Appropriation of money for the military is done on an annual basis with each year's budget. If you're thinking about contracts between the Army (or other) and a defense contractor that span more than two years, then remember that a contract isn't an appropriation of money. If Congress doesn't give the Army the money for the contract one year, it doesn't get paid. It can, and occasionally does happen, much to the chagrin of the contractor.

I could not agree with you more that our current system has gotten out of control. Oligopolies do exist (Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart) and they certainly are in bed with politicians. But the answer is not nationalizing the workforce - it's competition. In order to achieve high levels of competition, you need more free market.
I agree with high competition in a free market, but how do we do that when pure capitalism results in corporations that not only control the consumer but also the political world as well. I'm not saying give all power to the government, I'm advocating for a government that is a servant of the average person. Right now I don't think our government represents that, it seems to represent the interests of the industries that allow such politicians to live in luxury, and get nothing done.

They neglect people because of the high amounts of government activity in the first place. I also don't think people should have to work like dogs, but socializing anything only exacerbates the problem. Certainly being paid and adequate sum should be attainable, but really the best way to do this is to increase national stock (i.e. start producing). Minimum Wage only creates structural unemployment - exacerbating the problem.
I agree that the government is nearly completely ineffective and extremely inefficient but we could use them when it comes to regulating corporations that have far too much power and wealth. The insurance companies should not be allowed to dictate who receives care, nor what sort of care is eligible for patients. I could site other examples but I think you get my point. If the government was an actual representative of the everyday American than we wouldn't have these problems.
Even if the government was all-benevolent, it still would have problems. Democracy runs on majority rule - that does not mean that the majority is always correct. As a previous poster stated, there is no one-size-fits-all plan. A system is best run with the individuals in mind, not a collective group.
Look, giving the government all the power doesn't solve anything. One thing, above all else, power needs to be limited - everywhere. The best way to do this is to have high levels of competition.

Not only does it have Universal Healthcare but it also has one of the highest standards of living in the world. It also has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. Appropriation of money for the military is done on an annual basis with each year's budget. If you're thinking about contracts between the Army (or other) and a defense contractor that span more than two years, then remember that a contract isn't an appropriation of money. If Congress doesn't give the Army the money for the contract one year, it doesn't get paid. It can, and occasionally does happen, much to the chagrin of the contractor.

1) coin money (which it doesn't even do that since the federal reserve is privatly owned.) thats right! all the nations wealth and currancy is controlled by a handfull of private individuals at the very top seprate from the government.
2) declare/go to war/support an army
3) protect the right to life/liberty/and pursuit of happiness
4) tax (as long as its uniform in all 50 states and distributed evenly)

I could not agree with you more that our current system has gotten out of control. Oligopolies do exist (Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart) and they certainly are in bed with politicians. But the answer is not nationalizing the workforce - it's competition. In order to achieve high levels of competition, you need more free market.

I'm not saying give all power to the government, I'm advocating for a government that is a servant of the average person. Right now I don't think our government represents that, it seems to represent the interests of the industries that allow such politicians to live in luxury, and get nothing done.

If you love living in a country that disregards about half their population that's fine with me. I just don't think people should have to work like dogs their entire life simply to keep their head above water. The least we could do is make sure people are paid an adequate sum and don't have to worry about healthcare. The minimum wage hasn't been raised since the 70's.7.25(which is often higher than what people are actually paid)is not enough to support a family. I'm simply advocating compassion

I also don't think people should have to work like dogs, but socializing anything only exacerbates the problem. Certainly being paid and adequate sum should be attainable, but really the best way to do this is to increase national stock (i.e. start producing). Minimum Wage only creates structural unemployment - exacerbating the problem.

I agree that the government is nearly completely ineffective and extremely inefficient but we could use them when it comes to regulating corporations that have far too much power and wealth. The insurance companies should not be allowed to dictate who receives care, nor what sort of care is eligible for patients. I could site other examples but I think you get my point. If the government was an actual representative of the everyday American than we wouldn't have these problems.

Even if the government was all-benevolent, it still would have problems. Democracy runs on majority rule - that does not mean that the majority is always correct. As a previous poster stated, there is no one-size-fits-all plan. A system is best run with the individuals in mind, not a collective group.
Look, giving the government all the power doesn't solve anything. One thing, above all else, power needs to be limited - everywhere. The best way to do this is to have high levels of competition.

1st of all, how is the President going to ruin this country, he does not have supreme power. Second, if the goverment forced you to do something, it wouldn't be called socailist.
Third, if someone you care about gets a huge hospital bill, would you help them pay it? Would you help out a homeless stranger with a penny? Gee, if every one in the USA helped one homeless with one penny each, that homeless would be a multi-millionaire.

2nd, In an economy were Jobless claims are surging to more than 600,000, how is a homeless going to get a job? And why wouldn't you donate a penny?

I would help pay for your bill my friend. And then you could help pay for mine when I needed help, then we would both be happy. I wish the US just had socialized healthcare, then I wouldn't mind living here...well then again I prefer the architecture, cities, and parks of Europe so maybe I will move lol. I think help (compassion for fellow human beings) is the key word to socialism.(Germany, France, and Denmark's systems are all a huge improvement to the US's).

Ignorant? no I don't think so. If you think socialized healthcare is really so terrible then do a little research on Denmark. Not only does it have Universal Healthcare but it also has one of the highest standards of living in the world. It also has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. It citizens may pay high taxes, but in exchange they live in a beautiful country where there needs are met, not denied because the pharmaceutical industry only cares about profit.

I love how you present such a clear an concise argument, supported by irrefutable facts and solid evidence. You've neither presented you're opinion (beyond insulting me), nor have you told me why Universal Healthcare would be so detrimental to our society. And I'm not a slave to the Liberal media, I go by hard information that transcends the petty disputes between "liberals" and "conservatives". I also have some experience as my sister is living in Denmark, and I know several people there.

You know I've trying to be polite despite your annoying remarks. I only wanted to know why you think Universal Healthcare and equal taxes (a percentage tax) are so evil. Oh, and I will be taking my classes next year (as a junior in high school) full time at the University of Minnesota so does count as "accomplishing something other than graduating from grade school"? And who uses the word punk anymore, what are from the 60's or something? I'm not a punk, and you could at least be civil.

I've seen plenty of dumb naive people graduate college and there's plenty of geniuses who haven't completed high school so ... not sure what you're trying to prove there. There's a huge difference between college and University. About anyone, as you said, can graduate from college, it is much more difficult to graduate with a liberal arts degree, let alone start when your only half way through highschool. Oh and for the love of god would one of you just answer my question? I'm not screaming for socialism, I just want Universal Healthcare, seeing as all other developed, modern nations have it and it hasn't destroyed there countries.
