omg my school choir is doing a version of this song... but its way shorter than this... the verses in this order start with: "Fare you well my dear i must be gone", "so fare thou art my bonny lad", and "the sea will never run dry my dear".
that is the only verses and at the end it has a few "fare you well my dear"s and then at the very end, 2 " farewell"s
and sorry to be so rambly, i just think you sung that song so very beautifully.
this is going to make me sound like a big jerk... i hate how these two people sing this song. now dont get me wrong this song is beautiful but i think that my choir sings it better. this song did make me cry the first time i ever listened to it too
ik this may same a little lame but this accualy made me cry. i am doing this for a competition and i have looked at a couple different videos but this is my absolute favorite. 9.999/10 and you couldnt have picked a better couple for this song
ik this may same a little lame but this accualy made me cry. i am doing this for a competition and i have looked at a couple different videos but this is my absolute favorite. 9.999/10
both the girl and the boy can sing and are beautiful. beautiful song, beautiful voices, and beautiful appearances. very nice. amazing video. great song to sing in chours or to you loved once:)
c la meilleur chose que j'ai entendue ça fait vraiment longtemps. j'adore la voix masculine surtout où il chante, ‹‹ So fair thou art ›› pa tati pa tata.
I think this song does not need to be slower. This is a completely different version altogether (note it even has some new lyrics that weren't in the choir version). Also one should not that this song is a duet between two people, so I think that the speed is a unique aspect to this particular version, while keeping the same feel of the choir version. Its like comparing granny smith apples to a cortland apple. Even though the same fruit its still a different style.
I have sang this song before also, like many of the other people who have commented, but this may easily be one of my favorite versions I have heard. The lady has a great voice and the harmonies are so cool. I can sort of tell that perhaps the two singers are in love. These two people need to sing on forever. "If Music be the food of love sing on"
i loved it...the last verse is"oh yonder doth sit a little turtle dove, he sits in yonder high tree. a making a moan for the loss of his love as i will do for my dear, as i will do for thee."
Your harmony is beautiful and the blend and intonation is almost perfect. I know this song, so I can tell what the words are, even though i sang a different version. But at 1:24 I think Jak ran out of air and got a little flat. Also at 2:14 it got harder hear GRL because the music swelled a bit louder than the voices, though I could still hear Jak fine. Maybe the distance from the microphone? Anyway, the rest of the song was pretty much perfect and the ending was beautiful. Nice job!
this is a very interesting arrangment. my choir did a SATB acap version of it. You both have dipthongs eerywhere that come from trying to make it sound like it belongs on the radio. also, the male voice has problems with the lower notes. make sure that you chest those notes, dont try to keep them in your head. but overall, very nice. very unique
Constructive: Make sure the person with the melody is the more prominent voice. Some of the double entrances and cut-offs were not together. Also, you guys soud like you have some trouble with your "i" sound. I particularly noticed it with "my love," "while" and "miles," Make sure the first part of the dipthong is very bright and tall.
Yay: Did you guys do this arrangement? It's really lovely and so haunting. And I loved the folk sound your voices have. Beauty!
I first heard this song way back in middle school and fell in love with it. The performance is positively beautiful. Combined with the video, it's absolutely heart-wrenching. Fantastic work!
this song is for my beloved late husband jakob issayic grimm. may you rest in peace my sweet, sweet king.

I really like the voices in the song. I think I'd like it a lot more if the tempo was a bit slower.

You know what would have made this even MORE chilling?
Is if the original lines were used at the end:
"Fare ye well, my dear,
(Fare ye well, my dear)
Fare ye well, my dear,
(Fare ye well, my dear)
Farewell,
(Farewell)
Farewell..."
That's the version my choir had to sing, and it sent chills down our spines when we sang it.
