VR6 ist too heavy for that "little" it would have too much weight on the front.. VR6 is great if you race on dragstrips but for good cornering it is too heavy for the MK2, even if its a Rally.or syncro
With 1.8-2.0 Liters and a good Damper setup the Car is very well balanced ;-)
I found this out the hard way, I can practically pull the rear wheels off if I stop too hard in my VR mkII haha... but it is better than to 8v Digi I yanked out.
