While Texas is a net contributor, and thus profitable for America as a whole, it is not bigger than New York or California at least as of 2005. I haven't seen a more recent update on the stats though.

Well I had 14 GLORIOUS years in Texas. I had the opportunity to live in Victoria, that South East Region is a whole new culture, then it was off to San Antonio, South Texas a whole new experience, I really LOVE San Antonio, then Plano, that was like living in a Chicago suburb not to much Texas there, then in Grand Prairie, what a great town/city, people there treated me like I was one of them.
