  • maybe retiring means he has nothing to lose so he'll go all out

  • If it's relevant that Dorgan has energy interests in his district, then surely it must be important to mention how many of the players of the crimes on Wall Street live in and have coroporate headquarters in Dodd's district . Their well healed bribers, I mean "lobbyists" have heavy access to Dodd's ear. I'm glad he's going. One less ridiculous hairpeice to have to watch on a poser politician.

  • you can fact check me but I'm pretty sure the climate has actually gone up 1 degree in the last 10 years..

  • you do realize that there is a difference between weather and climate right?

  • he must be a right winger.. knowledge doesn't penetrate their brains

  • did he say ralph nader might run for conneticut?

  • Peter Schiff is running as a Republican for Dodd's seat.

If you're in CT consider Schiff for real fiscal responsibility.

  • too bad schultz cant run. he lives in minnesota and you have to live in s. dakota for 2 years before running.

  • They do need more reform so these guys can't become lobbyists, their wives can't be lobbyists, and their children can't be lobbyists - AT A MINIMUM.

  • @DillonX

"They do need more reform so these guys can't become lobbyists..."

    Good point.

I actually think whole lobbying practice should be regulated, heavily.

Nothing should come above the people's voting power.

  • Cenk get a clue , Dood it's been in wallstreet's pockets for ages, the only good thing is that asshole is leaving congress.

  • i never like ether of them. we need new blood.

  • I wonder who Dobb and Dorgan will be lobbying for when their time limit is up?

  • Maybe Lamont could be the Dem candidate this time for Connecticut. We need to get rid of "moderate" dems and replace them with true progressives.

  • Dodd would have been a pinata for the GOP in election

  • Dorgan wasn't a bad guy...

...but Dodd was a bank-sucking Douche.

  • Two more unethical, corrupt democratic senators down, many more to go! They never had any chance of re-election anyway, like most democrats this November! It's good to hear that the ethics charges against Dodd are still pending even with his cowardly retreat from the run for his senatorial seat.

  • Good! Dems are very nearly as bad as GOP. Let it go to hell. That's the only way people are going to wake up and take back their gov't. Obama is just as bad as bush on major issues. most Dems are corporate shills same as GOP. Nothing is gonna change until it collapses in bankruptcy.

  • In regards to Dodd, good riddance to a lousy senator.

  • Ed Schultz? Is that the guy from the Ed show on MSNBC? Excuse my ignorance. But that'd be great.

  • Imagine that, Dem Senators running for the exit in the middle of a Senatorial supermajority and Democrat President. BushChenay - Obama is a one-two punch which should make it crystal clear that both sides are exactly the same and are out to screw you over and lie to your face.

  • Two pieces of shit leave, 2 more will probably enter, unless Schiff wins.

  • you know sometimes i think we should let the radicals have there way and see how long before out time runs out

  • We did let radicals have their way. For 8 years they had their way. Look where we are now.

Who's to blame according to them? Obama of course.

If we let them have their way, they would continue to make things worse until it was no longer possible to do so, and even at the end they would be pointing fingers at liberals and playing the blame game.

They are like children, incapable of taking responsibility for their actions, and lacking the intelligence to see the damage their lies cause.

  • I wonder what bank they will go to work for?

  • finally, a TYT thread not being trolled by angry Australians haha... just kidding Aussies, I love you guys, well, some of you are jerks, but so are we, so live and learn

  • It seems, campaign finance reform needs to become the most important issue in the next election.

If a candidate runs on that platform, he'll be a, congressional, shoe-in.

  • the point is that we elect democrats to replace them

  • Democrats and Republicans are just two cheeks of the same ass... who cares.

  • The world does. If the US can't run itself then it'll have to be run by others.

  • Peter Schiff!

  • chriss dodd did such a fine job overseeing fannie and freedie

  • fuck chriss dodd, peter schiff for the win!!

  • how the fuck is someone who has two good things on his record and alot of bad things there a "moderate"?

what you meant is he's a sell-out some of the time.

  • Peter Schiff will win in CT 2010 !

  • All I've heard since January 20, 2001 is bad news and it just get WORSE AND WORSE.

Bush made is worse, 2nd term Bush made worser, Obama made it even more worse than before.

The days of any Good News is LONG OVER.

  • PETER SCHIFF!

  • Phuck seniority, the Senate has too much power. No other Democracy on Earth is set up like this. 3 or 4 guys in the senate can shut down government it has to end.

  • We need "donation reform" as I'm now calling it. No congressman or senator should be able to take any donations PERSONALLY. He/she can take up to $5000 from any company or person in total per year for his/her campaign.

This should greatly reduce bribes/lobbyists/corruption. Any politician who truly believes in America won't be bothered by this.

  • "He/she can take up to $5000 from any company or person in total per year for his/her campaign."

Right, so they get the rest from taxpayer money.

  • there is no left or right. wake up, you drooling, idiots.

  • That's exactly why they won't let you drive.

  • drive a dick up your ass, wimp.

  • Your universal answer for every problem, you narrow minded drooling fuckhead.

  • what problem? i'm narrow minded, how? wtf are you talking about?

  • TALK ABOUT PETE CENK!

  • @RAMKING61 Read some Science Journals. (PNAS, Nature, Science, etc.)

  • I'm an investor/Geology major.

As an investor, I have to know what is REALLY going on in order to make money. Goldman Sachs is behind the entire 'Cap & Trade'/global warming scheme. I suggest you read up on sun spots, solar radiation, and solar flares.

By the way, we will be setting historic cold records in Houston tonight.

  • You're geology degree surely makes you an expert on climate change [/sarcasm]

  • "By the way, we will be setting historic cold records in Houston tonight. "

OMGZ! Proof that global warming is a scam! You better go national with this!

  • Hai it's cold outside, WHERES YOUR LIBERAL GLOBAL WARMING NOW?

aH swear, you peeple are so igniant it aint even funny anymore

    PALIN / STEELE 2012!

    /sarcasm

  • The greed of a few is not a reason to deny global warming. There's no doubt in my mind that this carbon tax is not a solution and stems from greed, just as biofuels aren't a solution and stem from greed. Don't believe me? Check out "The future of food" on hulu and see who'll profit from biofuels lol.

As for solar activity's influence on our climate, what do you want me to debunk? I've pretty much read it all, and I'm prepared to help cure your ignorance, just tell me what you want to know.

  • By the way, Australia just came out of their warmest decade on record.

A cold snap in the US from Arctic air streams does not debunk global warming. It only shows extreme variations in weather.

As a geologist major, you should know the difference between weather and climate.

  • where'd your original post go?

  • Hey Bobbytiger, I guess you are happy that your party might have a chance to finish the desaster they started with Dubya. And as a conservative maybe you could answer a question I have had from a long time now that no conservative will even attempt to answer. What is a conservative value? - I can't find a single one

  • Let me say it this way: Liberals, (err...."progressives"), are for; government controlling your life redistribution of ones money bigger government more entitlements higher taxes killing unborn children pro gay "marriages" marginal military demand side economics & on.......and on. Conservatives aren't.
  • Hmm, let's see... check, check, check, check. Guess you're right. Good job! You got us.

  • conservatives are for:

    corporations controlling your life

redistribution of one's money to said corporations

a government without any checks and balances

    more entitlements for the wealthy

higher taxes (they just won't admit it publicly)

    killing born children

    pro opposite marriage, er divorce

    unnecessary wars

    free markets (aka unfair trade)

  • Democrats are the 'good cop' to Repubs 'bad cop.' It's the oldest game there is. But look what Dems do when it really comes down to it. No Public Option, no Medicare buy-in, no imported cheaper drugs. They're exactly the same, the differences are only cosmetic. Third party, fourth party, whatever is the answer, I guess.

  • Joe Lieberman.

  • Yeah, you know, Obama would love the sheeple to blame it on Lieberman, but 'ol Joe essentially did Barry's bidding. It's an absurd joke.

  • Why did Lieberman contradict himself so much? He wanted to stand in the way of reform, and Obama wanted it to go through, so how did ol' Joe do Barry's bidding?

"Hey Joe, I want you to push for something now, and in a few months when you get it, I want you to not want it and come up with other reasons to derail progress. In the end, people like you will bastardize the bill beyond it's initial intent, and another piece to my evil plan will fall into place! MUAHAHAHA"

  • Obama wanted reform to go through? Please give me the coordinates of the alternate univerise in which you live, my bags are packed and Scotty will energize the transporter on my command.

  • Obama didn't force this current version of "reform" simply to pass any kind of "reform" he can?

Please tell me what horrible event happened in your life that made you such a dick.

  • No, the president's job isn't to force. It's to take the opportunity, when it arises, to try to make sure real reform happens, like he babbled about on the campaign trail, instead of hiding under his desk and blaming it on fucking Joe Lieberman. Nevermind the fact that his public statements already revealed the fact that he could care less about real 'change.'

  • Welcome to US politics, where the president does a lot that isn't his job.

History books will remember him as someone more glorious than he actually is. He knows if he can pass something and call it reform, THAT'S what will be remembered. It won't be remembered how horrible the final bill was, it'll just be remembered that our FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT battled the big bad healthcare companies lol.

it's all such a joke i dont even feel like talking about it anymore

    peace

  • Total garbage. They have a s-u-p-e-r-m-a-j-o-i-t-y. Obama is a lying scumbag who has THE most insanely perfect opportunity for REAL reform, but choses instead to give those who voted for him the middle finger. It's a JOKE, he isn't 'battling' anything. Maybe he's battling a guilty conscience for being such a fucking liar. Yeah, right.

  • So Obama can force all the democrats to vote how HE wants?

Democrats consist of many various kinds of people with various ideas on things. The reason democrats couldn't collectively pass something is because they aren't a hive mind like the republicans are.

I suppose the hive mind mentality of republicans would be an admirable trait right about now, if their hive mind mentality wasn't so absolutely and fundamentally wrong on so many issues.

Again, don't feel like talking about it anymore

  • No, he should use his his fucking weight as POTUS to assist in getting the agenda WE voted for PASSED. Why the fuck did you vote for a PRESIDENT? You seem to think he wields no real power to get anything HE CAMPAIGNED ON done. Wake up, Obama is a liar. How do you think Bush and Cheney got shit passed? You think they just chewed gum in their offices all day? They didn't have close to the insane majority the Dems have, and they got EVERYTHING they wanted. Obama is a sellout.

  • Are you even reading my comments or do you think if you keep posting dumb shit, you'll win whatever argument this is?

The reason Bush and Cheney got everything done is because of that hive mind mentality of the republican party I just spoke about.

Obama can't force congress to do something if they don't have the votes. He has the power to veto what comes onto his desk, but he can't fire people for not voting the way he wants.

    I agree, he's a liar, but I expected that from a politician.

  • Yes, I'm reading that you think the only way a President can get anything done is to 'force' members of Congress to bend to his will. The President does and should have power and influence to get an agenda passed, especially with a HUGE congressional majority, which means THE VOTERS WANT HIM TO GET IT PASSED.... Use your brain...

  • You tell my brain but you're not facing fucking reality: The democratic party isn't a collective consciousness. Their 60 vote majority doesn't mean shit when you look at the wide variation of opinion in the democratic party. If the republicans had a 60 vote majority, they would collectively force things through just as they collectively vote no.I know there are ways for a President to get things done, but the reality is, the things Obama wants done won't happen, and this HC debacle is evidence

  • lol you tell me my brain. ugh. You tell me TO USE my brain* :D

Ok seriously, what are we even talking about anymore? You seem to be surprised that Obama isn't fighting tooth and nail for things that are important. How is he any different than past presidents?

You're not dumb, I can tell, so I don't believe that you expected a lot from Obama.

  • The SIXTY vote majority

  • The SIXTY VOTE MAJORITY means EVERYTHING. A Democrat President with an insane majority and public opinion backing them up. The ONLY way an Obama administration does not get a Public Option, Medicare Buy-in or imported drugs done, is if they DO NOT WANT IT.

  • You're perception of reality is sophomoric.

  • Reality is that Barry was handed THE most perfect chance for real reform and he didn't lift a fucking finger, because he is a sellout. Any competent President in this position would get it done. If they wanted it done. He'd be a sellout with a 51 vote majority as well.

  • @Asymmatrix did you think Obama was gonna be a good president?

    Jeez man.

  • Nice 180. I rest my case.

  • Now you've revealed yourself to be an idiot. I have NEVER said he was going to be a good president or is one. So how is that a 180?

I said Obama didn't necessarily WANT the healthcare bill to exclude the things we speak of. He was good either way so long as something called "reform" went through. He's a typical politician, get over it.

Falling for the hope and change bs doesn't give you the right to now conjure up factless rhetoric against him. I expected less from him actually lol.

  • Right, youve been defending Barry selling us out for 5 hours because you're not defending him. 'The end.'

  • Everyone, take note from what we're seeing in Asymmatrix. He fell for the hope and change bullshit, and now that he's finally realizing that Obama is a POLITICIAN and not God's gift to the US. I wonder how many idiots are waking up like this.

Take everything a politician says with a grain of salt dude. What's nice about avoiding lala land is you're never disappointed. I fully expected this sort of behavior from Obama, and my putting reality into perspective for you is no way defending him.

  • THAT SAID, McCain would have been far worse. McCain would have eliminated regulation that protects consumers in favor of big business.

I know it's disappointing to hear Obama talk about a public option so passionately only for him to not deliver, but he's definitely not the first to do such a thing.

Just grow up man. This is why it's important to vote in the primaries. Right now the primaries are a popularity contest, and we end up with horrible options come election day.

  • Lol@ McCain would have been worse. You go vote in those primaries, genius. Vote out the Dems, vote in the Repubs. LOL. Wait, I know, vote in a Repub supermajority. No, wait.. wait.. vote in a Dem superDUPERmajority. That'll get things done. Barry is already lining up the pillow on the chair in the Oval Office.

  • Your responses have become sarcastic, factless fluff meant only to drag out an already idiotic and pointless argument. Since you have nothing to add other than your angst over losing whatever debate this was, I'll be moving on.

If you had any sense, you'd take a lesson from what you've learned here.

  • Ok, I won't be sarcastic. Shove your idiotic bullshit up your fat ass.

  • commander and chief? no-

    fed stooge one-liar and thief.

  • As a Conservative, what would you say is the biggest accomplishment of the GOP in the last 20 years?

  • Is the brainwashing of millions and blatant pandering of misinformation through fox news an accomplishment?

  • Dodd has a great radio voice. Am I the only one that hears it?

  • well looks like Linda McMahon got a shoe in

  • this is not retirement. the rats are exiting the ship. all of these people "retiring" seems odd especially at a time of economic turmoil. seems a nice cush government job with healthcare would be where you want to be.

  • Peter Schiff Baby!!!

  • they dont wanna be a part of whats to come

  • What Nelson did should rightfully be called extortion.

  • "...after 35 years..." - good - don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

If we ever get a congressional delegation with some balls, any reform effort will include legislation that bars this kind of "cashing in" after leaving office. It is corruption, pure and simple.

  • @l0gically

    agreed, good riddance.

  • This is just more bad news on top of what's going to go down after a few more months of business failures, personal bankruptcies and forclosures. The rich get richer, the rest of us get the shaft.

  • Cenk!! Here's an idea! Ed Shultz runs and wins the ND Senate seat, and you and TYT take over his slot on MSNBC!!!

  • @skdnow

ya and then make a million compromises with msnbc and have a horrible show! stay on the free, unregulated net.

  • Oh! The Young Turks will become just like the folks they criticize on the mainstream media over time. Happens to the best of them. When you are small, you dont crave access and then with success - access, schmoozing with the big wigs and finally coming around to their point of view. I mean how liberal can MSNBC really be - They are owned by GE for cryin out loud.

  • exactly.

whats this obsession with TV. As if its some pinnacle of information. TV is controlled info. internet is the future. why would he want to go to a medium of the past. its like asking him to get off cameras and go and write everything he talks about in newspapers.

  • Dodd is a fucking shithead, Dorgan was awesome, shame he's going.

  • Cenk...did you start crying at the end?

  • I'm from CT and dislike Dodd. I'm glad he will be retiring.

  • Dont know about being a statesman or politician but she is milfy.

  • Yes! Peter Schiff is practically a shoo-in for CT Senator. I heard there's some new guy replacing Dodd as the Democratic candidate, but he's probably pretty unknown, and Schiff's gotten plenty of good airtime by now, esp. on Fox, so a lot of people have to know about him. I just wish the media would pay more attention. After all, he IS trying to get the Republican nomination here.

We need a Ron Paul in the Senate. Schiff and Rand Paul are 2 excellent choices for that.

  • YES WE NEED PETE

  • TALK ABOUT PETER SCHIFF CENK !

  • God said He'll retire?! FINALLY!

  • I love how Cenk didn't even mention Peter Schiff. He is obviously the best choice for senator. But because hes running as a republican he gets no love. That is such bullshit Cenk!

  • Ed Schulz!?! BBBAAHHHAHAHAHA!!!

  • That was smart of Dodd to retire because he knew he was going to lose in 2010, but Dorgan that came out of nowhere. I think with Dood replacement they have a popular state Democrat representative. All I can say is that they better get a conservative because North Dakota is pretty conservative even though Kent Conrad is a Democrat but he is conservative.

  • The Democrats in CT have the very popular Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who's been in that office since 1990. With Dodd's reitrement and Blumenthal's entrance into the race, Rob Simmons (former CT congressman), Linda McMahon (CEO of the WWE/Vince McMahon's wife), and Peter Schiff (the Republican candidates) are basically done.

  • this kind of analysis is why i watch tyt

  • Cenk!!!!

  • Chris Dodd? Wow, good riddance. He's just another back stabbing sneak. I wonder what evil he's up to next.

    Oh, a lobbyist, probably right.

  • ツ

  • @ChristinaWatkinson what does that mean?

  • it doesn't mean anything. it's part of japanese katakana writing system, which is for foreign words like English.

If you were to write the English word "cats" in Japanese katakana, you would use ツ

    カツ

    "ka-tsu" - cats

i can't believe i just explained that but i had fun lol

  • @ChristinaWatkinson oh i see ha ha - you are being clever ha ha - imagine you go to the shrink and they say 'what do you see in this image' ha ha - i dread to think! i use it cos it looks like a smile - but you know that - you are just being clever right?
