  • anyone who was born in the 60's who may have seen this, but are not sure... should view it again in the case that it triggers any memories... alot of the themes in this "program" can be seen recurring in subsequent Jim Henson productions.

  • Long Live Jim Henson!!!!

  • RIP Jim Henson

  • Poor Santa Claus

  • GO FRED!!!!

  • HUZZAH!!!!

  • FTW

  • OMG!

  • LOL

  • Long Live Santa Claus!!!!

  • HO-HO-HO!!!!

  • Happy Holidays!!!!

  • Merry Christmas!!!!

  • Walter (The newest Muppet) kinda has Fred the elf's personality, don't you think?!

  • The Flute-Snatcher and Fred the Dragon are among the Frackles.

  • O My Godz!!

    GONZO AND FRAGGLE ROCK!!! XD

  • Right about now, I could go for a cigar, myself.

  • alot of these muppets look familiar, a few noticible ones are the two big muppets, one of which is sweetums, a few of the "frakkles" are noticible, and as a matter of fact, the sets look nearly identical to the ones from fraggle rock!

  • @insaneninjabunny Actually one of them only look like what would later become Sweetums. The big green one is called Thig has eyes and a nose similar to Sweetums who made his debut a year later in The Frog Prince. The other big one is Thog whose named and appearance have remained pretty much same the over the years.

  • CC: "Snerk."

    Snerk: "Eh?"

    CC: "Come here."

    Snerk: "Eh-eh."

    CC: "I said come here."

    Snerk: "Eh-eh."

CC (grabbing Snerk): "Get that beak outta my face!"

  • Fred reminds me of Ernie.

  • @Johnny2071 He should. Both were voiced by Jim Henson and Ernie had made his debut on Sesame Street's first season a little over a year earlier.

  • Well that was a dead give away already. I was talking about his design and personality.

  • @Johnny2071 Yeah, I know what you mean. I guess what I meant to say is that they were probably aiming for a similar design and personality in when they made Fred. It least it seems that way.

  • FRAGGLE ROCK??? OH NO!!!! LOL

  • Gonzo's early identity, Snarl first appears in this special.

  • My Father and I have been searching for this in DVD bins and on all websites. Thank you for posting it! Let's hope that it will be available as a packaged DVD soon. I remember the original broadcast,... and I haven't seen it complete since.

  • I never saw the original broadcast so the only way ive seen it is through the version i found to post up here. I wish that they could figure out the rights issues on this as i would love to have a high quality version avaiable of it.

  • With any luck we'll get this as a bonus feature on the upcoming Muppet Show Season 4 DVD collection.

  • My goodness! I thought I was the only one who remembered this. A few years ago I tracked down the version you see here and traded for a copy. It's lousy quality but for a long lost treasure, it's da bomb!

  • I had always wanted this on dvd and I could never find it. Is this coming out on dvd or dose someone have a good copy of it?

  • Well, unless Disney and Ed Sullivan productions come to an agreement, it probably won't.

  • which is a real shame as this production is classic muppet humor

  • This is the first appearance of the big blue muppet monster, Thog. At 9 1/2 ft. tall, he is the biggest of all the muppets.

  • this is the only depiction of santa's elves that i can think of that doesn't creep me out.

  • And Fred!

  • i love this especialy cute movie.

  • great post.. depsite the quality.. i eat up all things Henson.. true inspiration

  • Well, this is better than the "Star Wars Holiday Special". :D

But thanks for posting, as I'd only heard about this one.

  • where did u get this?

  • at the very end, its proto-Gonzo! yay!

  • @Colbynfriends That Was The Old Gonzo Back Then He Was Called Snarl

  • YOU ARE THE GREATEST!
