I love torrents. I always torrent every TV show, movie and album that I want. Have not paid for any media in over 5 years since I can get it all for free! All my Playstation 2 games were downloaded from torrent sites aswell and ran on a modded system. Saved me a bundle over the years.
I only found out last week that Are You Afraid of the Dark is avaliable on DVD - one of many examples of shitty marketing.
Simiarlaly, it irritates me is when they change the packaging i.e. With Buffy & Angel, they were originally released in box sets, but now they're only released in a single DVD with three discs.. I guess because it's cheaper to do it this way or whatever.. But it's fucking ridiculous...
Arrested Development was advertised, but they had really stupid commercials aimed at what is seriously called the idiot demographic. THEY WERE LITERALLY AIMING A CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED SHOW AT IDIOTS. Why? Because I guess they liked the show and wanted their friends and relatives to see it.
I still need to see Arrested Development but I did see Firefly recently; it took a while to get into but I absolutely love it. Why the fuck was that cancelled? Damn you FOX; not only are they retarded for cancelling A.D. and Firefly but Futurama as well (which is at least getting 4 DTV movies). But still, I can't wait to see Serenity (the Firefly movie). Random but I highly recomend watching Carnivale, although it's in a position identicle to Firefly's but it's awesome.
Companies always take into whether the fan base is large enough to justify the marketing cost. I've heard the reason Season 3 got pushed off Paramounts agenda is that the company had an intellectual property lawsuit.
I'm surprised that no one has seem to comment about how Clarissa Explains it All (seasons 2-5) was pulled as well. Everywhere you look Pete & Pete is the only show being mentioned and never Clarissa. I seriously feel like I'm the show's only fan since I bet most people got Pete & Pete 1-2 and ignored the S1 DVD for Clarissa. Even if it didn't do well it deserves it's remaining 4 seasons and Pete & Pete deserves it's last. Something needs to be done. Would buying more copies of the 3 do anything?
I deffinately agree that Pete & Pete has more of a "cult" following, but Clarissa Explains it All was one of Nick's most popular shows (and best, up with P&P). It's amazing, isn't it? I have no idea how someone could possibly screw up TV Land but they found a way, now it's up with MTV, VH1, Disney (sorta), and, above all, Nickelodeon as channels that were at one point in time amazing. Even Nick @ Night seems a little off.

Another reason the network's pulled the shows is the advertisers. Either the show insulted the advertisers or the advertisers saw no money in it. Another reason would be rating. Sure the fan base might be there and might be huge, but they dont all watch the show at the time when its episodes are premiered. Ratings, Advertisements, and Money.
Pete and Pete was great, but what I'd really love to see on DVD is Rocko's Modern Life. That's gotta be one of the best cartoons ever made. Everyone I know who watched it while they were growing up still has fond memories. I bet it'd make a truckload of money if Nickelodeon released it (with proper marketing, as you said). Lord knows it's better than anything they're showing nowadays (with the exception of the first three seasons of SpongeBob).
Yes, it's a crime that Rocko isn't on DVD - it was a hilarious show, an absolute classic, way better than anything on Nickelodeon now. (And I also thought the first 3 seasons of Spongebob were great, but now it's gotten stupid.)

Buy the other two DVD's (P&P Season 2 and Clarissa Season 1); I'm trying to get a lot of people to buy them because while I doubt it, it's possible that sales could bring the releases back and we can get the last Pete & Pete, the rest of Clarissa, You Can't Do That on TV, and so many more that have been cheated. It's deffinately a longshot but at this point I'll try anything. Just a suggestion.

I love torrents. I always torrent every TV show, movie and album that I want. Have not paid for any media in over 5 years since I can get it all for free! All my Playstation 2 games were downloaded from torrent sites aswell and ran on a modded system. Saved me a bundle over the years.

I only found out last week that Are You Afraid of the Dark is avaliable on DVD - one of many examples of shitty marketing.
Simiarlaly, it irritates me is when they change the packaging i.e. With Buffy & Angel, they were originally released in box sets, but now they're only released in a single DVD with three discs.. I guess because it's cheaper to do it this way or whatever.. But it's fucking ridiculous...

I still need to see Arrested Development but I did see Firefly recently; it took a while to get into but I absolutely love it. Why the fuck was that cancelled? Damn you FOX; not only are they retarded for cancelling A.D. and Firefly but Futurama as well (which is at least getting 4 DTV movies). But still, I can't wait to see Serenity (the Firefly movie). I hear someone dies...
Random but I highly recomend watching Carnivale, although it's in a position identicle to Firefly's but it's awesome.

Companies always take into whether the fan base is large enough to justify the marketing cost. I've heard the reason Season 3 got pushed off Paramounts agenda is that the company had an intellectual property lawsuit.

I'm surprised that no one has seem to comment about how Clarissa Explains it All (seasons 2-5) was pulled as well. Everywhere you look Pete & Pete is the only show being mentioned and never Clarissa. I seriously feel like I'm the show's only fan since I bet most people got Pete & Pete 1-2 and ignored the S1 DVD for Clarissa. Even if it didn't do well it deserves it's remaining 4 seasons and Pete & Pete deserves it's last. Something needs to be done. Would buying more copies of the 3 do anything?

I deffinately agree that Pete & Pete has more of a "cult" following, but Clarissa Explains it All was one of Nick's most popular shows (and best, up with P&P). It's just kind of annoying to see it so neglected. The worst part is that I can't find any torrents at all for the remaining four seasons; I might uy some old VHS tapes off amazon cheap as I am kinda desperate (sad I know; at least I found a lot of P&P Season 3 online). Just curious but did you get the Clarissa DVD?

It's amazing, isn't it? I have no idea how someone could possibly screw up TV Land but they found a way, now it's up with MTV, VH1, Disney (sorta), and, above all, Nickelodeon as channels that were at one point in time amazing. Even Nick @ Night seems a little off.

Loved the end of this vid. Yeah, I realized it's like years old but anyway just had to comment. Show's back in the day like Pete and Pete, Flash Forward, Bobby's World; my god were they awesome beyond belief. I look at shows kids watch today and I'm like what the heck were these people on when they made this crap. I mean seriously, t.v. today isn't what it used to be. With the exception of Supernatural, Heroes, Kyle XY & several others. Yeah, t.v. stations suck big time.

so, i cant discribe how much i agree with this rant.I luckly had a dvr when arrested devlopment came out, but it was a complete tragety it was cancelled. At least the dvds are cheap and not non-existant. Season three was amazing as i remeber it, but just like pete's favorite song, without seeing it i am losing the details. Season 3 must come out!

Another reason the network's pulled the shows is the advertisers. Either the show insulted the advertisers or the advertisers saw no money in it. Another reason would be rating. Sure the fan base might be there and might be huge, but they dont all watch the show at the time when its episodes are premiered. Ratings, Advertisements, and Money.

Pete and Pete was great, but what I'd really love to see on DVD is Rocko's Modern Life. That's gotta be one of the best cartoons ever made. Everyone I know who watched it while they were growing up still has fond memories. I bet it'd make a truckload of money if Nickelodeon released it (with proper marketing, as you said). Lord knows it's better than anything they're showing nowadays (with the exception of the first three seasons of SpongeBob).

If you are such a "marketing" genius then why aren't you out there making millions doing it? And yes there is a fan base for shows like pete and pete, i am a fan myself, but it isnt a large enough fan base to make enough money for the product to be successful. Not every fan from the past will buy the DVD and almost nobody that didn't like the show or don't remember the show will buy the dvd either.
