  • I think Sega needs to make some new downloadable super scroller games like this. I'll happily sit and play them all day long, even if it isn't in 3D.

  • It's a professional 3d sound... but I can't see anything on Screen

  • Amazing! O_o

  • nice driving at the beginning :D

what controller are u using to play this game? joystick, keyboard , racing wheel or game pad?

  • @condorX2 ps2 dual shock via usb adapter.

  • 2D gaming at its finest.

  • want this game also in first person?

  • Holy shit those clouds at the beginning of DC were epic.

  • This entire game is epic.

  • Sega, where's the Xbox live arcade download for this? I'd grab it in an instant.

  • Finally it works on MAME but it's not fully 100% perfect

  • download the "toutrun" and "toutrun2" versions, and only use the 2 to play. ive never had a problem with mine since.

  • I think they should have that Turbo Outrun Arcade game along with Out Run; Hang-On and Super Hang On for Playstations 2 and 3; X-Box 360 and Nintendo Wii. Then nobody will have the Turbo Outrun mame problems.

  • welcome to Japan!

  • "Rush a Difficulty" doesn't scare me at all. If anything, it's one of the coolest songs in OutRun history along with my personal favorite- "Magical Sound Shower." To me, "Magical Sound Shower IS OutRun. "Keep Your Heart" (the second song) is also cool. "Shake the Street" is the final song. Doing turbos on those oil fields makes a cool effect! Almost like you're setting the entire highway on fire. The sprite scaling is amazing. Expect nothing less from Sega in this department.

  • it doesn't scare me either, but it used to the first time I played it as a little kid.

  • yeah, i really love that part of the highway. it's actually my favorite section and the one I look forward to most. :P

  • which section ?

  • @azmune "shake the street" is my fav song on turbo outrun

  • Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I have the 3 rom files toutrun, toutruna, and toutrunk, mame and mame 32, and all I get is missing files or game cant run errors :-(

  • Dude, Automatic works so that I dont have to use a key to shift. My new PC is suppa ghetto.

  • If my old piece of hardware works (1998 PC), then I would use me old computer for MAME purposes only. That'll be sweet if someone offered me an AMD K6-2/400 Processor (Socket 7) so that my computer can run once more.

  • does the "rush a difficulty" (stage 1-4) song scare anyone?

  • That was a good run!!, Miami Vice and the 1st Out Run made me a fan of ferraris

  • Guys how do I map the turbo button to my xbox controller?

Anyone has an xbox 360 joystick map file?

    Thanks

  • how can you play this on xbox, is it available on xbox live arcade, or do you have a MAME emulator on it?

  • I've been seeing this video for a long time, actually. I absolutely love it. I've never seen or played this game, and so I'm thankful to see what it was like. I'm curious as to Sega's interpretation of the U.S.A.- snow-covered mountains in Atlanta? This was a great video. I wished you could have progressed further.

  • how about the gobi desert in dallas? hahaha XD

only arcade i know that still has (a working version of) this game is Funspot on US-3 in Weirs Beach NH

  • correction: Round up 5 - Super Delta Force

  • I think it was called something like "Round Up 5"

  • Which set is the game? 1, 2, or 3?

    I have MAME 32 v.126, and Turbo OtRun ses 1, 2, and 3.

  • What was that arcade game called with the Yellow F-40 think it was a bit like chase HQ I want it for mame but dont know the name.

  • what version/system are you running MAME on? I'm using it on a 2.4 Ghz Intel iMac with OS X 10.5 and it runs like shit (super slow with terribly garbled sound). I'm guessing this is a PC version of MAME? I have Parallels so I can run XP, let me know exactly what you're using or if you have some sort of speed hacks, I really want to get this working since there are no good home ports and I don't have $1000 for an arcade.

  • I'm using one of the older versions--Mame32v94. And my PC is running on windows XP and a hardware that's about five years old without any graphics card. That said, I think you need to make sure you get the ROM that's bug free since one of the earlier versions were full of problems.

  • works fine on amd 2200xp with 512mb 2100 ddr ram shappire radeon 1650x under windows xp

  • those specs are very close to mine. except i stand corrected in that i do have a graphics card (Inno3D GeForce FX5200).

  • My church has the arcade game of it, but the start button/turbo button doesn't work, only the gas pedal, gear, steering wheel, and brake pedal works, just the button doesn't work.

  • i gotta get to your church one day!!!

  • I still love old games, for me personally i think that older games had much better story and game play, despite the graphics older games were really kool

  • turbo outrun was bloody hard but still gr8 fun to play.. use to put untold quids in the arcade version to clock it.. the f40 car was the nuts..

  • There's a decent conversion of Turbo OutRun for the FM-Towns Marty console in Japan. It's not as good as the arcade but better than the MegaDrive/Genesis version.

  • I was addicted to this game in 1989, i used to play it in white group leisure in manchester. It was the sit down version, and the sound was fantastic. I loved the engine sound in this sega game. I don't think anyone at Sega now cares for it too much but I would love an updated version...!!

  • This was THE game that made me fall in love with Ferraris. The Commodore 64 version seriously kicked ass!

Wish Sega would make "Turbo Outrun II" in the fashion of the latest two Outrun games, although i'm quite sure that's not gonna happen :'(

  • Is it legal to post videos from emulators???

  • Oh my god...

The righteous guy need some pussy!

  • Good drivin.

  • It's so good that this game is emulated now, the home Console versions of Turbo were rubbish =(

  • Totally agree. A Saturn version would have been a very competent port. Too bad they never released it on that console.

  • i agree, you'd think this game would have at least made it to a sega ages disc...

  • Yeah, I played this in the local arcades:) This game was harder than the original Outrun. It's a pity that you didn't reach the end... I still remember "Keep Your Heart", my favorite music from Turbo Outrun (it's playing when you drive from Chicago to Atlanta)

  • Awesome! I just got hold of the Mame roms after seeing this video. Took a while to realise I needed OutRun as well :/ I've actually been playing that theme tune in WinAmp for about a year (not constantly, ho ho ho) and it's been about 5 years since I played the actual game in the arcades. Nice. OutRun, T-OutRun and Powerdrift - Bless Sega. Bless 'em!

  • i am the most pc illiterate person in the world,is it hard to get this mame stuff??

  • I don't think so. Too be honest, I'm not so tech savvy myself. I had my brother install everything for me (it's all free). I only needed to configure my PS2 Dualshock 2 pads to run the game. Works flawless with the twin analog stiks!

  • thanks a lot,i have friend who said he can do it,he has like 40000 games saved on his pc.....i just want turbo outrun and samurai showdown 1 and 2 ....LOL

  • ok you are now GOD to me,i have been looking at youtube daily to see if someone would upload this game and all i got was that acrade cabinet one.......this is my fave racing game hands down, screw burnout, screw gran turismo...long live Rush a Difficulty....LOL

  • Thanks, glad you enjoyed the vid. Great game when you wanna spend quick time to have fun and just relax.
