  • *speechless* it's totally awesome X___X

  • Ur a man with decades experience I guess, (I'm nearly 18 myself, been playing for 12 years now)

  • you are great........all my respect and compliments for you....googd luck for all...

  • Great playing! One of the best interpretations on YouTube, especially on an upright!

And 10/4 is MUCH harder than both 10/12 and Fantasie Impromptu, which I think are about the same level...

  • putaquepariu... vou jogar meu piano pela janela.

  • Which one is easier to learn? And easier for smaller hands? Could you please list them in order of easiest first?

    1) This piece (Chopin Etude Op.10 No.4)

    2) Chopin Etude 'Revolutionary' Op.10 No.12

    3) Chopin 'Fantasie-Impromptu' Op.66

    Thanks so much Paul :)

  • @hannahchanxox -- If you can make an octave, in terms of difficulty, I'd say your 3 pieces in reverse order. Etude Op.25/6 is also a good one for small hands. Someone said "It's not what you achieve in life that really matters, but what you overcome". Rudolf Serkin's fingers were quite wide, he had so much difficulty playing as they got stuck between the black keys. You sound a courageous person - good luck with your pieces!

  • @PaulBartonPiano So do you mean the Fantsie Impromptu is the hardest? The the Revolutionary, then the Op.10/4 would be the easiest?

Or the other way round? @.@

Sorry that I'm wasting your time....

practice for like 4 hourse everyday- heck I don't even practice everyday... And even If I did- it's hardly 30 mins....) so I'm really really happy with how that piece is going so far! :)

  • @hannahchanxox -- I think 10/4 hardest, then 10/12 then F-I. Glad to hear it's going well - keep up the good work!

  • What a waste that you don't become a concert pianist...

  • I am a huge fan. I have listened to a multitude of of your pieces more times than one. Your not only extraordinary in your ability to play these pieces but your dynamics I feel is what sets you apart from a lot of others. You don't just play the piece through but you pay attention to HOW it should be played, (loud, soft, slow, fast ) I love it! I mostly play by ear and after I heard Rachmaninov prelude op.23 no.5 I have been on a steady campaign to learn it. Keep them coming. - Mike

  • I have to say that is truely amazing! That really was quite something, why didn't you become a concert pianist?... :-)

  • @lison766 -- thank you! ... why? life had other plans :)

  • @PaulBartonPiano That was amazing, i like to see people like you play al these awesome and beautifull pieces, cause i play myself to, also chopin, but i'm nearly not advanced as you are. Now that i think about it, you should try playing chopin's etude op 10 no 10. You should have no problem playing it.

  • Man...If you can play this good on an upright, you can play THREE TIMES AS GOOD on a grand!

  • how long does it took you to learn all the etudes?

  • Fantastic performance...I noticed that your left hand crossed over your right hand at 1:10...Is that written on the score? And if it is, which edition are you using. I have the Cortot Edition.

  • @MoebiusTripper -- Thanks! no, it's not written on the score as such, it's just become an alternative way of playing that section - i.e. Kissin watch?v=xGHvaMRn1f0

  • upright piano, but grand piano quality!! :)

damn, ur playing is too awesome

  • You are great :)

  • stunning!

  • omg. i so want to get to your level! that was amazing! i like to sometimes use the piano as an excuse for bad playing but you played that on an upright yamaha and made it sound like a steinway! i have a lot to learn :L

  • You played this better than Rubinstein

  • Congratulations Paul! I truly admire your work! Could you tell me how can I work at home to achieve a strong and effortless technique in order not to feel insecure when I get on stage - and so, I can express my feelings?

  • @pedroborges78 -- Thanks! - If you play in public regularly (and enjoy it) after a while it seems less of an ordeal. If you play on stage only occasionally, it makes most pianists feel at least a little nervous. Very young pianists seem to relish performing in public then get nerves as they get older. One way to increase security is by accompanying singers/instrumentalists on stage and adding solos to the program. This build familiarity, confidence and prepares you for solo recitals.

  • When you finished I thought: "fuck yeah! that was badass...."

  • That was amazing mate

  • Dynamics!!!!! Bedst dynamics ever!!!! :D OUTSTANDING!!!

  • This ...Is...OUTSTANDING!!! Again you played another Chopin's piece FANTASTICALLY... With an AWESOME ending.. I am blown away XD!

    Marzia

  • BADASS!!! I think im going to a spend considerable time with the piano!!! thanks for inspiration!

  • Gift for seeing patterns... must be from having learned the patterns of many, many, many pieces... the more you know, the more you can cross-reference and file new information into pre-existing slots in the mind. Well darn, I keep trying to make musical ability into a question of magical mysterious gifts and it never works... But still, Paul, you are great at seeing patterns!! Partly inborn ability, partly developed by experience, must be?? Discuss whatever you feel like plz??

  • WOW, Brawo. Chopin jest najlepszym kompozytorem !

  • That was terrific!

Looking at all these piano pieces you've posted... just incredible! You are a super human or what?

  • Cant wait for tutorilal :D

  • It is a pleasure to listen to your game - this virtuosity I'm not, too bad - thanks for the musical experience - kind regards Hella

  • WOW Paul, that was unbelievable! You make it look so effortless, amazing control and dynamics. You continue to inspire.

  • @JHighland1 Amen. I've watched this half a dozen times already; I must say again, it's a stellar performance, very close to the best out there.

  • wowzerz!

  • well, too busy writing that last comment while you were playing, then replayed and actually watched it on the second time... after that I just heaved a big sigh and shook my head and then for some reason burst out laughing! it just seems unbelievable.

    :D

  • how did you get this up to snuff so few days after "not having played it for years"?? Can you explain, or at least touch on, the way you organize music in your mind to remember it? You have a gift for seeing easy patterns in difficult music! If you cannot explain, can you at least donate me some brain tissue from whatever the music lobe is... Thanks! Looking forward to it! Well if not a transplant, at least looking forward to the tutorial!

  • @katiush65 PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION, I STRIVE SO DEEPLY AND PASSIONATELY TO DEVELOP AN ADEQUATE REPERTOIRE BUT IT SEEMS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE.

  • Amazing! Your dynamics and the dialogue between both hands are fantastic.

I really like the fact that you can hear every single note.

And will you upload some Liszt Etudes (Paganini Etudes, Transcendental Etudes)?

    Greetings :)

  • Wow that dynamic control was amazing.

  • Bravo Paul! This is an incredibly difficult Etude, and you make it look so easy! I get dizzy just watching your left hand.

  • Just an Amazing Perfrormance!!! :) I really did Enjoy it! And I love this piece as well! ThU

    Thomas

  • How you make it look so easy!!

  • Have you considered a semiclassical piece such as La Malaguena or Espana Cani .I would love to see them as tutorial.

  • It's just terrific, I watch it again again and again.....

  • Amazing how good you are. Enjoy listening to you play.

  • Why I remember that you've played that before?

  • Marvelous !

  • @kawes007 Każdy człowiek może się pomylić, a dla osoby nie obeznanej z muzyką klasyczną nie jest to w jakikolwiek sposób zauważalne (usłyszalne)

  • Excellent! I've been waiting for this video!

While my favorite performances of this one are done by Boris Berezovsky and Maurizio Pollini, this isn't far behind, Paul. *long standing ovation*

This is still a dream piece for me. I'm really looking forward to the tutorial; perhaps you'll convince me it is something can play someday.

  • I'm excited to see that a tutorial for this piece is coming soon. I worked on this for a few months, but I had to put it away because it just wasn't getting any better, no matter how much I practiced. I'm looking forward to some valuable practice tips on this one.

  • Beautiful!!!

  • wow, really good!

  • its amazing how chopin compose all these pieces whereby we have to practice for weeks/months/years just to PLAY a single piece

  • amazing
