Very good idea, man. I just got a Hero2 and as soon as I got everything unpackaged, I thought to myself "what can be done with this packaging mount?" Thanks for the info and I'll try and expand on it!
That strange white rubber thing you get with the camera is for pushing into the joint to stop the rattling. Put the thumb screw through the hole so you don't lose it when unclipped. Many are confused about what it is for and I like a puzzle so I just had to work it out!
Fantastic "How To" Video! Thanks a bunch! I have an alternate solution to stop the "rattling" - I put a single strip of electrical tape across the center of the "retail" mounting plate (where the single, middle "rail" is), and that additional width/ hight seemed to make it a snug enough fit...
@penfold187 Thanks! Great idea on the electrical tape. I use the "official" mount now as my version above was difficult to get snug with an armored coat on.
@The5000sClan I have been thinking of doing it over. Making slits instead of holes and then using elastic webbing with clips instead like the official gopro chest mount does. The ropes are hard to get tight and a pain to use with an armored coat.
@EverydayRiding yeah thats a pretty good idea too get some of that at hobby lobby or something, that chest mount is $40.00 it really doesnt seem that hard to make one out of this, especially with the extra useless mount you get. once i get my camera in i'll show you my version.
Genial maquina!

What about 1 layer of rubber (from a balloon or something) between the 2 part to prevent the clicking sound

@pbmarijn that might work too

if you unscrew the base of the angled mount, you can leave it on...i did that, or you can shove it in....

Cool!
I dont think you need that paper - gopro comes with a fix - google "gopro doohickey" and you'll see.
BBATLI 1 year ago
@BBATLI The orange doohickey doesn't work on the angled mount that is used on the chest mount, so the paper is still required. thanks for watching.
