I think that you should go on a hot air balloon ride! That would be so fun, but maybe cold. I also think a facial, a pedicure and manicure. Well I'm not the best when it come to developing original ideas for parties --mostly bc I don't know your tastes personally. I think you have the greatest personality- genuine, excitable, HAPPY, and overall you deserve a surprise party. I often feel depressed on my Birthday because it is the anniversary of the death of my aunt and I am estranged from my family by choice (long story). To cheer me up, my fiancé often takes me out to gaze at the stars from the beach at midnight. It often works too, except my Birthday is very close to xmas so it's FREEZING! what i did for my recent birthday party was i did a spa-movie party! I rented out a whole theatre and watched new moon then i brought in people from the spa and they gave us foot spa and massages and pedicures and manicures! every one enjoyed! you can probably do it at home too instead of renting out a cinema like i did and ask contact some spa people! then i gave out bubba cakes (cakes made out of towels and spa treatments/items)
Hi Carol. I think you should have an old fashion girls' sleepover. When I turned 30, my girlfriends came over the night before my big birthday party. We had a sleepover. The kind like when you were a teenager. We rented a bunch of fun movies, had tons of food, did makeovers on each other, etc. It was fun.
I was like you, I didn't want to turn 30. But with this sleepover thing, we had a good time. And 30 didn't feel so bad. It was really fun!!
Well I think that you should embrace 30 because I hear that is when you really start to feel comfortable in your own skin. Also, since you live in FL, you should go to Disney on your birthday because you get in free and they give you a pin with your name on it saying its your birthday. So turning 30 isn't as bad as turning 40, for me anyway it was so depressing. Now that I am over 40 I finally realize and a lot of people have said to me that I don't look my age. So everyday before your birthday count your blessings because you appear to be a very blessed young woman!
I think you should totally spend sometimes with those who count. Make a ''sleep over'' with your girl friends :) Have some fun watching old romantic movies or comedies together, do your nails, make facials, Everything :) Don't forget, Order food and use paper plates. No cleaning for the Birthday Girl ya know ! ( and you can't ask your hubby, most of the time, he'll forget ;D )
i think you should buy a little gift for yourself on each day. think of 5 things you want and start of with a little gift and end up getting the thing that you want the most <3 HAVE A HAPPY BDAY!!!
I think something fun to do is spend a day with your hubby and friend's and go around town to some of your favorites place's and find clues (like a scavenger hunt) to lead up to one big thing at the end of the day for example your hubby can go to your favorite places and leave one little goodie and at the end of the day after you find your last clue, there could be one big like bag or goodies of thing's.

I think you should personally treat yourself to a birthday getaway. Get out of town for a few days, perhaps with a few of your gal pals (if work permits it, anyway.) As for your cake, you should just have a huge red lipstick cake. I've actually seen one and it was really cute!
Oh, and for the days leading up to your birthday I think you should do everything opposite. Try things you've said you'd NEVER do, provided they're not a hazard to your health. It'll be a fun experience! :)

One of the things u can do to celebrate before ur bday...is have a girls night of doing makeovers on each other. That's what my girlfriends and I do when we have a girlsnight and take tons of pictures...then after jump in our pajamas and have a sleepover. It's fun to do even as an adult.

Give your husband some ideas of what you would like to do, maybe a roadtrip with a special destination, a visit to a special restaurant, a fun activity or a theme day based on your favourite movie or TV show. Let your husband do the work designing and planning all events of the day and you just go ahead and enjoy yourself and have fun! And be prepared to be blindfolded!

Learning something new each day before your birthday comes will give prove the saying "with age comes knowledge" even though you are cramming a whole lot of stuff before you age. =) You can learn a new language, a new recipe or a new hobby such as knitting, scrapbooking, etc. I think having this kind of a goal will help you acheive something useful and it will stay with you longer than material things. Or, you could say that this year, you are celebrating the 1 year anniversary of your 29th birthday. fun stuff to do: have a masseuse come to your home for an after work massage, spa day, go to a B&B for the weekend, have a catered gourmet meal at home, buy pretty flowers for your home. For my birthday I like to go old school with kiddie games like pin the tail on the donkey. I think you should try to challenge yourself in a fun way and come up with 1 different look each day ( make up or clothing or both)....try to use all your make up and just create. I think for your cake you should makeup it a big circle and labels it somethink like "MAC Pressed Powder" or "MAC Bronzing Powder" or make it a square and put the sort of designs that are on the holiday sets from MAC on it. I think that would be cool.
You could start with day one and try to just spend a dollar and each day add a dollar until you get to thirty in a way of challenging yourself to keep it to that cost. It could get fun!
every other day you should try to do something that you have never done. It can be something simple like trying a new store or eating at a new restaurant. Since that is every other day, on the other days you should do something beauty related, massage, facial, pedicure, haircut and color, hot stone treatment, vichi shower, or even schedule a consultation with a makeup counter and let them know it's your birthday, they might throw in some extra goodies. Just do something fun for you. And I think you should have ice-cream cake because no one says no to ice-cream.

you should make your cake look like your favorite hello kitty mac compact. take it to the cake shop and i bet they can it several layers with a square present on the bottom and a compact on the top. also the wrestling ring sounds awesome. I think you should take one of your days (of the 30 days) and create your own signature drink. and you could serve it at your party. that would be so fun! 30 was hard for me to swallow too, if i think of more ideas i will b sure to post

Way back for my 18th birthday, my friends "kidnapped" me for breakfast. This was just a group of my 8 closest friends. I think that you should go on a hot air balloon ride! That would be so fun, but maybe cold. I also think a facial, a pedicure and manicure. I often feel depressed on my Birthday because it is the anniversary of the death of my aunt and I am estranged from my family by choice (long story). To cheer me up, my fiancé often takes me out to gaze at the stars from the beach at midnight. It often works too, except my Birthday is very close to xmas so it's FREEZING! what i did for my recent birthday party was i did a spa-movie party! I rented out a whole theatre and watched new moon then i brought in people from the spa and they gave us foot spa and massages and pedicures and manicures! every one enjoyed! you can probably do it at home too instead of renting out a cinema like i did and ask contact some spa people! then i gave out bubba cakes (cakes made out of towels and spa treatments/items)

Hi Carol. I think you should have an old fashion girls' sleepover. When I turned 30, my girlfriends came over the night before my big birthday party. We had a sleepover. The kind like when you were a teenager. We rented a bunch of fun movies, had tons of food, did makeovers on each other, etc. It was fun.
I was like you, I didn't want to turn 30. But with this sleepover thing, we had a good time. And 30 didn't feel so bad. It was really fun!!

Well I think that you should embrace 30 because I hear that is when you really start to feel comfortable in your own skin. Also, since you live in FL, you should go to Disney on your birthday because you get in free and they give you a pin with your name on it saying its your birthday. I think you should personally treat yourself to a birthday getaway. Get out of town for a few days, perhaps with a few of your gal pals (if work permits it, anyway.) As for your cake, you should just have a huge red lipstick cake. I've actually seen one and it was really cute!
Oh, and for the days leading up to your birthday I think you should do everything opposite. Try things you've said you'd NEVER do, provided they're not a hazard to your health. It'll be a fun experience! :)

One of the things u can do to celebrate before ur bday...is have a girls night of doing makeovers on each other. That's what my girlfriends and I do when we have a girlsnight and take tons of pictures...then after jump in our pajamas and have a sleepover. It's fun to do even as an adult.
Your cake design? How about a shape of a tooth...or better yet...how about the shape of smile with red or pink lips with white teeth. The color of lipstick for makeup and the teeth for toothfairycarol. =)

I loved a birthday party I went to at a place called lucky strike- It's a bowling alley- but really fancy...They have waitresses that walk around with drinks & dj and awesome neon lanes- it sort of has a Rat Pack vibe. It was soo fun. If you have a cool place like that near you- lucky strike is in La- but I know they do have specialty bowling alleys everywhere :).

I have an idea for your birthday cake I think it would be the coolest thing if you did a cake that looked like it was a spread of different makeup products. Like a few palletes stacked up, with some lipsticks and such! like all spread out on a cake that acts like a table. Like a regular cake with a "scarf" made of frosting. with the compacts etc on top. Have a topsy turvy cake they are soo cute! To celebrate: sky dive, buy something you normally wouldnt buy like expensive fun shoes or something? Do something you havent done since you were little, go on a hot air balloon ride, get one of those giant blow up obstacle courses or moon bounce.

Years ago a friend of mine surprised me with a horse carriage ride since it was something I'd always wanted, and I definitely would love to see a cake that was a Sephora bag brimming with make-up goodies. For the day by day thing- pick a spot on the map not too far from where you are and just drive, make a day out of it. Eat out and do whatever that town (or city) has to offer!

For my birthday I like to go old school with kiddie games like pin the tail on the donkey. Sounds kinda dumb but if you have liquor around pinatas and stuff get extremely entertaining and worthy of photographic memories lol. Its nice to act like a kid again when you're trying to avoid the fact that you're a year older.

I think you should try to challenge yourself in a fun way and come up with 1 different look each day ( make up or clothing or both)....try to use all your make up and just create. You can also keep track of those as a countdown ...depending on how you feel each day. Nice memorie of your last days being 29.

every other day you should try to do something that you have never done. It can be something simple like trying a new store or eating at a new restaurant. Since that is every other day, on the other days you should do something beauty related, massage, facial, pedicure, haircut and color, hot stone treatment, vichi shower, or even schedule a consultation with a makeup counter and let them know it's your birthday, they might throw in some extra goodies. I think some of the things you should do everyday until your birthday is to have a movie night one night, get a massage or facial, manicure or pedicure, read a good book, watch a good movie, have your husband make you breakfast in bed, go out to dinner with a good friend, take a bubble bath, and do some of your other favorite activites.

They are painful, but very much worth it. However if you do this Carol, be sure to ask what kind of wax is used, you want the type that hardens and gets pulled off, YOU DO NOT want the type that uses strips. Good luck on this one.

hey, i reckon you could do something unusual like scuba-diving, sky-diving, bungee-jumping ; scary yes, but trust me you feel some much alive after that !! And if you do it like D-Day, you won't worry about turning 30 anymore!
otherwise, you can go to a book store and buy as many travel book as you want from every country you wanna go to , then everyday, sit down at a sunny terrasse and take a cofee reading a country at the time! kind of an escapade (is this english ?)

you should make your cake look like your favorite hello kitty mac compact. take it to the cake shop and i bet they can it several layers with a square present on the bottom and a compact on the top. also the wrestling ring sounds awesome. I think you should take one of your days (of the 30 days) and create your own signature drink. and you could serve it at your party. that would be so fun! 30 was hard for me to swallow too, if i think of more ideas i will b sure to post

Hi Carol! Every year I go to vegas for my birthday. I say if you cant get to vegas for your birthday have a vegas theme. Have Vegas come to you. Have different tables with different card games. As for cake maybe do 30 cupcakes or a cake in the shape of a mouth with a great smile (just like yours)

Way back for my 18th birthday, my friends "kidnapped" me for breakfast. This was just a group of my 8 closest friends. We then went to a friend's to hang out and watch The Care Bear Movie (a movie of my choice lol), went to the zoo (also my choice) and that night there was a huge party with all my friends for me. It rocked.
The whole time should be about where you've been and where you're going. rooms w/ diff things you like. a room for each decade. Childhood with fav things from then, etc

30 is YOUNG, don't stress over it! I think a cool idea for your birthday is to make the theme of the party the year you were born. So for for example 1979, you make it disco theme. Play the music that was popular then, play the song that was #1 the day you were born, wear 70s style clothing, makeup, decorations etc.

first of all u look young for becomin 30. what i like to do for my bday. is make it all about me. take time to pamper yourself such as spa nails etc. but i also like to do somethng new to mysefl whether it be a new hair do or a new style i havent tried. also trying somethng (or buyin) new that u never have. w/ ea yr passin i thnk u should cross somethng off ur lifes to-do list ! i look at it like new yrs. as for ur cake....maybe some kinda makeup and jewelry decor around or some like that.
