  • this form of self defense is similar to yawyan (saYAW ng kamataYAN) of philippine martial arts

  • My bjj coach mike rose used to train with rico.

  • I like it and I use it. FMA mixed with Capoeira... and Judo, Jiujitsu and Kickboxing... love it.

  • this wouldn't be illegal in ufc. if it worked, you would see people do it. there is no way that will work in real life.

  • @dougerber

There are 31 rules in UFC; 27 of which directly relate to illegal physical attacks (eye gouging, small joint locks, hair pulling, groin attacks, 12 to 6 elbows, etc). If it REALLY works, it's illegal. Don't kid yourself. MMA fighters realize it's a sport and don't fight that way on the street. FMA practitioners realize the difference between training and fighting and what you see is not always what you get. The reason UFC is fun to watch is because the fights actually last usually.

  • @Budobuyu Amen. Despite the UFC being now closer to a Karate tournament than an any style vs. any style format, I still have tremendous respect for the UFC and MMA. But like you wrote, UFC doesn't mimic what a real life fight is like. The only "dirty" fighting in a real fight is fighting in the dirt. Everyone interested in fighting or self-defense needs to learn striking, ground fighting, AND weapons forms. Broken beer bottles aren't used in MMA, but they are used in bar fights. Right? :)

  • @lifesfinallgoodagain

You got it brother. I have a ton of respecdt for MMA fighters, but people are kidding themselves if they think it's the end all be all.

  • I would love to do this, it look great.

  • What song is this ? I NEED this for my carrenza !

  • Can you upload videos where ethnic Filipino tribesmen shows kali in a dance form...

  • @letshavewhat1111 if you want to see a kali dance that will open your eyes to kali, check out the Dance of death i posted on here.

  • Awesome!!!

  • awesome and very real, thanks for sharing your knowledge

  • @shaunton1 First, I would like to thank everyone for commenting on my year old post.... Second of all I am a practicioner of Escrima and have been for some time. In retrospect I could have worded my comment differently. My point was that FMA and Indonesian arts are to extreme to be used in MMA. FMA is for street let the Unskilled Floundering Children hold each other on the ground.... Incase you haven't noticed I'm not a fan of groundfighting...... :)

  • I personally dont like ground fighting especially if guys are gonna be attacking you more then one. someone says oh there's no art that can help you against more then one guy. that depends on the fighter and how far your willing to go. how far you wanna just let go and let your animal instrict take over and just go till you cant go no more. You may get beat but they sure as hell wont brag about it

  • @Mider999 Learning how to fight on the ground is important, but as you note, learning how to stay off the ground is every bit as important. The reality is that only the weapon arts provide a realistic answer to the problem of multiple opponents.

  • @sgtmac46 What i love about FMA is that you learn knife, stick, sword etc etc but it all flows into empty hand movements

  • Was talking yesturday to some BJJ punk who was saying crap like Inosanto is to old, Vunak is to old and he has the gaul to say he does kali and brazilian jiujitsu gosh some of these BJJ guys think there so great. He tells m ethat MMA is the closest thing to reality, thats brilliant i never knew youd get jumped by 3 guys in the octogan or perhaps roll around on broken glass. what a jerk

  • @Mider999 Most of those young kids have ZERO understanding of the styles or systems that are being utilized in MMA. Vunak actually PAVED the WAY for BJJ. He worked with the Gracies even before the first UFC came out. ALso those young punks think that if they wear Affliction or Tapout, that makes them badass. They always buy the stuff that is being advertised by the latest UFC champion. The moment he loses, he is forgotten. Love MMA, Fuke the UFC and moneymaking behind it.

  • @jbravo41 Yeah well those young punks are a disgrace to there masters, you use to see Gracie on youtube saying that BJJ is the best art ever, but we all know thats bullshit, we know because even the masters of BJJ, learn muay thai, Carlson Gracie was friends with Sam Kwok and wanted to integrate some Wing Chun into his art.

  • @Mider999 Well, that's what was inevitable. MMA was good in it's inception at breaking people out of their static patterns, but ultimately the same types of attitudes take over and it becomes the new static pattern. Human nature.

  • @sgtmac46 MMA has always existed really. from pankration to sambo they are some arts known as the original MMA. MMA is nothing new but you got these guys who have no respect for other arts Bralizilian Jiujitsu is new but lets face it its predecessors are like greco roman wrestling, and stuff like that THESE FILIPINO, INDONESIAN, JAPANESE AND CHINESE ARTS DO HAVE A PURPOSE FOR TODAYS WORLD

  • @Mider999 I know what you mean, but i'm referring specifically to sport MMA, ala the UFC, as that is what many folks derive their martial knowledge from. But your point is still valid. MMA the sport served a purpose, but many folks have learned the wrong lessons from it.

  • I wonder if Dan Inosanto teaches like this. I loved the videos on here of his Panantukan

  • @Mider999 Dan is close with the Dog Brothers....

  • @johnnymac74 Yeah i know they have trained under Him and other masters of the Filipino Martial Arts

  • @Mider999 I believe Guro "Crafty Dog" Teaches a Kali Tudo™ class at the Inosanto Academy.

  • great techniques, tough people.

  • The sticks are as long as an arm. Round abiut 80 or 90 cm.

  • how long are the sticks?????? can any one tell me please. i want to make some for practice

  • It seems that Kali, the best weapon system in my opinion bar none, has jumped on the MMA/"cage fighting" bandwagon and is looking to find a new avenue to sell DVD's and instructional methods.

  • do you get youre sticks from kombat instruments?

  • you can practice arnis if you have 2 rattan sticks. You want to have a pair?

  • yeah thanks bro. but where and what kind do i get and how much.......

  • you are living in USA? dude if im your relative or a friend im just going to give u a pair pasalubong

  • "salubong" , we can be, i live in imperial valley .. el centro Ca.... there is nothing here of that nature here, I travel to mexicali to learn I´m a senior student if you wan´t any thing from mexico ill be glad to give it to you pasalubong .........

  • Ohhh. . . .I remember that triangular footwork. Thats one of the kali basics footwoork

  • honourable men with respect for each other, great techniques, thank you for sharing.

  • To azn and apeng...chill kayo...pilipino against pilipino dadagdag pa kayo ng gulo it saddens me to see that the closest thing to juego todo is being done by foreigners...to apeng oo may grappling po ang Kali pero hanggang mabalian ng leeg di na tatagal no stalling..to azn, cnt u see that all martial arts in the world have similarities?theyre done by humans and not animals i hope u get my point peace!

  • Nice. I love that he realizes that armed fighting teaches unarmed fighting. That is the way they did it in the old days. You learn unarmed fighting by learning armed fighting. It is a rather "new"(19th century) concept that people are taught unarmed first. You will learn to fight much faster by starting with weapons. The Europeans, Chinese Japanese,etc... all of the old real Martial Arts learned Armed fighting first. Awesome video.

  • Yeah they had a video were they showed this guy boxing with knives then with out.......he was moving the same way but it was like.....i uno a special movement a perticular boxing method that he used as if he was holding two knives

  • That was pure and great video.

  • ive been saying it for a long time, mixed martial arts has become a great style. but it has yet to expand beyond traditional unarmed styles. open minds win fights.

and i apply what i know from grappling in kali whenever i can, i have won fights i should have been finished by simple grappling.

its all a big game and i love it.

  • Kali is his base of reference but there are many different concepts of stick & weapons fighting that would elevate his game. Jujitsu was seen as the best way to ground fight until wrestling and sambo were brought to the fore. After taking stickfighting to this high level, the last thing u want is to end up teaching a style

  • Hey... should stay in the Philippines to know really Kali means and street fighting. And live like filipinos..... Mabuhay...!!!

  • selling dvd's: check

bringing kali to the cage: fail

  • Uuummmm, Lyoto Machida uses these concepts perfectly. Also, go back and look at Shogun's knockout of Chuck Liddell. Another example of why this can blend with what we can call generic MMA.

  • Does anyone know what the song in the beginning is called, or maybe the name of the artist. I really dig that kind of music. The Dogbrothers and Guro Denny is awesome as always! Mabuhay.

  • crafty is awesome, we have experimented a lil bit Kali Tudo since I have MMA background.

  • If anyone can make Kali work in real fights it's the Dog Brothers.Have and always will be some of if not the best out there

  • Kai doesn't work in the cage.

It hasn't and most likely wont.

  • how many kali fighters have you seen in the ufc/wec/affliction? exactly none.

  • The dog brothers petitioned to have an event which combined sticks, striking, and grappling to the UFC... they got denied because it was "too ahead of its time..." aka too extreme... go to the DG website...

  • I know surfer the point I was trying to make is that yeah it is to extreme for the UFC. Train for life not for tv.......

  • Oh hahaha, sorry man, misinterpreted your statement. Rock on Monkey.

  • @monkeywithplutonium

    UFC is sport fighting...not real!

  • @monkeywithplutonium kali is mostly a weapon art which these days is being transformed to an empty hand (mano mano), grappling (dumog), kicking (sikaran).

also, most original practitioners of kali didn't pass their deadly art to the new generations because after WWII, they are tired of killing which is very unfortunate due to the effectiveness of the art in KILLING.

You don't see Kali in the UFC because they are being taught to Millitary special forces or other counter insurgency operations

  • @monkeywithplutonium dude not everthing is MMA ok. These guys are banging with sticks, and knives. This aint the cage my friend it's the streets. Stop being a UFC Arc-chair Quarterback. It more to combat then MMA.

  • @monkeywithplutonium Who cares? Let's see if any of those UFC fighters survive a knife fight with a PTK practitioner....... FMA are designed for combat.... Only tried and tested martial arts....

  • Do All the trolls here know that the Dog brother's are involved in teaching the US army weapon combative programs? these guys have the best of everything what makes these MMA fanboys think that they would compromise on martial art teachers? I myself do ninjutsu and my teacher says that this kind of training would fill in every single gap our style possess. he also says that there is a lot more to what these people do than may meet the untrained (trolls) eyes. mma fanboys wake up. its not real.

  • @RhadeConstantine Let them rant... These MMA fanboys do not understand the concept of kill or be killed in an actual combat..... They are not even aware PTK knife defense training are adapted by the Navy SEAL, US Marines, The Secret Service, FBI and local law enforcement agencies....

  • @monkeywithplutonium With due respect: I think the reason that you haven't seen anyone using this sort of material in the UFC yet has more to do with training intention and background than methodology. There is (typically) a different mindset for the typical MMA fighter: namely training that will yield either immediate or short term benefit rarher than trying to add a skill-set that they don't already have in place. In short, the fear is that this is too alien and would take too long to add.

  • yeah because its sport....sport and reality based fighting is different. No biggie to understand.

  • except this is for that very sport.

  • well what parts of kali dont work in the sport...you obviously wont use sticks in the cage but all the footwork and alot of the body movement of kali has been used in the sport of boxing since the 20's and 30's to this day when filipino boxers help revolutionize the sport. in kali there is stand up clinching and ground work that would look like certain aspects of jiu jitsu. Alot of the jkd guys use body movement they learned from fma when they did mma like erik paulson.

  • ive trained kali for a couple months now and i have to say it has the best practical use out of all martial arts ive studied and ive studied everything from kenpo karate to wushu. learning kali was the best thing i could do

  • Wushu is not a martial art,its just the name for martial arts in chinese.

  • Crafty dog is very Krafty

  • In Dog's family there's a very good research of effectiveness using also traditional technics, but don't miss the point.everytime we talk about "exercises",we see perfect footworks, joint manipulations and fancy sticks...then in fightin'situations there's always a great rumble with adrenaline, brutality and simple whipping sticks. Here there isn't exception...so let's train and don't care about Youtube too much.

  • ITS CALLED SILAT LOL

  • I had look at this material and played with it. It was fun and quite applicable in certain positions. It's not 100%, but it gave me a different perspective and actually improved my game, especially with the angles. The material from the Dog Brothers is definitely something worth looking at. This had me interested in my country's native martial art once again.

Of course, it is not just about the technique, but also the individual. It just so happened that it applied well for me.

  • Hi Uke!! See you still doing very well and still lots of work for you.

  • Anyone whoes trains in martial arts shouldn't "slag off" another. All martial arts have strong and weak points, but anyone who trains should be shown respect by other practioners. This Kali Tudo has some excellent techniques, i'm interested in it :)

  • The Tae Kwon Do and Kempo are very effective in this too

  • Kali Tudo is lame-o. It's just more material taken from someone else's system and repackaged.

  • you mean systems.. and in that sense it's the same as bruce lee's jeet kune do or modern mma in general.

  • nonachan you are idiot there is hand to hand combat in kali thats include the take down.you dont know that becuase your are idiot.

  • you guys are nerds

  • THIS IS NOT REAL KALI. fuck the instructor! i'd kick your ass anyday of the week, i'll use sinawali technique on you, you poser!!!

  • uh.. first off I'm Filipino. (So can't call me another cracka). been in FMA for 5 years. the DB are the real thing. They practice and train FMA more alive and under pressure. Way more than the general FMA community which is still mired down in a bunch of BS. They are the reason FMA still gets respect in a age where TMAs are disparaged.

  • and what i mean by disparagement of TMA(traditional martial arts) is TMAs that refuse to go all out. MMA/UFC style.

Sinawali technique? Sinawali is a dead pattern drill my friend. wtf are you talking about.

These guys bang it out. Fencing helmet and arm pads only. No gay WEKAF armor. I really would love to see you take these guys on.

  • Goddamn crackas straight up exploiting and abusing the PINOY arts...trying to make a fucking buck off FMA..putting classless sexual inuendos on womens clothing..

  • My friend, whislt to soem degree I agree with you, do you not see the irony of your post?

You talk about abusing cultural items that have there origins outside of your culture? well, lets look at you abuse of the English language? see how it works?

    Respect

  • I like what the dog brothers do for sure but that whole doggie style shirt concept for women really messes with the martial culture.

  • Sorry. Us Pinoy's suck at pushing the art to where it needs to be. Why is Krav Maga getting all the credit for FMAs in Hollywood for example? I don't see enough Pinoys training the art alive. and I haven't seen ANYONE put out any material showing FMA empty-hand working under pressure in a MMA environment.

    Give credit where its due.

  • yeah right!!! they're pinoys alright!!! im pinoy! gago ka. tangna ka. supot!!! ANG KALI AY HINDI GANYAN. GRACEFUL UN... ulol!

  • Whatever. I'm Pinoy too. Fil-Am.

Just becuase your filipino doesn't mean you know jack shit about actual applicable technique in Arnis/Kali/Escrima. Judging from your lack of technical criticism. I'd say you are just a poser who took Arnis in Highschool under gay WEKAF rules.

  • li know it because i was taught arnis kali at an early age fucktard. your dog master is lacking grace, its moves must go from one move straight to to next one. and why are they using wrestlers to promote their kali??? faggot

  • because they are teaching the unique advantages of FMA applied to MMA. Entries to get into a clinch and then takedown. It's a demo. if they went fast and smooth. you wouldn't catch the finer points of the techniques. If you weren't so close minded and ignorant. You would have caught that. You are the one who lacks respect. Closeminded Artists like you are a blight on FMA.

  • Also I like the name calling. It demonstrates you're insecurity. Name calling is the last resort of the defeated. Consequently I have a hard time believing you learned at a early age when you refer to using "sinawali technique" (a dead striking pattern) to beat someone. It's a drill or pattern taught to get muscle memory/coordination/etc up to speed.

  • yeah right... sinawali is the weave technique. wow. you really know what your talking about(sarcasm if your slow), hahahaha! name calling? wrestlers are fagg, its a known fact.

  • oh and consequently I don't think you've ever been in a real kali match (WEKAF rules or not) because generally it has a pretty broken rhythm its not all as smooth as when your doing basic single / double sinwali with a partner learning the technique. WEKAF style favors abaniko strikes and quick disarms. Non WEKAF style and you have what the Dog Brothers do. Search for crafty dog and look at his duel videos.

  • and yeah iforgot. there are no takedowns in REAL kali, its NOT grappling ass.

  • uh.. you haven't heard of dumog techniques? FMA does have grappling/ground/takedown techs.

Similar clinches to Roman-Greco with emphasis on neck cranks. just because you don't know them doesnt mean they don't exist. Sinawali is weave technique. Its also a dead pattern training. Which is exactly what I meant. you are weaving the sticks back and forth. a pattern. not the same as actually fighting. not the same as attacking blocks, counters, checks, disarms. etc.

  • i was talking about double sinawali. its not just a pattern. it the very basis of almost every movement, my point then was to use the basics of the REAL kali to educate. you are so stubborn, the kali you know is a pirated and raped version of what used to be a true art.

  • lol. So Leo Gaje doesn't have the real Kali either. You and your family with your secret lineage are the only ones with the r34l kali.

right. You sound like wing chunners fighting over who has the true linear from yip man.

  • why couldn't you answer a simple question, why in the hell do you need a washed up has been wrestler to promote what you call kali?

  • I answered it. If you read anything earlier.

It was because the wrestler has experience in MMA. It's his MMA gym. This video is about Kali applied to Mixed Martial arts. Using triangular footwork, Kali entries in application to mixed martial arts in the cage.

    God damn are you stipid?

  • In case you didn't understand earlier

KALI TUDO is the Dog Brothers Approach of Filipino Martial Arts techniques to MMA. MIXED MARTIAL ARTS. In the CAGE. The hallmark of FMA is triangular evasive footwork, Entries that involve attacking blocks, some trapping, Gunting, and FMA clinchwork/takedowns.

No one else has a Kali Approach to MMA video.

  • and Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje of Pekiti Tirsia Kali teaches takedowns and some groundwork. Oh yeah. he also taught these guys you are disrespecting.(who were involved in the formation of the UFC by the way). I"m pretty sure Leo Gaje has the "real" kali.

  • You might add that all these INTERNET WARRIORS can sign up for a Dog Brothers gathering and fight these guys that they are insulting FOR REAL! Talk about putting their MONEY WHERE THEIR MOUTH IS! And the video will be broadcast on YOUTUBE for the whole world's enjoyment! ;)

  • Good point, sgtmac46. I strongly believe the reality of these YouTube critics is far different from the arrogant expertise they project. Where are you JunFanJimi? No put down for the Dog Brothers? STILL WAITING ON THAT VIDEO OF YOU AND PAUL JOHNSON TRAINING. Show us how perfect you are!!!

  • No. You compete first in a mainstream premium MMA organization using the traditional kali shown in this video, and THEN we talk about it. It seems that Kali, the best weapon system in my opinion bar none, has jumped on the MMA/"cage fighting" bandwagon and is looking to find a new avenue to sell DVD's and instructional methods.

  • No takedowns in REAL kali? lol Whatever you're learning, it doesn't seem like REAL Kali to me.

  • LOL You are right !! All real martial arts used to have take downs and were ALL MMA before modern times and before "sportification". Jujitsu had strikes, karate had ground fighting kali had take downs and so on.

  • filipino martial arts is the shit!!

  • Nice teeth.

  • Nice vid guys. :)Check bujinkan out steal some tricks from there I saw many similarities in what you did ;).

  • Tried and tested, the stick concepts translates to empty hand. Nice and thanks for this vid.

  • Dog brothers are the shit!
