  • He doesn't even play the Bach prelude at the beginning of the video correctly

  • Easily the worst guitar tutorial on YouTube. This guy can barely play himself, plus he's a douche, plus he obviously knows pretty much nothing about classical music, plus the actual song sucks, it's sooooo simple, and it sounds NOTHING like classical guitar music

  • i don't get it...

  • i just got my alvaro 430 spanish :D

  • whats the name of the first song he played?

  • @AskingAlesanaReverse It takes little while to get the lingo down but you'll get to :) if you have an iPhone get the Tabs app from the app store and buy the guitar tools in app perchace. It's got all the chords, a metronome and a guitar tuner. And you can play chords on it too. It's pretty cool :p

  • When you go from to G to the G# diminished, I would have thought that was a G diminished.. Does the root go up a half step? Thanks for the vid, great progression

  • I want to learn , but I have no idea what he's saying

  • i cant i cant play it! its too hard!

  • where i can buy a guitar like yours ´??

  • omg im in love with this piece!! @barkalacrus its called suite o1..it's bach's..played on cello originally!! LOVE IT!!!

  • omg im in love with this piece!! its called suite o1..it's bach's..played on cello originally!! LOVE IT!!!

  • They are just like 'Ukulele chords.

  • Moonlight sonata is such a beautiful piece of music :) I knew it would come in somewhere after here his pattern on the Am chord :P

  • Great lesson-especially identifying the chord voicings from 0:50 a nice change from 1st position open chords or bar chord voicings..beginners & other stylist will certainly be able to learn and play some classical here in minutes-to non classical guitarist...go for it!..I sight read music well but if u don't..try classtab.org (tabs with audio& vid all levels of music -contains (tons) of well known pieces you often hear here on YT (beginner to master level) tabs for all(even left handed)

  • this was amazing. i try my hardest to keep learning all sorts of different music. this vid was a big help. for me from playing pantera, motley crue, cinderella, van halen, damage plan, ozzy, deep purple, neil young, pink floyd to even writing my own music im always there to learn more. ty very much. ive written some classical pieces but its nice to learn actual bach n shit. keep it up n ill keep tuning in

  • Every time he starts playing the Am, I think stairway to heaven!

  • This is one of those dudes that learned the basics just to get laid, then got full of himself. All in all your not that great

  • You're terrible.

  • Wow... this is bad lol

  • I hate it when people try to magnify classical guitar by over intellectualizing it's difficulty! "classical guitar". "You can't learn it at home...." Oh! I have to be in the presence of a classical guitar god of the world! Blah blah blah! Shut the fuck up!! "Classical guitarists" are some of the worst guitarists I have ever played with!

  • Playing this A chord with PMI fingerstyle reminds of "Tool - Wings for Marie".

The best part was definetly the end! I love Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata!

  • great..thanx..lm just a beginner with classical guitar and find your stuff fun and easy to follow..keep it up

(pity the interent attract so many idiots with their cheapo abusive garbage..please excuse them tho as their just bitter morons)

  • this is awful. just awful. gag me with a spoon!

  • poor classical guitar ...

  • Why is that people with no classical guitar education whatsoever upload videos and call them "lessons"? Classical guitar is not blues, nor rock. You can't properly learn it at home. you need a good teacher and making a career out of it in order to be good. Someone needs to eradicate this kind of nocive videos.

  • @soullessSiIence You do not need a teacher to learn classical guitar. There are very good self taught musicians out there that play classical music. It just takes a lot of practice.

  • Good lesson. Very helpful! Thanks!

  • @8guitars4me do i note sarcasm, or are you seriouse?

  • You doing a great job bro .. This might not be perfect but you are making a lot of people believe that they can play and pick up classical guitar picking .. the lesson was very easy lucid and encouraging !

  • moonlight sonata?

  • ok but what if you are playing out of music notes?

see i play the piano, and want to learn how to play the guitar but i'm trying to figure out how to play it

  • Terrible lesson.

  • bwv 1007

  • Looking like Carl Philip the prince of sweden haha

  • @Suttiplutt hahah he looks exacly like him damnit! awesome!

  • you need some lessons bro

  • You made it look hard!

  • thank you.

  • It's easy to be an armchair critic via the anonymity of the internet, but the bottom line this was a beginner lesson and I'm certain beginners appreciate the effort and enthusiasm of this teacher. It's unbelievable how rude people can be when presented with anonymity and an audience; it makes me lose my faith in mankind.

  • @Yeti22 No no no it's not about anonymity it's about this guy. That someone who has clearly no idea of what he's talking about wants to give "lessons", that's what makes me lose faith in mankind. If a beginner would appreciate it or not doesn't even matter in this issue, since it's wrong technique and just random stuff with no concept behind it at all, and that does way more harm then good. Just imagine medicine students taught by some fool whose only medical source is Grey's Anatomy.

  • @ArcticGuardiaN i agree dude!

  • how dare you attempt to teach the classic guitar, calling it "fingerstyle". Where do they get these next level guitar people? also, why would you say that Beethoven would come up with something so elementary? He was perhaps the greatest musical genius of all time. go listen to his third symphony and realize how insignificant you are.

  • @Estonianwoodsman I think while it's pretty sweet for a new player to learn,

throwing a name around like Segovia or especially a name like Beethoven may be a bit over the top for this indeed. A bit like compairing playing power chords to playing full chords.

  • Acoustic guitar is so much better.

  • @Ilamarea You don't use acoustic for classical... -.-

  • @Ilamarea

than classical guitar? never ;) than this video? always!

  • the song played on the intro is the suite No. 1 (BWV 1007) by Johan Sebastian Bach

  • He's good people

  • sorry dude go take some lessons yourself before recording your wrong technique and terrible sound and labeling it "lesson".

  • @ArcticGuardiaN Yeah, he's using the wrong fingers and has horrible posture. The way he uses his thumb though, it's like pulling the strings not resting it. Well look at the username. It's obviously some cheap scam to promote some shitty ass overrated company.

  • @ArcticGuardiaN internet Monkey throwing shit as he is prone to do.

  • @ArcticGuardiaN Hey faggot. Why don't you take your troll friends and fuck off? This guy did a BEGINNER lesson and he did it well. It's pretty fucking hard to teach guitar and this buddy laid out a solid lesson. You're critique was rude, wrong, and stupid. Eat shit, loser

  • @Unithinker Hi there and thanks for your random insults. If you knew a little about playing the guitar you'd know that even complete beginners wouldn't profit from this "lesson", since they'd pick up wrong technique when imitating this guy. To give you a comparison, according to your profile you like to unicycle. If some guy on youtube couldn't cycle three feet without falling over, you wouldn't consider him a good teacher, would you?

  • @TheArcticGuardian Hahha, yes, I do like to unicycle. If you're so fantastic at guitar, how about you post a video teaching us to do the right technique? I'm willing to be proven wrong.

  • @TheArcticGuardian I agree this guys technique isnt great but the lesson does it's job... so its good:)

  • @Unithinker are u mad an jelly u cant play like that???

  • @ArcticGuardiaN Hi, I am curious to know what are some mistakes he is teaching in this video. I am interested in learning the classical guitar and do not want to pick up on bad habits. Please let me know what it is specifically in this video that is technically incorrect. Thanks!

  • @incronaut I'm Getting you a message on the subject. Just for the moment, that first piece is supposed to sound like this v=Oku0bMI2G1U&feature=related , and that's just a student's performance in a low quality video. I'm sure you'll notice the difference. You just don't learn classical that way, and if one wants to teach it like this, a terrible sound like the one of this dude is the first sign that you should go somwhere else if you're looking for instruction.

  • @ArcticGuardiaN well dude if your so good why are you looking for lessons on youtube?

  • @MrGuineasaurusrex Well, to be fair, the greatest all know there is always more to learn.

  • @ArcticGuardiaN shutup you shitcunt

  • @jonahtakalua1 wonderful language for a classical song.your mummy must be real proud of you.

  • @thanxx Such astonishing employment of sarcasm, your Maternal fosterer must be delighted.

  • @jonahtakalua1 well seen as though your a descendant of our past criminal fraternity, i would say thats rich coming from you!

Your command of OUR English language is remarkable.almost as good as your nations cricket team...NOT!

  • @thanxx My grandparents moved here from Scotland in the 40's so probably not. It wouldnt matter anyway seeing criminal attitudes aren't genetically attached and passed down through generations. And you're seriously claiming ownership over the English language? Thats like saying only Bill Gates can use a PC. One so hopelessly ignorant of his origins should not be so quick to insult anothers parentage.

  • Thanks, will go to David and Denis and check them out. Hopefully, this fellow in the video will get humbled soon and actually have to dsomething worthwhile to earn a living. It is amazing what a touch of humility can add to the life of an artist. I never ever met a superstar with a big ego who wasn't dead before age 30, and I met dozens. I also never met a superstar whos lived to see his old age who wasn't humble. And for my money, the classical guitar is a humbing instrument, not to be mocked.

  • BACH #1 SWEAT FOR CELLO!!! so everyone could see, anyway classical guitar is one of the most beautiful instruments in the world please listen to Denis Azabagic

or David Russell i'm really sorry but this guy should really take some classical guitar lessons before he tries to teach others PLEASE DON'T LEARN FROM THIS SORRY

  • @progressivelife while you're certainly correct about pointing out that this "lessons" are complete crap, please note that the Bach piece you meant is called a SUITE, a progression of dance movements, as opposed to sweat, that wet stuff that soaks your clothes when you work hard.

  • @ArcticGuardiaN well.. i wrote it quiet fast and english is not my first language so it got messed up but i'm sure people know what I meant

  • who's the guy with the loud voice yelling from behind the camera?

  • whats is the name of the first song playing ?

  • yarek, yeah, ur right, also called 'sheepgut' strings, cuz thats what they were made from in the last century. Classical can also refer to the style of playing as clas.... just how a violin is caled a fiddle if its used in country music.

  • what the piece the u played in the begining of the video?

  • what the piece the u played in the begining of the video?

  • that's a lovely lesson, all your lessons are really good. you seem very patient.

    thank you

  • in the beginning i thought the teacher was blind. xD

  • i hate it when people call classical guitar playing "fingerstyle"

  • @omaregb

Well, there actually are some differences between classical guitar technique and fingerstyle, since fingerstyle seems to refer more toward standard acoustic guitars. It's far less common to hear alternate or Travis picking on a classical guitar, and "fingerstyle" sounds less pretentious than "fingerpicking" sometimes.

  • @omaregb i think classic guitar stands forr nylong strings guitar.

  • Ok he's not so great...

  • end piece rocks! Wat is it?

  • I didn't go to a christain school and don't confuse my kindness for weakness. All you had to say in response to my first question was Bach's Cello Suite #1. I appreciated your lesson. But I spend my 20's 30's and 40's backing up people like Janis Joplin, Jerry Lee Lewis and jamming with the Allman Brothers. Classical guitar is just a hobby and I thought you did a good job of showing a beginning progression for a novice. I'm an old rich retired hard r&r musician, not just some kid with a guitar.

  • gay...

  • btw, my prelude is a bit better. but good job :)

  • .... ???!!!

  • how do i play the guitar like a crazy woman on crack

  • @lucadepu Do crack, get an operation, and get a guitar.

  • could you tell me the name of the piece you are playing at the opening?

  • @barkalarcus NO

  • @lucadepu Oh thank you so much. I looked all over youtube for a piece entitled NO and all I could find was The Prelude to Bach's Cello Suite #1 by Michela Hedges I never realized there were such short nicknames to some of the classical pieces. You are too kind. You really should try to be a little more rude.

  • @barkalarcus wow, what a weak comeback. maybe they didn't teach you how to be properly witty in christian school.

  • @barkalarcus almost sounds like part of moonlight sonata and others mixed

  • @barkalarcus I don't know if you got your answer but it's the really famous sweat #! for cello by Bach but anyway if you want to know anything about classical guitar you shouldn't learn from this guy. i'm sorry he looks like a nice person but this shouldn't be on youtube. completely wrong technique in every way sounds realllly bad

  • @barkalarcus it is JS Bach's prelude in Cmaj. though it seems to be transposed to Dmajor.

  • @NAtePoo it's originally in G major.

  • @barkalarcus its js bachs cello suite no1 prelude in Gmaj. transposed to Dmaj i think

  • @barkalarcus its a bach cello suite no. 1 i believe. i used to play it on my bass

  • @barkalarcus

    Prelude - Bach

  • @barkalarcus first piece is a terrible variation of bachs cello suit no1.

  • @barkalarcus sounds like the moonlight sonata to me but i don't know for sure

  • @barkalarcus JS Bach cello suite #1

  • @barkalarcus In case he does not answer, it is the 1st movement of the Bach 1st Suite for Unaccompanied Cello. There are several guitar versions of it out. You would need one of those; the cello suite is in bass clef and it is also in the key of G. The guitar version is usually in D, as this one was.

  • @barkalarcus Cello suite no 1 by Johann Sebastian Bach

  • @barkalarcus Bach-cello suite no. 1

  • @barkalarcus it's called prelude for cello.

  • @barkalarcus bach cello suit no. 1 prelude

  • Simple and useful lesson! Thanks

  • Not everybody who have a high resolution camera and a good sound capturing system can teach something, he is not the right person for giving lessons.

  • Not everybody who have a high resolution camera and a good sound capturing system can teach something, he is not the right person for giving lessons.

  • awful

  • look at his positioning...left hand, voicing, etc...shouldn't be giving lessons

  • thanks for this lesson!

  • stupid ?, but whats that support that you are using for the guitar. Looks like a little stand. Looks cool, it puts the guitar in right place

  • i think thats the same guitar i have, if it is, its from MEXICO!! haha, its very good :D

  • thanks for the vid, the reflection on the guitar makes it look like your outside in a meadow near a forest?!?

  • Whenever he plays that Am it makes me think of stairway to heaven

  • this is a nice guitar

  • thanks!!!

  • when you play Bach, don't reef on the bass notes so much... don't make the multiple voices so obvious to the listener.

  • Comment removed

  • Sounds very nice and simple to see.. thanx

  • what is the name of the song that plays at the beginning of the video? 0:00

  • @TheDragthewaters It's by Bach, a suite originally written for Cello. It's been transcribed to dropped D tuning. Cello suite number 1, apparently, but I'm not sure if this is correct. There are guitar versions in G also.

  • @GodsAthiest Thanks Bro!

  • @TheDragthewaters Bit more info. It's Cello suite no.1, the prelude section, BWV1007, transcribed to D from the original key.

  • Even after ten beers... Segovia wouldn't be able to manage to play with as little technique as this man.

  • @Debigguy789 completely agree.

  • Comment removed

  • kinda sounds like stairway to heaven

  • @obitobi100 actually, a little more like Moonlight Sonata....but everyone hears different things.

  • @obitobi100 well it is in A minor i guess lol

  • wow this guy is absolutely terrible! Get a method book bonehead!!! Segovia having beers....if you want to learn classical guitar.....watch anybody but this guy

  • you guys should do more with classical techniques..it's crucial to bring this stuff to people..it's both useful in modern music and incredibly captivating when you really dig into learning it

  • what is the name of the song that plays at the beginning of the video? 0:00

  • the last part of the progression reminds me of the intro on metallica's call of ktulu

  • where's the video he plays the 1st movement of Moonlight Sonata and introduces the basic pedagogy again?

  • very useful for a beginner (like me)

  • i am right hander guitar place whice side face left or right

  • wats the name of the song hes playing in the beginning of the video?

  • @zrssav That is

    Bach's BWV 1007 Prelude

just listen Segovia's version here on youtube

  • tabs suck!!!

  • @Nautilus987 Blasphemy

  • Excellent job!

  • At least you have to be able to play properly to be able to make a lesson video. This is not in that category..

    Zap on to be satisfied..

  • I just have to ask. Do any of you know what the song played at the beginning is? I know I've heard it quite a few times, and it would be nice to learn it.

  • Its a prelude in D major by Bach. Its a staple classical guitar piece ever since Segovia transcribed it for guitar.

  • Oh, thanks a bunch! You wouldn't happen to know where I can find some tabs? I wasn't able to find any. I've managed to find out parts of the song, but I'd rather see some correct tablature.

  • just search classical guitar prelude in D, bach, then find a video where is shows their hand and just watch that. I don't know where you could find tabs, most classical stuff like this is all on ledger lines.

  • great lesson!!

  • i love the last song moonlight sonata<3

  • those who want more video , go to their official website and buy it.

They are just showing part of th lesson in their package

  • the right hand position is wrong !, the thumb should try to be more horizontally, avoiding the up-down movement of your index and middle fingers, thats basic on classical guitar...

  • people can play however they want

  • this guy is great and his expression on 1:37 makes me laugh

  • can you do more advanced lessons on classical please?

  • I studied classical guitar for a while. This guy is just playing by ear, he's not doing the proper tech as someone else noticed.

Class. guitar requires you to read music. The low E is 3 lines below the staff and the higher notes go several lines above the staff. It's challenging. You must read not only the note but also which fret and string it's played on. Learn to read music before tackling class-guitar!

Plenty good videos of classical guitar on YT. "Recuerdo del Alhambra" especially

  • I still study cllassical guitar infact I go to classical music school :) it's not true that someone who wants to play classical guitar has to read notes :) though he/she must learn to read if he's aiming on music school but you can play classical pieces by ear it's just a matter of choice if someone wants to play little classical but by the way, don't let the notes scare you :) it's not that had as it looks hehe :)

  • You're kidding right? The easiest pieces for beginners are still written in traditional notation therefore reading is ESSENTIAL.. You don't need to go to school but it helps to have a teacher and a classically trained teacher will show you proper hand position. A lot of chords in classical guitar cannot be played by ear bcause many are not in the root position.

It's true that classical training in guitar helps a lot for expression and technique as someone said.

  • I don't know why are you trying to fight :) I didn't mention anything about playing like real classical player or something like that, I just mentioned that if someone likes the sound of classical guitar or just likes playing classical songs its not rule that you need to play some classical song the way it is written Some one is playing guitar not profesionaly but just for fun and where is a problem if he learns song by ear because he LIKES it and he plays it for him and his kids or relatives :)

  • Good music is made by ears, not by notes.

  • Are you saying that all the music that has been written is garbage, or are you saying that a good musician needs a good ear? Of course a good ear, and ear training are necessary, but the music that was written needs to be played the way it was written, not faked, out of respect for the composer and the public.

  • A good musician needs a good ear, you are totally right. I get what your saying, though, but I just think, that a musician is a better musician if he has GREAT ears and no knoowledge about theory, than turned around.=]

I still get what your saying, though.

  • Ah we're coming to an agreement! Some of the best musicians in Blues, Jazz, Rumba and also popular singers, couldn't read music and didn't know music theory yet they had a great ear and made chords by instinct. Check out for ex Django Reinhardt, the genius of Gypsy jazz and get your mind blown away.

Conversely classically trained musicians are unable to improvise. That is because the approaches are different. In classical music you don't study harmony because you aren't required to improvise.
