My Dad was the Captain of the Dioptric Surveyor - The Trinity House ship hired with it's crew by the Government. He laughed at the antics and futility of it just as much as the crew of the 'Pirate' Ships. But he was getting paid as a glorified taxi driver so what the heck....

I was actually living in England when this radio station came on. It was awesome with the music and actually funny hearing about what the government of UK was going to do about it.

I was 10 in 1990 and the breakfast show here in the midlands near Burton On Trent was very clear on 558 what happened to Neil Gates is he still ok

Havn't seen Neil for many a year, but seen photos of him at various conventions, and is a faceboook friend, not that he posts much. 1990 eh? was that before or during Spectrum taking our 558 frequency?

yes around June I think from memory both stations were on the same frequency for a while and going past on the Olau Ferry the signal was clear and it was here in the midlands still when both stations were on. The Radio Authority told Spectrum that 558 was the only free frequency then later I think 990 was allocated to them! I also remember the DTI helping spectrum improve their signal on 558 as now you can hear it up here

'Pirate' ships should have been left alone, The u.k gov shifted the goalposts to suit their own needs, If you abide by the law as Caroline and others did by staying in international waters they 'extend' the boundaries to 'adjacent waters'(quote taken from the marine offences act) where is the sense of fair play? Our civil liberties are being squeezed out of us, 3000+ new laws since Labour got elected in 1997 restricting the individual or those who dared to be individual - LEAVE US ALONE.
