  • I'm puzzeled... the original is from Jesse crawford 1927, and this tune can't be from 1926

  • Grzegorz, I am at all times in your debt for making my playlists possible! I may not always mention it, but know my thanks is there ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ([;-) >

  • Great ! thank you !! *************************

  • This version is so catchy and so inventively orchestrated. Those covers are simply fabulous!

  • @1920sbuff - my sentiments, too. But I seem to like too MUCH music! Come see my 425 playlists for 300 artists and 120 years of music back past 1900.

Listen to your 1920s music one year at a time, or to Whiteman or Hylton nonstop. I'm working to make all the lists platy for at least 2 hours. Big project!! Chuck

  • Woow, Grzegorz, what a wonderful post you have done! Shilkret is one of my favorites and this lovely music with Spanish magazine covers makes a beautiful piece. By the way, the revival of this song in the forties happened because Deanna Durbin sang it in Spanish in the movie "First Love" (1939). Maybe the reason of that choice was that her vocal coach was the former opera star Andres de Segurola

  • @Masquerade03 Thanks! Your praise has a value of gold to me!

  • Amazing and well done - who knew. Thanks !!!

  • A rare and beautiful early recording of Amapola. Thank you!

  • Thanks so much for sharing these wonderful recordings. I play piano and have many old sheet music arrangements, but not the recordings.

    Thanks again - Mr. Fuddlesby

  • Love those magazine covers. :)

  • I enjoyed the music very much as well.

  • Grzegorz,

I love Amapola ever since I saw..

"Once Upon a Time in America" with Robert DeNiro...Great Video and a most Romantic Song. Merci.

  • What a wonderful, lively version of this song!

  • One of my faves, too. Great presentation of this lively old song.

  • A delightful version, with wonderful rhythm, of this classic. The colorful and bright illustrations are fabulous!

  • This is a lovely orchestral rendition of this beautiful composition by a son of Cadiz.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • This must be my moms absolute favorite song...she used to play it countless times on the piano...
