Hi..what was the bitrate and format of the original video? What is the highest possible bitrate in H264? I have Xilisoft HD Converter software in which the max bitrate option for H264 format is 2000. I see the video is of little low quality so I want to have the highest bitrate for this. Can I have a high bitrate option in Xilisoft if I run any external codec for this format?
Hi! The original video was HDV and compressed to about 1500kbps (at SD resolution) for the YouTube upload. The 1500kbps looked almost lossless. As for the poor quality here, this was uploaded over two years ago, before YouTube had any kind of "high quality" or "HD" playback options, so the YouTube recompression was much worse that it would be today.
As for a max bitrate for H.264, I don't know of one. I have never needed to go higher than 6000kbps, and that was for 1080p output.
@sridharaiyer Highest bitrate setting I've seen for h264 is 30,000kbs (for picture only add audio bitrate on top for total). On a high definition video 1080p 3600kbs isn't that much worse than 8000kbs, anything below 2500kbs will be poor quality. Poor quality meaning noticably not perfect, starting with frame synch being juddery as you get lower to very bad picture quality and ridiculously low bitrates.
