Gay rights marches in San Francisco were some of the scariest things to a kid. Angry, yelling people in clown face paint. Enough to make an entire generation of kids into homophobic adults.
I really appreciated the marches by Martin Luther King Jr. and then speeches by Nelson Mandela... but the yelling in San Francisco was downright terrifying.
