@wfmkk WW1 was between Germany,Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Ottoman Empire on one side and Russia,France the UK and the USA on the other.The US did not enter the war till April 1917,by then the Russians had already pulled out due to the Revolution at home.Germany had switched to new tactics and was winning the war.England and France pleaded with Wilson to join the war to keep them from losing.Had the US not joined the Ottoman Empire would have been on the winning side and not been dissolved.

It was succeeded by the Republic of Turkey which was officially proclaimed on October 29,1923.Following the breakup of the Ottoman Empire the French and British (under the league of nations,and later the UN) preceded in creating the modern states of the Middle east.

It would be wrong, however, to claim that the Treaty of Versailles "didn't have anything to do with the Ottomans" -- because that treaty did address German economic interests within the Ottoman Empire.

The fiasco at Gallipoli was a highlight for the Turks, but their fortunes went sour in 1916 with the Arab Revolt. (Ever heard of Lawrence of Arabia?) Your proposition that a German victory in France would have secured a Turkish victory in the Middle East is bogus.

@wfmkk The treaty of Sevres dealt with the partitioning of the Empire and the creation of the state of Syria.The movies hyped the importance of the revolt and didn't show the reality that it was the British army that won just about every battle.The Arab revolt was a factor in Saudi Arabia, a argument can be made that Saudi Arab would have successfully rebelled,but not the rest of the middle east.Had the Allies not been attacking Turkey directly they would have crushed the revolt.

The Turks would have then been free to send their main army (1 million strong) east against the now abandoned Arab revolt. The Turks would have crushed them like they had the previous revolts and the modern Middle east would never have been created.

@wfmkk The Modern states of Turkey,Syria,Iraq,Jordan,Lebanon,Saudi Arabia and Israel are a direct result of the Allied victory in WW1.England and France would have lost without US involvement.When they won they gained Territorial control of the region and drew the boarders of those nations.The people would still exist but the geopolitical framework dominating the middle east would likely be much different. There would be no Israel for starters and likely none of the other states either.

Turkish forces were defeated in the Middle East before the full impact of U.S. involvement in the war. The collapse of Russia allowed the Germans to transfer about one million troops to the Western Front, where the Germans launched a massive attack BEFORE the Americans had arrived. Yet the British withstood the German onslaught without transferring its relatively SMALL number of troops from the Middle East.

The Turks lost Mecca on July 9, 1916.
In Palestine, the British had a force of only 88,000 men, but that still outnumbered the Turks by at least 4 to 1. The British occupied Jerusalem on December 11, 1917.
Beyond these dates is the overriding concept that colonialism was on its way out, and the Ottoman Empire was already in its overextended death throes. Arabs were revolting all over the place, disrupting the empire's ability to wage war.
WWI also led to the dissolution of Britain's empire.

@wfmkk Yes but those victories were when the Ottomans and Austro-Hungarians were also fighting Russia. After Russia pulled out those troops were free to move either east or west. Had the US not entered the war the British and French the war would have ground on for several more years and likely ended either in a stalemate or a German/Ottoman/Austro victory. The British would have been forced to give back it's gains. The USA kept England/France from loseing and thus doomed the Ottoman Turks.

Among military historians it is a widely held belief that had the USA not entered the war it would have either become a stalemate or a allied defeat, with the German/Astro/Ottoman side gaining economic and colonial territorial concessions at the very least the Ottoman and Astro-Hungarian empires would have survived perhaps not to the present day but longer at least.

What I don't understand is your reluctance to accept that the USA's entrance into WW1 set off a chain of events that is still taking place today. Similar idea,The war with the Turks was secondary to the Western front. The Brits would have been forced to abandon the war against the Turks to focus their efforts against Germany. Without the 600k US troops and the billions in loans the outcome would likely been different.
