on." That part is so true...we need to stand up for Him and what we believe in. Even though I have never heard of Petra, Tim did such a good job on this! (:

  • This is the kind. Praise the Lord. very nice.

  • Wow... humbled to know that Tim recorded this!

  • Glad to hear someone singing this song. No one is as good as Greg X. Voltz

  • Thanks for posting this... I heard Tim play this for the live Hurricane Katrina benefit show and thought it was his... I searched far and wide for the lyrics and finally found out it is a Petra original. A real tricky song to play on guitar so I came up with my own version that I am able to sing and play with.... feel free to check it and let me know your thoughts.

    God bless.

    Thanks.

    David

  • Wow I have new respect for Tim. This is one of the world's best songs... even if this is not the world's best version. ; )

  • I agree with you. A great Petra's song, but not the best version :)

  • WONG peter puffer. The best was the original

  • So your not proud to be an amarican? Commy.

  • Different kind of pride. God doesn't hate flags, He hates sin. Flags aren't sin! Need to work on your theology!

  • It was so cool to see Tim pick a Petra Song to open the Katrina benifit concert. This will probably be as close as the one he sang that night and im greatfull to hear it again.

  • TIM DOSES A GOOD JOB! I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH GREG X.HES GOT A NEW RECORD COMING OUT SOOn..WE JUST DID A CONCERT TOGETHER IN JUNE..AND NO ONE CAN SING IT LIKE HIM! BUT HE THOUGHT IT WAS COOL WHEN I TOLD HIM TIM WAS SINGING HIS SONG

  • God rocks!!!!!!

  • Tim performs this song much better here than when I heard him sing it on TV, during which his voice cracked at the more difficult parts of the song. Pretty difficult for his range. You almost need a voice like Greg Volz' to sing it, but Tim does a passable job here.

  • Great song!

  • This is an awesome song, thank you for sharing

    God bless

  • excellent!!!!!

  • GREAT SONG!

  • Thank you for posting this song. I love the truths Tim sings in this song. God bless.
