Windows Movie Maker is free, Sony Vegas is not... Windows Movie Maker may have some promblems, but atleast it comes with your computer... Plus I just think its better, this is my opinion.

you can always find something to download Sony vegas effects to WMM . And The good thing about WMM is that it is free and its full. You dont gotta download it. It comes with your computer.

Sony Vegas and Windows Movie Maker all have their benefits and flaws. For example:

The quality is a bit better on Sony Vegas and it has lots of different effects, but it's really hard to use.

Windows Movie Maker is easy to use, but it will freeze sometimes.

So they both have their flaws and benefits.

I use movie maker its not great but its not crap. Its really good for a free program as software like sony vegas and adobe after effects you have to pay for. Every one says adobe after effects is way better than windows movie maker but adobe after effects can cost almost a 1000 $ which is about 500 £ where i come from but that is a lot of money . Sony vegas i sure doesnt cost that much but. Im sure its not free unless you download it illegally

The list of FX all suck. The transitions all suck. And there's not enough of them in the first place. It's simpler than SV, but you still need experience. It's sound is awful, and the fact you can only add in one sound is hopeless. Then, once you've waited a good 30 minutes or so for it to render, (assuming it doesn't crash) the video quality is atrocious. +YT's compression = a nightmare.

There is actually a way to add more than 1 sound at the same time in Windows Movie Maker. And did you know you can atually clone in WMM? You just need an add-on to do it.
