Guess it's easy to figure out who sponsored this riot......Folks....tuition is up because anyone can get funding for a college education these days.....state funds should not go to unmarketable degrees....yes we need artists....but we need engineers and .....Less students going to college = less demand for student loans which will drive tuition down..... academia is going through a necessary market correction...

They're solution will be to give more federal monies to fund student loans....as mentioned...colleges will realize this and increase their tuitions accordingly. This cycle will continue untill the money runs out (which is very close to occurring) The right won't solve it either, because they're in bed with coporate america (not that the left isn't) and wont move to protect american industry from foreign slave labor.

@whizbang47 Two things need to happen, the government must slowly draw down fincial aid forcing colleges to lower tuitions, and the government needs to improve the national job market by making the internal market more industry friendly, while heavily penalizing companies that outsource or import foreign workers....with all the lobbying going on at the hill....it is probably impoossible to do this.

If education in the USA is privatized soon the remnants of the country will be degrading as quickly and helplessly as former USSR republics.

all education isnt privatized, its just college and you dont need a college degree to have a job or to not be a criminal. colleges have been privatized since the 13 colonies were established, dont going running around asking for hand outs ,get a job and work to go to college like most people.Also dont even compare the U.S. to U.S.S.R. they were a bunch of powere hungry communists.

Education should not be privatized as this would lead to an elite class of people who could afford it and a large part of the population unable to afford education, effectively turning us into Mexico. We need more education not less, look at the Tea Party. Led around by fear and hate, education would go a long way to diffuse things like that.
