Just because one article mentioned this song sounding like another, everybody has to dis this song now? So just because someone said it sounds like something else, everybody decides that they hate it?
@ICDave Take something that already exists, change a minimum of three things that make it what it is, and presto, you have something clearly your own. Trouble is, no one wants to see or in this case hear it.
Heck, I'm gonna be taking a traditional Banana Bread and changing it around. Adding things to it to make it a truly original taste sensation. Who says it just has to be bananas and walnuts. I gonna bring something new to it.
@ICDave Oh, and I also noticed the people getting upset are probably of the same sort that think the songs from Glee are original. Especially when they are just covering better versions of such titles.
I thought there was something familiar when I first heard this (LA) song; just couldn't place it. Whether intentional or not, there is something there. Sure, some resemblence to my ear. Intentional or coincidental? But I've been a music fan most of my life, and I remember APP, even if not a fan. The LA song is ok as well.
Need You Now is so much different from the APP song. Listen to the beginning of each, that alone tells you something. Plus, how many people really remember that 1982 song of Alan Parsons? Sure, I remember it once this has blown up, but come on! This is nuts! Lady A did nothing wrong and if the APP camp decides to truly go after them for their song, they need their heads examined because neither of the song is the same in any way! NONE WHATSOEVER!
I like APP, but the chorus only vaguely sounds like Eye In The Sky. If it hadn't already been suggested, I never would've made that connection. This isn't like when Vanilla Ice ripped off Queen.
@throbb1 There is no need sue. Lady A did not rip them off. Yeah there are some similarties, but they are competely different. In music it is possible to use the same chords that are used in other songs and not doing it on purpose. I don't see Lady A the kind of people to rip off other artist. Hillary grew up in the music industy and I'm sure she would never try to rip someone off.
r u kidding me? this video is perfect. it tells the story of someone who can't contain themselves, leaving behind their ego, to find the lover they can't live without.
lol it's so confusing when they arrive at this 'gathering,' and the lead singers both have startled faces like they're looking at each other with loving looks from the distance! ...but it wasn't lol
This video makes both my eyes and ears uncomfortable. The video's flaws are obvious with its confusing plotline and connecting points. With the audio, I wish her accent was a little more heavy. Beautiful music even with the obvious take from Eye in the Sky. I like what they did with notes, I only wish the voices were stronger.
Lame song... but I don't think it's a rip-off of Eye in the Sky. I mean, c'mon... most pop songs are written with only slight variations of the same four chords.
This isn't even close to a rip-off of Eye in the Sky, if you read the article with the mash-up and listen to it, the pitch is so horribly altered in Lady A's version that it's obvious it was deliberately done to make it sound like the APP song. Give me a break, folks. Have an original thought for once rather than jumping on the bandwagon of someone bored enough to pick out a faintly similar thread from both songs. I can take any song and find a similarity to another based on a melody.
Funny. This is not a country song, not by a long shot. But these days if you're over 30 and making something with a Jackson Browne, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac type of sound, they call it country. This is rock. Weird biz these days.
It is so irritating when you got a good up and coming artist get blasted because they won a few awards , because their song might sound a tad similar to a song from the 80's get over it already. Both were good songs and both are totally different. Also Zxer91, this is not even close to a blatent rip-off , blatent rip-off would be Lynard Skynard ripping off Warewolf of London with Sweet Home Alabama, then ripped off by Kid Rock...with Singing Sweet Home Alabama All summer long..
Freaking ignorant idiots, think this is remotely close to Eye in the Sky, totally different songs, there is maybe one or two parts that are remotely similar, thats about it. Listen to Eye in the sky and this one with out tempo and pitch changes that Yahoo tried to feed you. A bunch of garbage and you sheep lap it up, and beleive it.
Ok, the chorus part does sound a little like it, I'll admit that. But, why do ppl have to be all in an uproar about this? Honestly, does anything really belong to us? It's funny how ppl are all this is mine, mine, mine-I made this and now you gotta pay me millions of dollars because your chorus line sounds similar to mine. It's stupid and I can't believe ppl waste their time getting angry about. Hey, take your millions you won and feed the homeless!
I don't think this song is a direct ripoff of Eye in the Sky. I never noticed any similarity, and even after reading that article, I can't say i hear it. The article made it sound like they'd "sampled" directly from the song, like whichever song that is that rips DIRECTLY from "No Can Do" by Hall and Oates. Or what about that Kid Rock song that has the hook from Werewolves of London in it?
I'm not a fan - didn't even know who these people are. Get over it.
@zxer91 Not so blatant. Blatant would be direct use of the actual MUSIC. As was the case with Vanilla Ice. Kid Rock did it. Hall and Oates was directly ripped off a couple of years ago - can't remember the name of the song but every time I hear it i THINK they're playing "No Can Do" from 1981. THAT is blatant.
Totally ripped off from the Alan Parsons Project " Eye in the Sky" They better save their pennies. They will be paying out like Vanilla Ice did only bigger. So friggen obvious this music was stolen.
this song has been out for a while, and when the news reports that they may have ripped it off, or borrowed it EVERYONE seems to comment "omg they took the lyrics" blah blah blah.. couple months ago you couldn't have given 2 shits... so shut the fuck up everyone saying "lyrics are bit". There IS NOT A SONG OUT TODAY THAT DOESN'T NOT CONTAIN SOMETHING ORIGINAL IN IT.. EVERYTHING GETS REHASHED FUCKING LIVE WITH IT RETARDS.
@HEADSHOTTHEORYclan Do you have any clue what a double negative is? Doesn't not is a great example of it. By the way the issue is not the lyrics its the blatent ripoff of the melody line from an Alan Parson's Project song. All fans of music ask for is original scores when an artist is taking credit. If Lady Antebellum was at least up front about their usage of someone elses melody line it might have been more well received.
I was wondering why I liked the tune, heard it back in the 80s (Eye in the sky)- dont care for the lyrics though- nothing but a drunken booty call song..
:( this song reminds me of my ex and the worst part is that we've been broken up for a year and four months...man time flies and i hate that i still think about her at times..
Its so generic. Without the lyrics, it would be mocked as one of worst songs of the year. The music is absolutely wretched, and the male voices are horrible. Whoever wrote this should be given a fucking medal. He made gold out of shit.
So many memories.........! :( ever get the feeling that no one cares about u and u just wana jump off a cliff?? well this prevents me from doing that! love it!
I'm a Lady Antebellum fan they are my favorite band in country. I love this song its my favorite song. I didnt like it before but scents Ive been listening too it I love it.
@haukka1987 I respectfully disagree. This has all of the earmarks of a country song. It's not as "twangy," thank goodness, as most textbook country songs are, but it IS indeed COUNTRY. And incredibly awesome.
@ferdblivid - I like to think I have a pretty good ear for music... and I've heard both songs individually and simultaneously... and I don't see how you think they ripped from Eye in the Sky. I'll listen to it again...
sooooo true!!!!! great song~ love both sides of emotions from him and her. kinda makes me sad~ but it's a good sad, i guess it wouldn't make me sad if i hadn't had mannnnny great time, and reallllly know what she's expressing in this song....
This song was one of the best country song of the yr. This song was a huge hit all over the world. This song hit across all stations on radio and tv. This song hit the mainstream real big which gave country music a big boost up in the charts in the top 20 charts. I am not that big on country music but I think that this was one of the best country song I've ever heard in country music. I like Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood also. But nothing could compete to this song here.
Let's just say, Country music is not my cup of tea. But this song is more like a pop song than the typical country song. And I just couldn't get it out of my head.
@56deepwood This song is more like country pop song. I think country and pop do mix and thats the reason why country and pop music is on the rise today. Shit everywhere I go now today I see Taylor Swift t shirts and Lady Gaga's t shirts and cd's for sale.
I love this song. This is my boy friends and my song. It rocks. My daughter is 5 and she loves this song as well. Every time i play it she sings along to it.
I held the love of my life in my arms one year ago today...bad choices were made and he now lives on the opposite side of the world. We talk mostly every day and miss each other so much but do to reasons beyond our control we are unable to travel to be together again. Every day I die a little more inside with out him. This is our song and it hurts so bad to listen to it at the same time makes me feel closer to the love of my life. I NEED YOU NOW GOOF NUGGET!!!! I pray for a miracle every day!
This song has a haunting melody and I have to wonder if the writer sunconsciously still clings to the memory of the vocal parts in the "Eye in the Sky" by the Alan Parsons Project. Pull that song up (from 1982) and see if you can hear the melody which appears again in this song.
seriously lady antebellum and taylor swift sound so much alike, first time i heard this song, thought it was T.S but i was kinda happy it was someone else, cuz taylor makes juss a lil too much songs like this, which kinda makes her predictable.
@Darlenevirgo almost every song does that so anoying, they just can't hear it. taylor swift also sounded like kesha, pixie lott, hilary duff and kelly clarkson by the songs i came past.luckly someone's hearing it :)
Didn't they both get the wrong people? i mean look at there face how can they not notice that there hanging out with different girl/boy? this music is so CONFUSING! but love it anyways ^^
I agree with RockerChick1052, but there are songs of all genre's that transend certain things about the music that just moves us. Beautifully done, and I really like the guitar in this one even though it has the country twang (supposed too). This song along with 1000 miles (from Dwight Yaokam) are awesome.
I am the eye in the sky, looking at you, I can read your mind.
Yep, it's plagerism.

56deepwood 1 year ago
@56deepwood This song is more like country pop song. I think country and pop do mix and thats the reason why country and pop music is on the rise today. Shit everywhere I go now today I see Taylor Swift t shirts and Lady Gaga's t shirts and cd's for sale.

@robberbaron826 Yes, I was thinking that too when I heard this song! Wow! Yep, "Eye in the Sky" --it's there, especially in the chorus <3

seriously lady antebellum and taylor swift sound so much alike, first time i heard this song, thought it was T.S but i was kinda happy it was someone else, cuz taylor makes juss a lil too much songs like this, which kinda makes her predictable.
pinkgirlpuppy 1 year ago
and I love Taylor Swift but I think she sounds better than Taylor in this song. I dont see how people think she sounds like her here. sorry!
Darlenevirgo 1 year ago
@Darlenevirgo almost every song does that so anoying, they just can't hear it. taylor swift also sounded like kesha, pixie lott, hilary duff and kelly clarkson by the songs i came past.luckly someone's hearing it :)

I dont get this video. doesnt match the lyrics to me? Maybe I am looking at it differently. Whats your interpretation of the lyrics?

I agree with RockerChick1052, but there are songs of all genre's that transend certain things about the music that just moves us. Beautifully done, and I really like the guitar in this one even though it has the country twang (supposed too). This song along with 1000 miles (from Dwight Yaokam) are awesome.

Im not usually into this type of music.. Im usually into metal and rock.. but good lord I'm addicted to this song!
