Walter Mondale: "Both President Reagan & myself have said we have a plan for raising taxes. The only difference is he won't tell you he will raise taxes, I just did".
Not a statement to make if you want to win the American people over, Mr. Mondale! It is because of the content stated by Ronald Reagan in both debates the reason why he cleaned Mondale's clock in the general election two weeks after the final debate here! Mondale only won D.C. & his home state of Minnesota. R.I.P., Ronnie.
@berkelandmccarrell I'm a democrat and I hate Castro and Che. I think the admiration towards them is misguided idealism. The idea of the people taking control. Yet Castro and Guevara were monsters.
@BamaChris dark circles or bags under eyes — mild swelling or puffiness under the eyes — are common as you age. With aging, the tissues around your eyes, including some of the muscles supporting your eyelids, weaken. Normal fat that helps support the eyes can then migrate forward into the lower eyelids, causing the lids to appear puffy. Fluid also may accumulate in the space below your eyes, adding to a swollen appearance. :-D think before you post please :-D
33:00 mark was the best part! "I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent's youth and inexperience." I saw that with my girlfriend at the time (now former wife, happily I am remarried) who was hoping Mondale would win and told her after that remark, "SLAM DUNK! GAME OVER!"
Before you thumb-down my post, I want to admit that I am a strong Reagan supporter and I'm not glorifying Mondale in any way. I say it objectively that this debate didn't go to well for Reagan.
He spent most of the debate being attacked by Mondale and the journalists and was unable to refute several their fallacious claims.
His closing statement exceeded the time limit and was ended prematurely mainly because of his long anecdote which could have been shortened.
When Reagan attacked the age issue, I lloked at my girlfriend at the time (now former wife). She was 100% in MOndale's corner and convinced Mondale would win! After Reagan's age remark, I looked at her and said, "SLAM DUNK! GAME OVER!" And it was!
Now we need to join the ROMNEY REVOLUTION and remind people NOBAMA has 1,232 DAYS TO GO!
@vccstudents I hate to break your heart but there is a very good chance that President Obama may win re-election. It all depends on the economy and that 9.1% unemployment rate. If it starts to go down as economists are forecasting in early 2012, Obama will probably win and that's because many people like Mr.Obama as a PERSON. He actually has around 70% approval rating as a person. Remember Reagan was reelected with extremely high unemployment and about a 39% approval rating.
I grew up during President Reagan's term and I recall how comfortable he mad me feel. He was a strong leader and a good man. When he talks about foreign policy I think "Wow how nice to have an actual adult in charge"
I couldn't agree more! I was a little over 3 years old when Reagan was first inaugurated, so he was my "First President". Ever since he left office no one has "looked the part" as president. Reagan will always be the quintessential president to me... A REAL President!
@CHRISTISLORD77 I agree. I was almost 2 when he took office and everything you said I highly agree with. To me, it's been downhill since he left office. No other president so far since has had what Reagan had.
If Reagan was our president today, that idiot in North Korea wouldn't be threatening us, because we'd have Reagan to say to him "You really wanna mess with us?"
"I am not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience" Hahaha! Reagan God Bless You!!! You always gonna be THE BEST!

Wow - sympathy for illegal immigrants, desire for peace, support for arms control...I'm not sure Reagan would survive in today's GOP

@collingsm Sympathy for illegal immigrants, yes, but not a full-scale invasion like we have today.

Can't we have more democrats like this that call Che Guevara shameful? Our current democrat admires Castro and Che. It's disgusting.
