There's a few episodes like that, but it might be "Over the Water". Did the episode start at a restaurant in New Jersey while Kojak was on a date? Was the "mob guy" a younger guy/the son of a mob boss? Did he put a hit out on Kojak due to the altercation @ the restaurant? If so, then it is "Over the Water" from Season 3, Episode 9. (air date 11/09/1975) It's a really good episode (a favorite). BTW, Hulu has it free along with 79 other Kojak episodes from seasons 1-3.
@gjc82071 yes. that is absolutely the episode. i think the mob guy insulted theo's girl, then called him 'baldy'. the guy's father, i remember was against the hit. not too many episodes stand out in my mind, for i was fairly young, but this one did. it may explain my later infatuation with mob movies...thanks for the info.
@1skullduggery "Baldy", haha, yep, that's definitely the episode. Actually, the mob guy was harassing a young female patron & Kojak said "why don't you leave her alone...", then there's an altercation....mob guy says "Nobody kicks me out of my own club, bla bla". I really love the episode/seen it several times. Actually, I just watched it (again, hehehe) last week. If you want to see again, you can watch it free/legal @ Hulu. "Over the Water" Season 3, Episode 9. Enjoy. :-)
@1skullduggery Baretta, hahah. Good 1. BTW, unfortunately Hulu doesn't have any Baretta or Columbo episodes (I wish they did). They do have The Rockford Files though (& of course Kojak), The Fall Guy, The A-Team, The Greatest American Hero, The Incredible Hulk, Emergency!, Ironside, the list goes on & on. Have you ever checked out Hulu? It's pretty cool, especially if you like retro TV shows.
@gjc82071 i'll go there to check them out. love to see some of them rockford files episodes. part of the reason hbo initially picked up the sopranos was due to them being aware of david chases' work on that series.
I didn't realize how tough Kojak was till I got older and listened to the dialog of the show. When I was a kid I used to ask my mom, why is he calling him Cracker?
Location...Location...Location...I didn't like Kojak because 80% of it was filmed in Hollywood studios....Streets of San Francisco and Hawaii 5-0 were way better shows because they were filmed entirely on location.
I saw two episodes of Kojak this year when they did a special airing of it on my local, independent TV station. This was my first time ever seeing this show... just awesome!
Back in the days they sure packed a lot of drama into a 60 minute show.. Looking back now those cop shows like Kojak and so on where like Mini movies.. real gritty and and the theme music used was fantastic... Todays youth is subject to crap and Brainless reality shows. Thank God for Satelite Tv but they should show these classic cop shows and dramas.. But Thanks to DVD and You Tube us Old Skoolers can relive those Glory Tv days
It's a longer, awesome story but In 1984 I gave Telly a ride to Del Mar where his horse was running. He WAS THE SHIT. I felt like I was riding with royalty.
These 70's cop shows were so good. The actors looked like real men and the scenery had that downtown industrial feel to it. So much better than the "male model" crap they show now.
Has anyone except me noticed the total and complete crap that is on T.V. today? Everything is so fake and scripted. You have to feel sorry for the woman actors because unless they will get naked they cant work! Something is very wrong with the people who run these studios. Parents be aware of what your kids are watching. Total trash. Kojack sucked on a sucker, not some womans tits.
@barmtrail They had a story on 60 minutes that kojak was popular in soviet satelite countrys but they put it on tv on sunday morning when veiwers were supposed to go to church
@barmtrail Exactly. It seems like all the women have fake boobs and blown up lips. Back then you had some great cop shows with memorable characters. Now it is all a bunch of pretty people looking at dead bodies and having sex with each other. Quite sad.
Can't someone attempt to put a strong cop or P.I. show likes this on the air again? Used to be there were twenty of these on the air in the same year. Now its all wimpy cops. Even Barnaby Jones could kick around any of the CSI crews and if he got tired just take out his piece and shoot 'em.
When my Dad had cancer and was going thru chemo I called him Kojak to make him laugh. He loved it and so did his friends. Five years later, my dad is cancer free and still loves responing to kojak.
damn i miss the 70's and 80's.this was when t.v. had a meaning.this was 1 of my favorite shows.whenever i see this show it takes me back to the 70's.my parents and all the kids would watch this show n loved it.police woman, barnaby jones, cannon, street of san francisco, hawaii 5.0,the rifle man, wonder woman,6 million dollar man, bonanza, gun smoke, good times, welcome back kotter, the white shadow, bionic woman, planet of the apes, three's company, ect. damn i miss that era.kids now are polluted by bullshit

Cool show, just picked up the first season on dvd and now i found out there are no other seasons, someone needs to pick up the rights and sell the remaining seasons!Telly is just about the coolest guy ever, so cool even off his show, loved him on Battle of the Network stars!
@brittonsimon Sounds strange, where do you live? I live in Sweden and I've bought the first and second season DVD boxes at Media Markt, and there are more of them available, and not only the two first seasons.
The mean streets of New York, love it. Best movies that show the mean streets and the bad asses on the NYPD is the movies Death Wish,French Connection,Warriors,
I thought this was the original theme. I think the last season used a theme by John Cacavas, which I'd like to hear for comparison but wasn't as good from what I remember.
Does anyone remember the episode of Kojak when at the very end, he walks into an apartment holding a cat and finds a drug dealer with tons of blow on a coffee table. Kojak looks at him and says, "meow, baby."
I need a thick ear for mis-spelling his name, sorry Mr Savalas. In Australia we had a saying on the radio if there was a police radar trap on the road, "Look out for a Kojak with a Kodak"
When i think of kojak like right now, i always hear that loud voice saying CROCKER GIT IN HERE!!!! You just put a smile on my face . Thanks:):):):):):).
The Greatest Police Drama Of ALL Time! Hands Down! KOJAK! I wish They Could bring this back! Me And My Family stay watching this when I was small! NO Contest!
Imagine Telly Savalas as Kojak and Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry appearing together in a movie as cops tackling crime in their no nonsense street tough manner. They both were great together in Kelly's Heroes.

What a classic and What acting can't get any better than Telly met him and his brother George in London many, many moons ago and what down to earth people
Not like some of the actors now a days stuck up thier own A**
Of all places to meet him and his brother, a Fish stall in Pettiecoat Lane, both him and his brother gave me thier autograph and chatted to me and my sister for aorund 10 minutes and I could not beleave that no one else spotted them.
Telly Savalas was one damn fine actor! He's missed...as are so many of those classic actors from the 60's and 70's. There are no male heros anymore. Notice that? They bred it out of the next generation. Just a bunch of whiney fags and strong women. Bah! Where are the Clint Eastwoods, and Telly Savalas'!
i remember when they used to give this show on saturday afternoon on channel 5 in the 80's nothing but good ol'reruns at the time,my grandmother love this show with a passion she'd be glued to the T.V. one of the best shows they don't make them like they used to!
Telly was off the hook and a told it like it was, no bs!!! Loved the theme and the show. I loved when he said "Crocker!!" They say dentists were pissed about him and the lollipops, but he was just so damn cool. RIP Telly.
Hi! I want to now what the name of the song are listening ferros wife lover when he was kill in the first part in the first season WEB OF DEATH thank you!
wow what a hero ...coming on here ditching some dead guy that if he was alive he would probably make u eat your boxers..its easy to be brave sitting on a computer typing far away..hey how did those buns taste?
boxers?...the only boxers you have probably seen are your own underwear, by the way your momma is calling and she has buns in the oven for you, so get along and butter those buns...
this guy is dead so show respect for a dead man ...what a brave guy you are disrespecting some dead guy...let him rest in peace...military eh?...were u a cook or some paper pushing moran...
I used to watch this show. Then I took an arrow to the knee.

Who loves ya, baby....
Thanks for sharing.

Telly Savalas was one damn fine actor! He's missed...as are so many of those classic actors from the 60's and 70's. There are no male heros anymore. Notice that? They bred it out of the next generation. Just a bunch of whiney fags and strong women. Bah! Where are the Clint Eastwoods, and Telly Savalas'!

true that!

@jgdesign They are a dying breed indeed. I love the old cop shows from the 60s through the 80s. Enough with the CSI junk.

i remember when they used to give this show on saturday afternoon on channel 5 in the 80's nothing but good ol'reruns at the time,my grandmother love this show with a passion she'd be glued to the T.V. one of the best shows they don't make them like they used to!

Telly was off the hook and a told it like it was, no bs!!! Loved the theme and the show. I loved when he said "Crocker!!" They say dentists were pissed about him and the lollipops, but he was just so damn cool. RIP Telly.

Best haircut ever. So simple too. Just look around today, everybody has one. Telly has also been in some terrific films.

All I have to say is just what Kojak himself would say, Who loves ya Baby? That was a great cop show in it's day as well.
