Actually, you are right when saying I mis-shift, but not that way. I should actually have shifted at 9500rpm in order to get faster to the top speed...

I'm was thinking about getting an RX8 this summer but the only thing holding me back is the lack of torque. They look sweet and handle great but seriously 62mph to 124mph (I converted) in 24 seconds is not to0 hot. I have a slightly modded v6 Firebird and it's a lot faster. I just want to know is the lack or power really worth it when a Grand Prix can spank your ass from a stop light? I guess I need to go test drive one.

Truth is, I didnt push it to its top, I should have shifted around 9500rpm if I wanted to get it as fast as it could, but I wasnt really trying hard. I could maybe have shaved 3-4 seconds off the time.

Now, it sure isnt the torquiest or more powerful car around, but it's so fun to drive you will forget about it pretty fast. Yes, people will smoke you at red lights, but noone will even get close in curves. I really suggest you watch the Top Gear video about the RX8, just search for RX8 Top Gear in youtube ;)

First the engine is a twin rotor, not a V6.

Second, that is completely missing the point of this car. It is not a drag car, it's a track car. It's all about handling the curves.

And finally, even if I wanted to, I do not own the car anymore... :)

Thanks for your comment. I do agree that it is one of the best handling cars I have ever driven, I just loved it and I actually miss it today and keep on re-watching old videos and pictures of it. I even put the engine sound from another of my track videos as a ringtone in my cellphone. :)

But I had to sell it for the simple reason that I moved to another country. And unfortunately, the market being what it is, no, I didn't get a good amount for it :(

Thanx! On most of my vids (on this video too) I hold the mobile and controling wheel with left hand and shift with right hand (of course:-)) I'm dangerrous :-) By making of my latest video (My RX-8 0-200km/h in 28 sec. and on 1km)I used a camera and I fixed it on the wheel, so it was a little bit easier. Sorry for my english. I waiting for your new vid(s)

I think i understand You now. Yes the RX-8 have low torque at low revs BUT only in high gears. You must choose gear, that your rpm never fall under 5000. I haven't got any proplem with it yet. Sorry, my english is not the best :-)

Nice vid... Now that I have a pod on the car, I can try and achieve better times. Problem is, I waisted precious seconds because I had to hold the camera at the same time, so shifting and keeping control of the wheel was a bit harder ;)
