If you quote the Qur'an, then your quoting out of context. If you make a point by quoting within the context, then your translation is in error. If your translation nor context is at fault then your wrong because you don't know Arabic. Only one correction - The Quran was not "penned" by Mohammed, who was illiterate but by muslims after his death from memory. This by no means makes it any more true of course.

Not coming from a religious perspective,I feel it quite interesting to "refute" any religion or lifestyle for that matter without understanding the cultural and social context of the day. If everyone's killing you because of your belief, why shouldnt you be allowed to fight back? And those who claim to follow your way of life but cant stand up in its defense should be looked at as hypocrites. As for "non believers" going to hell and cautioned against..this is seen in every existing religion...

Part of the reason for variation can be attributed to the rhyming or assonance of the verses which plays a role in knowing where a verse ends. During translation this uncertainty of verse endings introduces confusion. Other inconsistencies may arise from numbering or not numbering the invocation ("In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful") that precedes most surihs.

And though the numbering may be different, the meaning is the same...

I HAVE read the Quran in its entirety. I have also gone back and rechecked these specific verses. And I don't see any issues with context.
