@LastODSTStanding That was probably still Italian. Spanish and Italian have their similarities. I know Spanish and I understand parts of the conversation here.
LOL. I think Colonel Landa is accusing Americans for having bland accents. Cause he already knows they're not Italians 1:17 This scene is just too good... 8D
@p4olom4n4 because we cannot change suddenly the language of the film (italian version)!so if the version is italian, film are used to use people with fake sicilian accent, if they couldn't find good sicilian actors!on the contrary, it would be maybe more difficult to make brad pitt talk in sicilian instead of in italian!
@alefsk1 I think it's different ... the image of Italians conforms with that of the Sicilians ... when movies are translated into Italian voice actors ... often changed all the text ... to give to the Sicilians the attitudes and stereotypes in the U.S. are attributed to the Italians.
@p4olom4n4 dopo qualche mese a londra ho imparato anche a riconoscere l'inglese italianizzato, con te mi era venuto qualche dubbio all'inizio, confermato poi dal tuo profilo su youtube!tranquillo c'è di molto peggio!!!
Could some Italian write down for me the whole "Italian scene" spelling ? I want to learn it by heart as it goes, but can find proper italian spelling nowhere. I'd be really greatful for that.
@c1m47h3l oh i can do that if you want, i'm italian :)
"Signori, questo è un vecchio amico mio, il colonnello Hans Landa delle SS" "Buongiorno" "Signori, è un piacere... Gli amici della vedetta ammirata da tutti noi, questa gemma propria della nostra cultura, saranno naturalmente accolti sotto la mia protezione per tutta la durata del loro soggiorno" "...Grazie" "Gorlomi? "Lasciatemi vedere i vostri biglietti:0023, 0024, non sarà troppo difficile di trovare (awwwkward italian) Arrivederci!" "Arrivederci"
@shourisaikou You said (awwwkward Italian) maybe is asking for too much, dont want to bother... would you be able to let us know the proper way? or just let us know what is incorrect? please...if you dont mind. if you can not, im sorry and its ok :) thanks again.
@007Hunkguy you're very welcome Jesse :) mh, let's see: in the sentence "non sarà difficile di trovare" the proposition " di " is actually not necessary. the proper way to say "it shouldn't be hard to find them" is "non sarà difficile trovarLI" (trovar[e] = to find ; -li = them). This is actually a very common mistake for non-italian speakers, i don't know why though :)
Landa calls Bridget "vedetta": i assume it's a literal translation of the french word "vedette", that stands for "star", or
At the beginning Bridget says "...è un vecchio amico mio": this is a very common way to say "a friend of mine" in italian (i mean, we say that all the time), but the proper way to say it should be "è un mio vecchio amico" (possessive adj + adj + noun). Spero ti sia d'aiuto ;))
@Astromash123 i'm italian.... in the italian version i didn't understand because the whole scene is in italian.... so for us this is a normal scene.... not so funny.only in original language we can appreciate it :)
@1992marcog and whats more, italian version tranlsation is kinda different, for example they dont say "arrivederci" but "baciamo le mani", dont know why

@redhotcpp Nah your English is fine... but I dont know why people would think that about Spanish speakers, I think all languages besides English are awesome and not boring haha
@dsciaab12360 Yes, it normally goes like this: Italians can't understand Spanish but Spaniards can understand Italian. Spanish can't understand Portuguese but Portuguese can understand Spanish, and Portuguese can't understand French but French can understand Portuguese.
@trapazza That's interesting.... is that because of the tones of the different languages? Like I can see why Italians would have a harder time understanding Spanish speakers because I know a lot of them speak really fast.

To be fair, Waltz has admitted in interviews he doesn't actually speak Italian and was taught how to do a faux accent with the Italian lines that he memorized.
However, we cannot forget he actually does speak English, French, and German. Impressive.

To be fair, Waltz has admitted in interviews he doesn't actually speak Italian and was taught how to do a faux accent with the Italian lines that he memorized.
However, we cannot forget he actually does speak English, French, and German. Impressive.
