  • WOW! Fantastic!

  • Briight timing.

  • contradiction isn't an argument... yes it is, no it isn't, yes it is

  • Awesome!!Thank you for sharing. And Beethoven's #5 is absolutely lovely. Great!

  • what kinda argument .__.

  • Muito bom esse video! Here in Brazil!

  • hm I'm a true expert of causing pleasure to people

  • me encanta

  • Can NOT stop lauging at 2:00!

  • this is like congress discussing the budget

  • This show and his previous shows are pure genius, true comedy. Much missed.

  • Who won the argument?

    Chuck Norris. Duh.

  • lol Im your ANYTHINGGIRL. i am new, ask me i give you what you want

  • I think this is brilliant and one of the funniest things I've ever seen!

  • V is for victory.

  • This looks terrible. There used to be a crystal clear version on YouTube, so I know they exist.

  • That is really something!!

  • I like the part where they argue.

By the way, it would have been pretty impressive if they also made an argument to the first movement of Mozart's 25th symphony.

  • Im gay and i like bteethoven

  • Now, to understand the music fully, you must imagine that your Life is the woman, and that the man is your Destiny.

  • @christopher19894 Wow! Interesting!

  • If you like this check out Mozart's Birthday by Nederlands Dans Theater

  • 78 people don't like grains.

  • I love how the plaintive Oboe Solo is the bit where the woman turns on the water-works....so appropriate ;-).

  • Silent movies are so funny this way. You agree?

  • I nearly choked laughing at 4.03

  • lol this shit is soo funny

  • This is from 1954. Mr. Caesar and Ms. Fabray are still with us today.

  • 4:00 BUSTED.

  • If I watch this 25 feet away it looks like HD

  • Hahah, this is great

  • I'm pretty sure this is staged hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • @buzzboy008 rehearsed, I believe is the word you were looking for.

  • More comedic than I would like, but otherwise very similar to what I see in my head when I listen. Also there's a little boy that comes in sometimes, but I don't see him in this

  • hìhí_Í_fèël_sö_lõNèly_tÔÐåY

  • hahahah this cracked me up... we need more shenanigans like this nowadays. :)

  • this looks like all the fights i've ever had in my life:)

  • WAY too clever for today's television audiences. Most of them wouldn't even know who Beethoven was, let alone Sid Caesar.

  • These two needa smoke a bowl together

  • hehe wonderful

  • Brilliant.

  • Nanette did this with a svere hearing disability! And she was quite the hottie (would have been in her 30s here).

  • It would be great if we could argue using symphonies instead of words :p

  • which pixel was the man and which was the woman?

  • beethoven is the greatest of all time!!

  • Mad as a fish! This should inspire non classical listeners to listen

  • Brillian t!

  • very well put together, well done would never have thought of this one, maybe this is what is really behind his musical compositions? Love is always a good motivationg force.

  • It's not just the acting, but the story that makes it amazing :)

  • Brilliant! What extraordinary musicianship it takes to do this!!! Love it love it.

  • Absolutely brilliant.

  • Cool! Old film that's actually still cool 60 years later!

  • I wish you could put up more vids like this. :-)

  • In Dazzling HD :P that was funny tho

  • And all I had to say is, yaa you are right sory and hug:)

  • for successful marriage get a dog who mach's with your hair color

  • Holy sh** - she found a strange looking hair on his shoulder! Ha, that dude should consider himself lucky that this discussion didn't turn into Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring"... LOL

  • Typical! She found a suspicious hair. I think it was one of these! Don't watch this if you get easily frightened...

    youtube.com/watch?v=dYrisGLgCDI&feature=related

  • the next time my mom and dad have an argument i gonna put Beethoven's symphoney on heahphones.

  • :-)

  • Such an interesting model of behaviour. Для русских: интересная модель поведения...

  • Lolz to 4:01

  • This is great. I'll have to send the link to an old music major friend of mine, he will really appreciate it.

  • I like the part where you can so tell that she is saying yes over and over and he says no over and over. Haha :) This was really cool. I'm glad i watched it. Though it did get a bit old watching it for almost 6 minutes.

  • this is pure artistic genius...we need more of this.

  • Im 12 and I like Beethoven :)

  • @lollipopkid88 18 over here, love him <3

  • @lollipopkid88

I wish i could've started this young, it took me another 10 years.

Oh well, got there in the end.

  • @lollipopkid88 nobody gives a damn how old you are. just enjoy.

  • @lollipopkid88

Most people like Beethoven well before they are 12 - why so late ?

I hope you liked Mozart at 2 like the rest of us.

  • @lollipopkid88 That's nice, do you want a gold star? Or will some ego-stroking be sufficient?

  • Hey, what's with all the swearing? It's JUST COMEDY! Lighten up!!

  • @Zokast03 Why the heck did you watch it then? Your comment is just the biggest waste of space. And, utterly offensive. Out of the 1.15 million people that have seen this video as of the posting of my comment how many of them do you think were under 18? Just one would be too much to have seen your horrible comment. So watch the cussing. It's very immature.

  • @poolgarth seriously? that is all you have to say. wtf.

  • umm excuse me @mymusicvideos1991 you are sleeping outside tonight sir

  • For a successful marriage don't get a woman, or don't let them speak in the house

  • HAHAHAA!! This is soo funny! XD The "Yes-No" and "Ha-ha-ha"-parts is the funniest XD

  • really cool a cappella version of this youtube. com /watch?v=BuIxshlitgY

  • Although this performance was interesting, I was dissapointed in the image quality.

  • @S01496108 Well it had to be nearly 60 years old.

  • Bravo Bravo Bravo!!!

  • so it was the dog's hair? wow

  • they're arguing over anal sex. she wants it.

  • aaaaahhh!!!

  • Lol, big French horn screw up on their entrance at 1:30

  • @starwarsjunkie7777 Sounds more like tape flutter.

  • Nice!

  • More compression please?

  • Bravo!

  • Fabulous... I love the yes/no argument where they switch over. I can never listen to Beethoven 5 the same again!

  • this proof that comedy is art...and not the crap theyre pumping out today!

  • A better understanding of classical music.

  • I reckon even Ludwig Van Beethoven himself would be delighted by this. It's brilliant!

  • So that's what the 5th symphony was inspired by.

  • I have to do something similar for college. Do you suggest any other classical music that I could use? :)

  • @cuki13lucky O Fortuna!

  • Wow! Thanks for the post. Do you have anymore clips to share from the Sid Caesar Show? Please and thank you.

What I think that's so great about this clip is the expressiveness and story being told purely through action. This could be a short silent film by itself. Young movie makers today should watch this over and over to understand how far a story can be taken without any (over beaten) dialogue. Truly, a treasure. :)

  • after 1:50 you can see them mouth "YOUR MOTHER!"

  • @ChronicMetamorphosis hahahaha, it's true.

    -Your mum

    -My mother??

    -Your mother

    -My mother??! D8<

  • Only after watching this movie I fully realized Beethonen's genius.

  • 2:00-2:08, hilarious!!!

  • Pretty good simultaneous action. Must've been hard to do.

  • lol

  • CLASSIC!

  • I agree he has some very specific italian gestures there.. :)

  • This wasn't that funny...

  • LOL!!!! 2:00-2:07

  • Bravo!

  • would like to know what there were sayin :D

  • @4gs8vh4gs8vh wrote "would like to know what there were sayin :D "

The answer is in a subtle bit of pantomime revealed at the end. After he storms out and she sits in the chair, the dog comes over to console her. She pets it and suddenly sees the dog's hair, then realizes she had falsely accused him of infidelity, presumably based on a stray hair she found. The whole argument was for nothing and he was right all along. They then reconcile. That's my guess anyway. Brilliantly performed!!

  • The guy is sooo italian!!

  • @thekiche He's jewish.

  • "No!" "Yes!" "No!" "Yes!"

  • The arguments I had with my wife were more like Stravinsky's Rites of Spring.

  • story of my life....

  • I'm glad I got to see that. That was like the guy below said, Brilliant!

  • Its funny that sid was hitting another girl

  • hay thiet

  • haha, brilliant

  • I's wonderful to see Sid Caesar again, He is a very funny man, we always enjoyed and looked forward to the Sid Caesar Show on Saturday evenings, He and Imogene Coca were the best ! Bravo, Sid! and best wishes Chris Siqueira

  • Yes, Sid and Imogene were the best, but that's Nanette Fabray with Sid in this video.

  • Just delightful!

  • Does she give him the finger at 4:14 ?

  • @sirhonestharry i think she's pointing with her index finger at her hair

  • this is me and my wife... as our son cries, watching helplessly

  • does you then give him a whoopin'??

  • Incredible. Perfection. Done live.

Just Wonderful! Thank you Doug and thank you AIAfilms.

  • Since "Your Show of Shows" aired on NBC, could it be the NBC Symphony Orchestra with Toscanini conducting? Doesn't sound like the Maestro's tempi. In any case.... great fun! Many thanks to AIAfilms for posting!

  • what a great idea!!!! perfect.

  • Genius, sheer genius!

  • Gets a little ridiculous after a while, but in a physically funny way.

  • I thought she was deaf. How could she do this--of all things?

  • @marcxopoco Lol... you basically just suggested that people who are hearing impared cannot act...

  • @marcxopoco

she was deaf in one ear

  • Then she wasn't completelyy deaf.

Where did you get that info from ?

  • Nanette Fabray's 6 part archive interview is on You Tube. She is 84 years old in the interview and does wonderfully In part 3 14:40 she is asked about this Argument sketch. Although her memory seems excellent she doesn't recall doing it. This is an indication of how incredibly routine brilliant productions were at the time.

  • For a successful marriage, don't get a dog

  • haha!

  • @stevey226

    or cat

  • @stevey226 For a successful marriage dont marry :D

  • @cheakiter Then it's not a marriage..

  • @stevey226 ahh yes... i forgot... then DONT MARRY! xD

  • ...и так каждый день.....

  • haaha ya soglasin

  • @Sniazhana Мрак...

  • The end made me smile.

  • That woman is SO fifties. Excellently done.

  • so damn funny

  • I don't understand what she was supposed to hold in her hand at 4:00 ^^; Really entertaining and superb clip still!

  • Er, I think she discovered another woman's hair on his jacket.

  • jajajaja interesante

  • At around the four minute mark LMAO!

  • Absolutely brilliant. Thanks for the post.

  • From 2:20 excellent!!!

  • There are some very few stupid comments from people who don't get the inventivity of this acting.

When you are continuously fed with shit, unfortunately you can become insensitive to beauty and creation, and you only react to crude stupid jokes.

  • You are talking of the dumbing down of America, but I could tell as much as for France.

When I was young, there was more quality on TV than there is now.

What I find now on TV is rather depressing.

Give me back the good old quality!

  • What talent! Today's viewers would no doubt prefer an episode of Dancing with the Stars or The Big Loser to something as wonderful as this. Broadcast TV must take some of the responsibity for the dumbing down of America.

  • funny as shit (to me that means halarius)

  • It is sad that this would not be seen on TV today. Even if a show were to rebroadcast it, they would hack parts of it out. Audiences today are simply not capable of paying attention to one thing. for this long without hitting that remote button.

  • I agree completely. Today's TV audience has an attention span of about 10 seconds.

  • buenisimo!!!

  • this is great!

wow this videos got a perfect 5 star rating

  • Really great stuff, and I totally agree with 76mjohnson regarding La Fabray (and likely so would've SC. Notice how he downstages her in practically the entire scene, LOL).

  • brilliant!

  • ES GENIAL!

  • As great as Sid is, and he is supurb, don't forget how good Nanette Fabre is in this piece.
