I think its because its a slow starting/developing anime. I myself saw the first epi and got really annoyed, bored and left it. But I find it disrespectful to leave an episode at half so I came back and saw it completely, I still wasnt sure about the anime until like the third episode, which then captivated me and got me into it!(Im glad I came back to see it) I recommended this anime to a friend & he also got pissed cuz the first episode was "boring". He got lost in time and didnt see the rest

Steins;Gate's first episode had me a bit unexcited, but with me always dreaming of time travel I was interested, I admit. The ending though, when she was alive... I was hooked.

Kristina was lying in a pool of blood and the Dr took the upa makise had with her. Everything happened the way the world planned nothing changed at that time, but the effects they would have had on the future changed. So he changed the past without changing anything so to speak. Hence deceiving the world.

@kira0080 No, no. What I mean that it was all too convenient - the only things that were really averted were Kurisu's death. And no, the first episode does not run parallel to the last - for one, the metal oopa in the first received by Mayushi (in response to the comment that the first and last episodes ran parallel with eachother by someone else). Considering the impact of minute prior changes in the episodes prior, it doesn't make any sense that those were the only changes that happened.
