a skimmer is a think that you put in an aquarium or pond that contains fish that "skims" the protien from the surface of the water. without a skimmer it can sometimes build up and create nasty slimey foam on the top of the water

That skimmer is on a reef tank. Not a fish only.

it is used for fish tanks. And rather big ones. And more than sure is used for salty water as proteins can not stick properly to normal water. Salty water makes air bubles much smaller therefore the air particles are more and their surface is bigger. Just like filtering with sand instead of big rocks. Got the idea?

And yeah. It costs a fortune. Sell your car and buy one of that :-(
