He can't do any good if he's not elected, so he has to temper positions. Changes i eligibility requirements for the younger generation is better than continuing to borrow money from china to pay. plus, a vote would never come up to abolish these, so it's just futile to commit political suicide over an irrelevant platform.

I liken the pledge of "fixing" them to a bribe for votes, but I suppose it would depend on what the fix is.

If they can be fixed without theft from the population I'm for it, but I see no opportunity for that because theft is the only way Governments acquire funds.

Rand strike the right balance--a balance that might get himself elected and if you don't get elected you might as well be sitting around in the old dorm room with your buddies at 2am talking politics the way I used to--to no effect. The Libertarian Party has been running purist for decades & they hardly ever wins---We need to win if we're going to bring about change.

Fellow libertarians, have you never heard Milton Friedman on Medicare and S.S.? He said you just can't end these programs immediately, it has to be a gradual reversal. So the government bails out the banks, AIG, and GM, but then says 'screw you' to it's citizens? Even Ron proposes allowing people to op out and using the money we spend overseas to fund the current welfare recipients. This ad was called for after the Senate debate. Conway plays dirty as most lawyers do.
