There is no valid basis for this claim. The naming of Iceland is described in the Icelandic book Landnámabók. The island got its name from Floki Vilgerdarson,who lost all his animals of cold and hunger during his first winter of settlement. He is said to have named it after a distant fjord full of sea-ice.
Greenland was later named by Eirik Raude to attract settlers,but he was himself one of the settlers. They did settle among the green hills of southern Greenland,so the name was appropriate.
Are you sure about that, Dr. Julienne? I did a quick google search on the subject (that's how I found your video here), and I didn't find any corroborating articles; I did, however, find some articles debunking your claim.
I am no expert on the subject (just curious -- thus the google search), but some people who seem to be very knowledgeable and who give rather detailed explanations on how Greenland and Iceland got their names, don't agree with your brief explanation.
