  • Beautiful sound.

  • Horns are the BEST!8:38 <3

  • Horns are the BEST!

  • this is so pretty, i just started playing the french horn, it can be frustrating, but very pretty and good scholarship

  • this was beautifully played. thank you for sharing :)

  • I'd have to admit, horns are my favorite instrument to listen to musically.

  • You guys sound about as awesome as the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra's horn section (they rock). Note to James Horner.

  • I played this piece at a music camp a few years back with about 20 high school french horn players. I think you guys did a good job with the piece :)

  • if that first horn didn't crack that first note..... oh well, who cares!!!!! I LOVED THIS

  • My instructor plays a 1961 hand made Alexander. He allowed me to play it once and I've been hooked ever since. I am currently using a Holton H179 and I would absolutely LOVE to own an Alex!

  • Beautifully performed! Well done! I envy you, as I've never had the privilege to play with a group this large.

The french horn is arguably the most difficult instrument to play next to a double-reed instrument. and I quite agree with that, there are just too many things that can cause the horn to go out of tune with the rest of the ensemble/orchestra.

  • this was utterly amazing..I about died listening to this!!!

  • I just want to say that a horn ensemble of 12 is like the best thing since sliced bread. I play horn, and I don't think "Vienna horns are better..." After all this sounds amazing. I should go to Rutgers for the sole purpose of joining a horn ensemble. Brass ensembles are a thing of the past.

  • you guys sound absolutely amazing.

    beautiful solid sound (:

  • it was hard but gradual learning kicked in from the transition from tuba to baritone, then to tenor horn, then to french horn, the horn was by far the most dificult.

  • french horn composer, where do you get this score?

  • It s on Paxman Music Centre website

  • bello! peccato per lo scrocco iniziale del primo corno solista..!

  • HI, I play French Horn and I would like to get this score, do you have???you would send me by email, please!

    Best Regards.

  • vienna horns are better...

  • well we are NOT vienna horns if you can see that for yourself.

  • @1337evan nice fry dude, your band is aweome.

  • @mike090882 vienna horns are too sharp

  • very nice! i'm actually working on this right now with the USM horn choir, but only with 18 hourns =)

  • It's not that hard to figure it out by ear.

  • Pure awesomeness! Good job! I'm a horn player myself. Ever since I started playing the horn, I've wanted to play this. I can't seem to get ahold of the music though. lol

  • start on an A in the staff and work from there.

there is a C# and an F# and everything else is natural.

A B C#... are the first three notes.. work from there.. i play horn as well. and i play this from ear :]

  • oo im a beginner horn-- been playing for 3 yrs-- and this is how much ive got: A B C# D C# b a b E C# B a F# D E A B C# D C# b a b E C# E F# E A C#.

    Could you help me out?

  • what is the highest note?

and do u standard play Bflat side or F side?

  • the highest note in the piece is a written high D above the staff. The solo is repeated twice in the piece, once at FF and the other at MP.

Our school utilizes the B horn a lot more than the F side. We only played F horn on certain notes, unless the horn itself doesnt agree with the tuning. :-P

  • @1337evan i tot it was a D flat?

  • @extricated1 nope its a D. There is a Db in the 1st horn part as well.

  • awesome! i'm dying to try this.

  • hell yeah me too! its just so damn beautiful

  • je to fakt super ...... som rad ze som to nasiel a mohol som si to vypocut .... BRAVOOOOO

  • very good job

  • Amy Krueger is far right, back row! Halstead Chidell 21A Z cup, Alex 107 in yellow brass! :-) i am not ashamed, evan. haha

  • do u know where i can get the music for this arrangement?

  • It's copyrighted so you'd need to buy it off somewhere. I dunno who sells the arrangement though. I'd check all the major sheet music stores. It's on the London Horn Sound CD btw.

  • you can get the arrangement for this on the paxman website

  • WOW.

  • Great performance

  • lol could you name the members? some look quite familiar to me..

  • I dont want to name names on here since people might not want me to.

  • Best part of the performance was 2:55 with the swelling chords. :-)

  • hey, u playing which horn part?

  • 9th horn. Some of the fun low horn stuff. :-D

  • I see.

U are the one who was playing the melody at 06:42 right

  • Yes. It's 2 of us playing it. Me and the guy directly behind me.

  • i see. Anyway what mouthpiece u 2 use?

U 2 seem to have a very round, yet dark sound.

  • Well Im using a Halstead chidell 21A Z cup with an AS rim. Its mostly a high horn mouthpiece. I mightve been using the 23A though for this performance. I dont remember. I switch between mouthpieces for different ensembles and blend. Also, this ensemble plays mostly Alexander Horns.

  • not the performans

  • yay guys! good job!!!
