Okay, I just surgery today and bad news. It is still there because entering the ureter was too small to get the camera through. So I got stent put in to stretch it. A dual pain is a 3 scale from 1 to 5. After waking up, peeing and the pain was bad due to the stent. But most people are concerned about urinating after the surgery, yes, it will hurt but not a burning sensation but a powerful sting for males. I am going threw it and it is close to feeling a needle deeply scrathing your skin.
Good video chris oh man I just had the same surgery you did and you answerd my question...in a few days they are going to remove the stent. And I'm scared..is there any other way I can go around that like put to sleep for the removal of the stentM
I had the string type. It had two curled ends, one for kidney and other into the ureter and the doc gave me twilight sleep to remove it. I DID feel it coming out, it was EXTREMELY uncomfortable and I remember just wanting to fly up into the ceiling and out of the building. It was not enjoyable even though I don't remember any actual pain...just extreme pressure that felt like the doc had his hand all the way in me up into my uterus! Odd sensations when they have to work in that area of us
I had the same procedure. The pain upon waking was worse than the 9mm stone blocking my kidney. Thank goodness for percoset. I will have my stent out in a few days. They attached a string at the end for easy access.
i had my operation, and your operation was exactly the same as mine...
i'm getting mine taken out on the 20th july... im so scared, i'm female btw, 19 yrs old & my first stent with kidney stones in my kidney and the tube going to my bladder.
i was in soooo much pain from it as well. i was in over night being sick and in agonny. i was in recovery for 2hours. im nervous! ):
sorry you had pain from the stent. I don't recall having any pain from it but I do remember sitting down felt really weird cause you CAN FEEL THE STENT inside. I had one through December, even Christmas. Yeah I had it removed with "twilight sleep" and it was TERRIBLE! INSIST THAT THEY PUT YOU FULLY TO SLEEP, PLEASE!!!
@DelusionDispeller you didnt have the string type one? I have the string one in and have to remove it monday morning.... I hope it doesnt hurt that bad when i remove it.
I just had this procedure done Boston yesterday. It is a very effective with a 99% success rate in recent years, but it is unsettling to have it all done via your penis (if male)! You WILL have painful urination post-surg that can last 72 hours. You will also have a ureteral stent, but it is often not a major discomfort (but it often is in women). Important: Ask for good post-op medications like pyridium, detol, and a narcotic to relieve post-op symptoms/stent irritation. Btw, My stone was 2cm!
You're handsome and very well spoken. Not that I'm not assuming anything but just wondered about your sexual preference. You seem like a nice guy and someone I'd like to be friends with or more. You van reply to me privately. Hope ho jest from you either way. Thx. CK44052.
Nobody told me not to lift heavy items either but it makes sense. If you strain to hard down there I bet you could push it out. Don't think they'll put you out. I tired! It's not really too bad if you've got the string. Be prepared with pain meds AFTER it comes out. Things are a might tender and the first time I urinated I thought I was gonna DIE! It was as bad as passing a stone. Good news is it's only the first 24 hrs and you might be luckier then I. I hope
I had a kidney stone last year an ultrasound did not show it. It was 6mm. The cat scan did show it. I know I have it again and the ultrasound did not show it. You can also get a procedure done were they can shock wave the stone, this breaks the stone up without needing surgery. Also, coffee is a cause for kidney stones and I love my coffee. I feel your pain though :(
Hydrangea root and marshmellow root have been proven to relieve pain assoc. with stones within minutes and will dissolve most stones within a few days,,, for about $25,,, research it then u decide
Great video! I too had a blockage at the base of my kidney in my ureter...had the laser, basket capture and stent for 5 days unti I got a UTI.....you don't want one of those w/a stent...so the ER Dr. removed the stent and I felt alot better after antibiotics and lots of water and rest. I have 6 more to pass, which the urologist said are small enough, so I'm just waiting to be in excruciating pain again... Good luck to you all..
I have a stent in me, for 2 days now. Feels a bit heavy in the kidney, and when urinating a bit of pain in the kidney and bladder, kinda like too much pressure. The stent will be removed in about 10 days. What do you guys recommend to do the day before and on the day of the procedure, what to eat, what to drink? Maybe some particular herbs? I want the stent to just slide out fast a smooth. Any input appreciated. thanks
I just went through this and had the stent with the string for self removal. When I removed it, I sat on the edge of the tub (good thing). I pulled very slowly. It wasn't painful but the feeling is intense. I tried to relax and allowed urine to flow as I pulled. Having the stent in was painful for me off and on so I was glad to remove it. I have had the scope up the uretha and would rather pull the string than have that. You go through same sensations but privately with the string.
I've also had the procedure done for the second time last week, but it's different with me being a female. Both times I removed the stent myself, and it wasn't an easy task. I tried a couple of time to do it myself (with pain killers of course) and every time I tugged I felt very woozy... Then I remembered that water help with my contractions when I was pregnant, so I went into the tub and pulled it out. It worked well both times. You might want to try that.
Very well done on articulating your experience.. I currently have a stent inserted with a string hanging outside the penis. Suppose to be there until today (Sunday)Surgery was on tuesday. My instructions is to pull the string and stent will comed out, recommending that I take Pain pill an hour before. I tried tugging on it this morning and WOW, this is going to be a tough day!!! Felt the immediate urge to urinate and now I'm wondering how long is this stent. Post later on outcome... B
Great video. I fully understand the pain of having a stent. I'm 40 now but i've had 6 stone episodes since i was 19 years of age. Only on my last stone did i have a stent and i carried on working when actually i shoul'nt have. Very uncomfortable and painful passing urine. When i had it removed i was asleep though. Thank god!
dude iv had just about the same sceneiro as you but its my first stint and today is the day for it to come out yet the doctor says i can do it myself at home no tool simply string loop on my penis that i have to yank out please advice i havent taken pain meds for two day just so that they will complety kick my ass i hope
While I haven't had the experience of in-home treatments, I have heard of some stents being looped outside the hole of the penis (for easy removal).
If you are uncomfortable performing this task (and rightfully should be), I would ask the doctor to do it for you.
Again, I don't know this procedure, but if you have to stick anything inside your penis, it could cause infection or permanent damage to the nerves (making sexual interactions less fun!)
dude i woke up this morning and took a piss and i started pissin blood my dad said its probally a kidney stone it hurts like hell could you give me some info being some one who has dealt with it, would be much appreciated!
Urinating blood can be a scary thing. Sometimes the problem can go away on it's own, but if the urine becomes darker and darker, or you are suddenly in pain, it's time to go to the hospital.
my man. dont remind me of my stent 2yrs ago. hurt worse than the stone. the funny thing about the stent is that you cant laugh when you have it in you. laughing causes the most excruciating pain. imagine what that does to you psychologically. you cant even laugh about how ridiculous it is that theres a plastic snake inside you.
Thank goodness my wife who is a consultant is working. I will be making a video coment sometime soon but your suggestions are great and are helping me to know what I may expect. I will not have them take that stent out without being under!!! NO WAY. I hope you are well and I will be posting again.
Ok, I have watched your videos and can relate. Just yesterday I had a stent put in and I will be having lithotripsy on the 11th of March. I had blood in my urine on Feb 9th and then the pain and trip to the ER on Feb 11th. Since then that pain came and went on its own schedule but mostly 15 mins after eating anything. I am a freelance editor and have not been able to work much.
Hi, think you videos are great, i have had the same as you, lithotripsy, and i had a catheter, because of blocked kidney stone, waiting from the hospital to see what next step is.
I also have an idea that going on rollercoasters breakes up stones, as i had a large one and the next tome i had an x ray, it had gone, what are your views on this.
I think I have a stone. Woke up last wk and noticed pain in my left side. had a hard time in the shower washing my backside because my trunk hurt when i tried to twist it. That night i found that I just couldn't lay down without a lot of pain. Esp. on my back or my left side because I would spasm a lot. On my right side no spasms just continuous pain.
I found a home remedy that involves mixing 2 ozs fresh lemon juice with 2 oz extra virgin olive oil. sounds gross but wasn't too bad. I did it last night and then again today. I am feeling better.
I think my stone was stuck in my kidney because the pain never moved around my side and then down. My question to you is, is it possible that it just stays stuck in your kidney without moving down to the ureta? And have you ever heard of the lemon juice/olive oil thing? I have ins. but my dr. is on vacation and I couldn't get with another dr. til next wednesday. It hasn't got bad enough yet for a trip to the er but close. I did give a urine sample 2 days into it but it came up clean.

This was my 3rd trip down kidney stone lane. 1996 I passed it. 1998 ultrasound and the laser LAST week. They ALL suck!
Thought I was done with them when I passed that decade mark but Nooooo!

It seems highly unlikely that a stone of that size went undetected. However, if they made you drink a dye, it could have hidden the stone from sight.
A cystoscopy is essentially a manual search in your body, and again, it's not a perfected science. It is plausible, but again, unlikely.
The stone may have formed rapidly, but at that size it should have been seen. I recommend a new doctor...
