  • i believe this was done in one shot, with two cameras...and was done illegally on the street...so that once it finished they basically threw all the equipment in the car and got the hell out of there :)

  • I like how Tom Savini usually plays a victim of his own makeup FX in horror movies. He was the zombie that got hit by the truck in the 1978 Dawn Of The Dead also. His FX were also great for Chainsaw Massacre 2, Friday The 13th, The Burning, and Creepshow 1&2.

  • That was pretty damn good. This goes to show how actual man-made special effects is better than cheap CGI.

  • WHAT? It was obvious! He's the red spy!

  • @Galvatron78 Preach on !!!

  • this is one of these best movies ever, also check out The Prowler and The Burning if you like this

  • Bullet making that size hole would have been a slug. Depending on the gauge of the weapon the hole at that close range would be no bigger than the size of the muzzle hole. Done this same shot with a 12G slug through a piece of plexi glass into a water melon with the same effect. The plexi glass partially mushrooms the slug acting like a freight train moving at 900 fps exploding the watermelon just like the head.

  • Tom Rocks!!

  • that was filmed with a live shotgun and a special FX head.

  • maniac is dominating mustache guy

  • See!? this is why

CGI sucks! If more people'd quit killin themselves for real ; they could do it for fun! ...and cash!!

  • BOOM! Headshot.

  • classic gore porn film and influenced many of today's shockers especially Rob Zombie's stuff since he is a fan of this classic movie and there's also Martyrs

  • was that sex machine? its not a sawed off...just because it has two barrels it doesnt mean its a sawed off

  • @lemonpop4u It's Tom Savini, yes.

  • Holy shit.

  • YES ITS TOM

  • @ 1:26...just walk it off, you'll be fine.

  • lol he got head

  • That mustache had it coming!

  • The girl is actually a decent actress considering it's low budget. I would have reacted the same way to a peeping tom.

  • fuck remakes.....fuck reboots.....fuck CGI. 70's-80's horror rule all.

  • Ahh the good old 1980's back when films looked and felt real! I mean obviously the idea is frightening enough the way it is but with the old school gritty film and low budget effects it's fucking terrifying!!!

  • @Beerlejuice Great perspective.

  • Coooooooool!

  • the head explosion was great, the only thing is that with that kind of firepower, don't you thing the bullet hole in the wind shield should be bigger?

  • @darthsadic I would have thought the windshield would shatter! But this Tom Savini guy was a SFX master apparently so he would know..

  • Saw this in Boston last night. Bill Lustig was chatting with some of us in the lobby beforehand. It was awesome to see this on a big screen. Bless your hearts, Grindhouse!

  • i own the dvd and its NOT RATED

  • more of the chick please!

  • holy fuck!

  • That is without a doubt one of the fucking coolest headshots I've ever seen. The good old days before CGI came around.

  • Pretty damn realistic...in classic Savini fashion fashion. Gore for the sake of gore.

Just to note though, that was not a sawed-off shotgun.

  • i pissed myself laughing at his facial expression

  • best death scene EVER...he didn't hesitate at all LOL

  • BOOOMM!!!! HEADSHOT!!!

  • SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How do I shot head?

  • RIP Joe Spinell

Man, this scene was fuckin incredible for the time. Tom Savini is the master!!!

  • OH yeah! Go Tom Savini, master of Gore!

  • when i watched this as a kid, my head exploded... literally :p

  • Walk it off lol

  • Apparently this was where Gene walked out?

  • did he died?

  • lol

  • My all-time favorite death scene.

  • The version I have of the movie is unrated, and as far as I know, this movie was never even submitted to the MPAA. Purely for this scene, because that would have gotten an instant X-rating, especially back in 1980.

  • This movie was not rated.

  • @2Emos1Razor it's rated, or was rated, r. imdb it.

  • @thealmightybubble It's rated now, but it was 17+ when it was released theatrically.

  • @thealmightybubble imdb isn't always right.

  • HELL YES!!!!!

  • talk about losing one's head....heads up!

  • Boom headshot !!!

  • YES!!!

  • That was tough.

  • for jimbobbodmin stop talking like your opinion matters, cuz it dont! j/k your cool in myyy book. and for Hero2 right on buddy i promote drug use every chance i get!! hahahahah oh meee

  • damn...i guess he wasn't very HEADstrong....hmmm looks like he'll never be the HEAD of a major corporation.

that sorta thing can give u a HEADache

  • For Bongtoker420. Far too cheesy, your idea of being aHEAD of the game makes you a dickHEAD. Only kidding i did laugh at the puns. However Hero2many is obviously a TWAT for promoting drugs.......... good effects from a cheap horror flick mind you

  • fuckin owned

  • This is fine art.

  • "Okay. Just randomly get on the hood of the car and BOOM!" -director's orders

But that's probably as realistic as effects get, but not as cool as HEAD ASPLODE in Scanners, IMO.

  • That wasn't anything special.

  • lsd is for abject retards with no imagination of their own.

  • @zackhanscom

You dont know what you are saying. Have you even tried it? No? So dont make such opinions...

  • I dont get it lol

  • this shocked you? that's sad. check out men behind the sun.

  • I saw this while on LSD. Made for an awesome laugh while we rewound it about 15 times.

  • i met tom savini and he was an ass

  • Don't worry baby i'll protect you with my seventies hair and pimp moustache BANG

  • BOOM HEADSHOT!!!

  • tom savini is cool

  • BOOM! HEAD SHOT!

  • best horror movie kill... HEADSHOT!

  • Willi Cicci

  • It wasn't R-rated, it was unrated.

  • Dios mio! Hermoso!! Que belleza!!

  • I dont realy see why he did that

  • hahahah dame fcukK! but why not the girl?

  • it is a double-barreled shotgun, and from the amount of ruination caused to his cranium, I'd say he let him have it with both barrels.

  • its actually funny how the guy just runs up to the car then shoots it was like kabloom

  • At least he went out with a bang

  • Your head a splode!

  • Pwnd with a capital fuck

  • not a sawed off. thats at least a 22 inch barrel

  • Is that Tom Savini?

  • Yeap.

  • @DudeManGuy1019 yep... he did the FX for the film as well.

  • There was no way he would've survived that shot. The most his girl could do was run so she doesn't suffer the same fate.

  • She didn't have to worry about getting shot, that psycho only shoots dudes who have small amounts of explosive embedded in their skulls,

  • he was planning on getting head not losing it

  • That'll be a bitch to clean out of that nice leather.

  • lol

  • OWNED!

  • Isn't that Ron Jeremy? ha ha ah a

  • It's actually Tom Savini. He's done a massive amount of special effects, producing, etc for horror movies. You may remember him as "Sex Machine" in "From Dusk Till Dawn."

  • Jesus Tapdancing Christ that was awesome.

  • BOOM HEADSHOT!

  • dancin...dancin...BOOM HEADSHOT

  • Damn! that was pretty good for a movie thats over 20 yrs old!

  • This movie is probably the best 80s horror flick I've seen.

  • nice except the whole in the windshild but nice

  • BOOM headshot

  • imagine if that happened just by him sneezing?!? XD - btw, it wasnt a sawn-off

  • P3WND

  • hahaha lol... he got him!

  • that dude who took the head shot does effect for alot of movies

  • tom savani

  • KABLAM HAHAHA GREAT!

  • He probebly never woke up again...

  • woman cant act for a living

  • Why didnt the girl check to see if he was ok? She may have been able to save him if she applied some pressure on the wound. And she could have driven away to a safer place before Mr. Maniac got into position to shoot her, and then continue to administer first aid.

People survive gunshot wounds to the head all the time. He may have been saved if she acted fast. She could have covered the wound with some clothing. She didnt even ask him if he was alright? He was probably in a lot of pain.

  • LMAO at 1:08

  • thats the worst cockblock ever

  • Of course it's a fake head loki1066, its a film!

Thats how a head shot should be, non of that cgi crap we get nowadays.

  • Pause it the moment it hits 1:08 - it's such a fake head!

  • i guess this is how violent I'm getting. I actually shouted "boom, headshot!" when the dude bit the dust.

  • Poor Tom Savini! LOL

  • he could walk that off

  • Careful, you could put an eye out with that thing.

  • ohhhh shitt damn dat mothafukka got his shit blown right off

  • Tom Savini rocks!

  • @FatAbbott got rocked

  • SHIT!!!!!!!!

  • WTF !!!!! also what movie is this ?

  • Maniac(1980)

  • amazing!!!

  • Nobody can get their head blown up half as good as Tom Savini
