When i played the game, i found out that when you play with two players at the same time, the second player gets firs bonus life normal but he gets next after just one hundred points. So i have got infinite lives and finished the game. It happened that the counter for lives starts to count from 1 when he reached certain level.
Don't know what version i played, but since i was just a kid i was happy i could see all the levels. :)
Ah...Fond memories! This was the first game I ever worked on back when I was with Ocean/Imagine. I still remember creating those backgrounds, and animating the sprites. Martin's "office" was just feet way. I still can't get his Short Circuit theme out of my head. :) The "real" A r k a n o i d machine was also just feet from me. I played the thing for hours and videotaped the whole thing for reference. :) Mark Jones w. w. w. m j o n e s g r a p h i c s . c o m
@mjonesgraphics - This is my favorite home version of Arkanoid (I never played the NES version). The Amiga version might LOOK arcade perfect, but the mouse is a poor substitute for paddles. I don't care how much propaganda I read to the contrary. In fact, I'd like to punch the idiot who decided to omit paddle support in Arkanoid II in favor of adding a mouse option!
i cant belive this... played this soooo long ago back when i was 4-5 yrs old. im 20 now and i remember it like it was yesterday. especialy that last boss round
On the final screen, if one purposely dies before the face is destroyed, the face resets, and one can wrack up more points with each remaining paddle.
In my opion, this was the best home version of Arkanoid. The Amiga version had slightly better graphics, but forced you to play with the mouse. I don't care how much propaganda you feed me, I'll never accept that a mouse is a good controller for Breakout games.
The NES and possibly the Atari 8-bit versions(?) also used a paddle controller, but the C64 version looked and sounded better.
Oh man you are a superplayer. I had big problmes with this game.
