fantastic bass line and great playing. kevin's bass lines are absolutely amazing. this video made me realize how sexy this line in particular is. you did a great job getting the tone and feel down. awesome job!
this is so awesome! great playing. are those TI flatwounds? do you have a Peavey t-40 yet? do you know that other "of montreal" tune, "grommel edit" or something like that?
@adebicki I just thought I'd let you know that I made a video of me playing along with Gronlandic Edit on my Peavey 1979 a while ago. It's not nearly as perfect but it sounds like you'd want to watch it
man i've seen this video o n the suggestions for awhile, but i was always so reluctant on watching. I finally watched the entire thing in awe. Thank you for posting this, it was wonderful
Wow, I love this song and I had no idea this is how complex the bass sounded! Very good job, glad to see someone else giving this much value to my favorite band =)

in other words your a tosser who loves soloing but doesnt give a dam bout rest of the band this is why your on youtube flashing your talents cos no band will touch a prick like you lol
@burlearth Yes, there has always been a strong Sparks influence in their work combined with a strong 10cc influence. Then, on The Sunlandic Twins, Kevin began working a strong Prince influence into the mix. And somehow, he managed to make them all set well together.
YES YES YES!!! Well said in your vid description, oM's basslines are so funky and melodic; super disco-y at parts, then really herky-jerky staccato stuff at other times. Great playing!
Kevin and Davey would be proud. Your bass even looks like Davey's. It's so true, the basslines don't get nearly as much recognition as they should. You should definitely keep posting OM songs, I loved watching this!
Very impressive. As a composer, I've been delving into the musical textures of the last few oM albums, and I love the (often multitracked) bass lines Kevin uses. Often, those are the melodies that stick in my mind for a while, as with "Wraith Pinned to the Mist (and Other Games)" or "We Were Born the Mutants Again with Leafling."
This video reaffirms the fact that the timbre of the 4001 (as used by oM) is just plain sexy. Kevin's music makes me want to be a bassist more than a guitarist.
@Zebztheshit2 The live version of oM does often use two bassists, and two seems to be the general requirement for songs on oM albums that are almost entirely performed by Kevin. On a few songs, though, it seems that Kevin overdubs at least three bass lines on his own (as in "So Begins Our Alabee," if I recall correctly).
ahhh...dude that was sooooooo good. I love all of Kevin's basslines, he's such an amazing musician. Kudos to getting that down. The bassline for this song is so incredible. I saw your Alabee one and that was also so impressive. Do Bunny next! Do Bunny next! haha
Hey man great job really incredible. I play acoustic/electric guitar myself and have been figuring out some of their new song from skeletal lamping. Kevin Barnes is unbelievbly tallented and i don't have clue how he can come up with such catchy riffs, lyrics everything. Are you in a band?
his basslines are godly. thank you for posting this. i don't understand why the bass isn't put as a higher priority for more bands. it's my favorite musical instrument!

One of the appealing elements with Of Montreal's music, which is also a fault in some people's eyes, is that the songs are often "busy".

Woah, that adds a whole new dimension to on of my fav songs, its hard to hear in the song unfortunetely.
